Ok this is my first serious topic in a while so dont kill me or whatever. One of my dear friends had a German Shepard/ Wolf mix dog, who was the sweetest and most loving thing you will ever come across in a dog, she had the build and darker colorings of the German Shepherd, but still had a thicker coat and some qualities from her wolf part as well. She was not a 'man-created' wolfdog like some say they are bred for. She just happened cause her momma had too much fun one night when she ran off. Well the german shepherd/ wolf dog got pregnant and had a litter of puppies and their daddy is a Red Heiler from down the street... again... dog had too much fun while she ran off. Well, she had a litter of 7 puppies, 5 of them black, one brown, and one blonde/red color. Five of them were boys and 2 were girls. The girls were the blonde/red colored one and the brown one. Well I acuired the blonde/red one cause she was the runt and one of the girls and i had first dibs on which ones I wanted from the owner.. cause i also am taking care of the ferrit they wanted rid of. Well that runt is now 7 months old and is the most beautiful thing you will ever see! She is a playful puppy who minds, obeys, protects, and has all the traits you could ever want in a dog. Yes, she is still a puppy and she is still learning... but she is doing well for what she is and what everything i have read about wolfdogs isnt showing up in her personality. She is also a big baby cause she is as tall as me on her hind legs when i stand up and i am 5'4". She has the body of the german shepard like her momma and she has a redder color like her daddy. Yet she has a thicker coat on her like you would see on a wolf, bigger paws, and the black skin coloring around the eyes like you would see on wolves.
This is a picture of her when I first got her:

I don't think they are savage beasts...
There is no animal that is 100% tame; cats still scratch people, dogs attack, etc. I don't think they are savage although I do believe there are laws in some places that require a domestic dog be less than 51% wolf.
My dream dog, however, would be a 50% wolf/50% Siberian Husky mix. I have seen dogs like this before and they are absolutely beautiful and extremely intelligent.
If a dog like that was to attack you though, I am sure you'd be in for some trouble.

Any animal can become a savage beast, no matter the breed, or even the species (I've got some nice scars from pissed off rabbits to back that up, too). As someone who's spent zir entire life around dogs, I can say that the temperment of a dog is not related to their breed, but rather to individual personality quirks, training, and upbringing. That's not to say that no dog is naturally vicious regardless of upbringing, just that no breed is naturally vicious.

There have been several dog attacks in Canada that has ended in fatal wounds to children and sever injuries to humans. It doesn't take a wild animal to turn on a human.

But if you want to curb any chance that your beautiful puppy could become aggresive, training young and introducing her to children while she's still young is the easiest way to teach her that children albeit loud and scary to a dog pose no real threat. The more she's around them, because they're hyper and she'll get use to them, less chance she'll be aggresive toward any human later.

Do you think that 5 kids all under the age of 10 works for that? Thats about how many people are around me... and her...

I also think that its more important how you raise an animal, even if they have some quirky personality traits I think its possible to, at least, lessen those undesirable traits. DysPerDis has a good point that any animal can be savage in nature, "savage beast".

Personally I have very little expierence training dogs, but I have lots of expierence and knowledge on training cats (and yes they can be trained). Often people told me it wasn't possible to train such an animal, that I was wasting my time. I think they just did not know much about the animal. If you take the time and effort to get information on dogs which are part wolf with them I bet its possible to train your little baby well. Like how I have trained my cat in every common way most household dogs are trained, plus he knows a few cat specifics like not scratching people or furnature; then he runs outside and climbs a tree, so he knows how to use his claws. Sorry, I have too much fun talkign about my awsome cat <3

*Merely a repeat of what's been said already*

Any animal can turn savage, it's in their nature to be wild no matter how tame they are. Extra love and care and introducing to all situations will fix most doggy bad habits.

And truly people don't give enough credit to wolves. Even wolves aren't savage they are just smart. They've figured out that humans are dangerous. We kill anything in sight and ask questions later xp .
Why would they want to be nice to us?
