Mei and the Kittenbus (めいとこねこバス, Mei to Konekobasu)

3nodding Mei and the Kittenbus (めいとこねこバス, Mei to Konekobasu) is a short 20-minute film sequel to the 1988 film My Neighbor Totoro from Studio Ghibli. It was written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and concentrates on the character of Mei from the original film and her adventures one night with the Kittenbus (offspring of the Catbus from the film) and other cat-oriented vehicles. In the film Mei, the younger sister, meets the child of the original Catbus, which is simply named Kittenbus. It is just large enough to fit Mei in, and can only stir up dust devils. They flew into the forest with many other cat-based vehicles, including different types of catbuses and cattrains, which were carrying Totoro and many other forest spirits to a catliner, which is depicted as an ancient cat.

I went to the Ghibli museum a few weeks ago on my trip to Japan. biggrin

I saw a short film. I don't know enough Japanese to know quite what was going on, but I know a kid that CLOSELY resembles young Howl gets some sort of stone, plants it in a pot, and it grows into a miniature planet! 3nodding

Visiting the museum would be a dream. Is there really no other way to see the shorts? And when the shorts are no longer playing in the museum, what happens to them? Or do they always play? In any case, if my friend ever ends up in Japan, she'll be sure to go there.

I've read about the short film about "Mei and the Kitenbus" but I've never seen it. And, YES, I'd love to visit the Ghibli Museum. 3nodding

I'm sure a person might be able to find some of the shorts online...or at least you'd think so. So many things are online nowadays, you just have to find them. 3nodding
And going to the Ghibli museum would be absolutely amazing. Just thinking about it makes me all giddy.

One can only hope that Lassiter can convince them to put it out here.

He seems to be very good at that, so I don't doubt it at all!

OH! Mei and the Kittenbus!!! I want to see that soooooooo bad! it looks so cute! (from the pictures that I have seen anyway))

I would love to go to the ghibli museum. When I plan my trip to Japan, I'm gonna make sure that I go. I was looking at more pictures from there, and man! It's so awesome looking!

If anyone comes across Mei and the Kitten bus ANYWHERE! please tell me. it it's a store near your house, or anything! I am obsesively wanting to see that. 3nodding

I would be amazing if it came to to US somehow. I want to see it really badly aswell. Even if it's in Japanese with no subtitles. My number one reason is because I want to see the kittenbus but my secound reason is because I want to see Totoro, he's in it. I sort of want to see his reaction to seeing Mai again, with the Kittenbus. Though, it probably isn't anything too big. That and he still has the umbrella! mrgreen OH!! I'm so giddy now.

from personal experience, that particular museum is by reservation only, and it's typically several weeks notice before you can get in.

eah. Very true. I made my reservations 3 months in advance. It was entirely worth it!
