Discovered in- The Tree of Kel'ashe

May 16th, 1854:

My name is Raven Norland. I live in the town of Wrenshire, just at the base of the southern mountains. Or at least... I did.

"Kel'ashe" they call it; that mighty tree deep within the forest. It was at it's base that I first met them. They too are the Kel'ashe, as they and the tree are one. I am not sure whether it was from the tree that they were born, or that they are purely extensions of it's being. I can't truly be sure at this point.

Discovered in- The Tree of Kel'ashe

May 30th, 1854:

After watching the Kel'ashe for these past few weeks, I've come to realize that, though there is a deep connection between them and the tree that bears the same name, these creatures each have their own unique personalities, thoughts, and lives. That scratches out my second theory, but could it be that my first one was accurate? I have yet to determine such, and possibly never will. After all, how would I be able to acquire such information?

Discovered in- The Tree of Kel'ashe

August 23rd, 1854:

It was only today that the Kel'ashe showed their first signs of trust towards me. For these past few months I have waited in plain sight of them, though at a comfortable distance for both them, and myself. It was early this morning, however, that the wall seemed to come down. Or at least, moved forward some. A young one strayed from it's mother, and must have been within 20ft of myself. It showed no signs of fear or aggression towards me, and neither did it's mother, though she did retrieve her young one in a timely manner. I have no intentions of straining this trust, but this hurdle is one that I have long awaited crossing.

Discovered in- The Tree of Kel'ashe

September 12th, 1854:

Over the past few weeks I have slowly been approaching the Kel'ashe. Day by day I move my camp several feet forward, as to respect the distance between us while simultaneously decreasing it gradually. They have yet to show any aggression towards me, though they seem to be noticing my closer proximity more so today than before.

Discovered in- The Tree of Kel'ashe

September 15th, 1854:

I fear that I may have pushed my luck too far today in the eyes of the Kel'ashe. As I broke down my camp and re-set it several feet closer to their home, a large male charged my camp, stopping only 10 feet from me. Though he made no physical attempts upon me, he made his message quite clear through a display of snarls and fire. It was only when I lowered myself in submission that he returned to the group. Was this a warning to leave, or a reminder of who's in charge? I'm not sure, but it is apparent that this male is the leader of the troupe. I've dubbed him "Lum'den".

Discovered in- The Tree of Kel'ashe

October 21st, 1854:

For the first time in months, I've made a remarkable discovery about the Kel'ashe. Though Lum'den's authority has been well established in my eyes, I have been able to slowly move closer to the Kel'ashe, and my patience has been rewarded. I stood roughly 25ft today from a nest, and was shocked to see it engulfed in a small, smokeless fire that surrounded the eggs, and was fed by the nest itself. Though my first reaction was concern, this feeling was stiffled by the sight of the egg's parents softly feeding the fire when it became to go out. I'm positive that this is their form of incubation.

Discovered in- The Tree of Kel'ashe

November 8th, 1854:

Every day the air grows colder, and I was startled this morning by the sight of a shallow snow-fall outside my tent. I fear that I will soon need to leave this place, but fear even more leaving behind the trust that I've built up after all these months. If I am to break the bonds now will I ever be able to regain them should I return? I am left with a difficult decision...

November 13th, 1854:

As I sit in my tent this night shivering, I make the heart-wrenching choice to return to Wrenshire for the winter, and attempt to return in the spring. I'll head out first thing tomorrow morning.

Discovered in- Second floor study of the Post Office
November 14th, 1854:

I am speechless. As I write this entry, my hand can hardly hold the quill. I am... overjoyed.

This morning when I awoke, prepared to take my leave of these woods, I found myself staring at a large cavern gapping wide from the side of the rocks that the Kel'ashe's tree rests upon. Upon closer inspection, I found the cavern to have been crudely cracked away, with evidence of scorching everywhere. More and more I am astounded by the Kel'ashe's intelligence. Could they have known that the expanding and contrasting of their fire plus the snow would weak the rock? And was this an act of violence, or were they genuinely trying to help me? Either way, this is truly a blessing. I have already moved my equipment to the cave, and feel prepared for whatever may come my way.

Discovered in- An old nest on the top floor
November 30th, 1854:

Though the days grow colder, I feel confident about what lies ahead. I have been able to gather quite a bit of food for myself in this short period of time, and there is no lack of timber in the area. I already brought with my a sufficient amount of clothing, so I see no need to return to Wrenshire any time soon.

The first snowfall of the season came late last night. I awoke to a most wonderful sight as I peered outside my cave this morning- three Kel'ashe children frolicking together no more than 20 feet from it's entrance! They seem to love the snow, and I am assuming by their age that this is their first time seeing it. They don't seem bothered by the cold at all, which suprises me since they have very little fur. Could it be that they are warm-blooded? It seems entirely possible. What excites me the most, though, is how close those children came! While I have no doubt that their mothers were watching from afar, they were nowhere that I could see. I don't want to push my luck, though this sense of trust from them I'm feeling is most rewarding!
