Bio: Sam is one of Danny's best friends. For a while now she's had a crush on the half-ghost boy which she denies but it's completely obvious. She's an ultro-recyclo vegetarian and a goth which makes her "unique". She doesn't care for adult authority much, as is apparent when one looks at her mom and dad, and mostly takes after her wild, hip grandma.

~Umm...Sam's nice? She's a bit hypocritical and manipulative sometimes, but she's not that bad. And I feel bad that she hasn't got any posts ^_^;

Astera_Renata And I feel bad that she hasn't got any posts ^_^; Alright, alright. I'll do one for Sam. Basically, Sam is your typical gloomy poseur Goth who is not afraid to speak her mind. She's an obsessed vegetarian and supports individualism and all that fun stuff. Did I mention she's a poseur? Yes, she is a poseur. She is in no way a true Goth. Not in the slightest. She's very hypocritical. She says she has an utter disdain for anything popular but loves Humpty Dumpty. When Gregor/Elliot kissed her, it was rather gentle on his part. Sam was the one who wrapped her arms around his neck. Next, we see her pushing him away and telling him to slow down. She hates seeing Danny with other girls but expects him to be okay if she's with other guys. She spies on Danny, but tells him he's not allowed to spy on her. She's apalled when Valerie hugs her and says it "crushes" her "Goth indifference," but she hugs Danny all the time. She's messed up. She's also very unpredictable. She'll do things that you just totally wouldn't expect. Who would've thought she was so into fitness? Who expected her to sign up for the Beauty Pageant? Sure, she says she signed up to make a statement, but I don't buy that. I think she secretly wanted to win to impress the judge (who, by an incredibly well-planned coincidence, just happened to be Danny). She complains about Paulina being rude and mean, but does Sam really have a right to say that? She's just as mean to Paulina as Paulina is to her, if not more so because Sam is smart enough to come up with better insults. She probably breaks the school dress code because her shirt doesn't cover her midriff. So, um...I'm going to stop there before I get too carried away (well, too late for that, I guess). I know that I sounded negative up there, but Sam is actually my second favorite character. I love her flaws. I love how she's just totally messed up and how she frequently claims to be something she's not (Goths don't call themselves Goths, d'uh! Only poseurs do that!). She's awesome. I wouldn't want her any other way.

~That's a great character analysis. ^_^
I agree that here flaws are appropriate and she seems very realistic to me, but I think that the show handles her pretty badly. When I see her in later episodes, I don't really feel much empathy for her.
But I do like her character and she can be really amazing in fanfiction and roleplays. I think it's all in the handling.

I do agree with you there. In some episodes, she's cool, in others, it's "Oh, Sam, you frickin' weirdo." In fanfiction, she's just really hard to keep in character because she's so unpredictable and hypocritical (I'm still shocked that she's Jewish. That thought just never occured to me). In some stories, she's really tough and tomboyish; in others, she breaks down and cries until Danny comes over and comforts her and they fall in love and stuff. Definitely depends on the handling. 3nodding

~Yeah, her character's kind of all over the place. Some people are kind of like that, though; it's not impossible. You just have to accept she's hypocritical. It's a big part of her character, I suppose.
The Jewish thing threw me, too. Was rather random, I thought.
Also, as a fannish thing, I like the cool ghost-y Sam thing in the Urban Jungle game. I think she looks pretty neat in the cutscenes people put on youtube. ^_^

I'm Jewish too, and there's a girl who goes to my temple whose last name is Manson, so I really should have guessed she was Jewish. sweatdrop Heh heh, silly unobservant me.

Well, it's not like the show refers to it except in that one episode. I think a lot of people didn't know, how could we?

I like Sam. She's cool, and she's got that sarcastic sense of humor that is hilarious. However, she's also skeptical and often untrusting. She's really attached to Danny and Tucker, and while there's nothing wrong with that, she should really get out more. She reminds me of one of my friends who believes that it's her against the rest of the world, with only her best friends at her side. Sam really should learn to trust people a bit more, and I'm wondering if maybe something happened in her childhood to make her so skeptical...
But maybe I'm exagerating. I don't know. I really do like Sam though. mrgreen

If I ever met Sam, I would tell her that black isn't her color just to see what she'd say.
