I was thinking about making a new club for my school called the "Animal Rights Club". The ARC would raise money for local non-kill animal shelters and we'd hold pet food drives to help feed the animals in non-kill animal shelters and we'd volenteer at vet's offices and non-kill animal shelters. I think it would be really neat.
But those three ideas are the only ones I have...so I was hopeing you guys could help me come up with some ideas and give me your opinion on the ARC.
{I'm not all that religious or anything, so Animal Rights Club being "ARC" was a complete and udder coincidence.}

That sounds like a great idea!
Other things you could possibly do would be to order some information leaflets and posters and run a stall in your city or town to raise awareness of Animal Rights issues with the public. You could also have veggie/vegan recipies printed out for people to try and suggestions for other ways people could help animals eg. getting an animal from a shelter rather than buying from a breeder and boycotting animal-tested cosmetics.
You could hold peaceful protests outside places of animal abuse such as fast-food restaurants, vivisection laboritorys, betting shops etc.
If you have a sympathetic teacher at school you could ask to do a presentation about an Animal Rights issue to the other students. Maybe they'd let you show a video.
Anyway, Good Luck with it. 3nodding

I'm interested to see how you're received! I'd honestly be worried about starting such a group because I'd feel like I'm making myself vulnerable to people who don't agree with me. Many times I've felt worried in a class because kids would joke about the terrible things they've done to animal rights protesters.
I got crap from people after I just wanted to start recycling. The school didn't want to pay for recycling, so they suggested I do a club. I couldn't get people to join, but I complained enough that they finally started recycling my senior year of high school. It didn't last very long because students kept throwing non-recyclables in the bins.
@ffffff10: If you want to start a club, talk to your student activities coordinator. If you're unsure, first talk to your counselor and she/he can help you get started.

Actually, I'm used to making myself vulnerable to people who don't agree, because I'm very open about my beliefs. Not only about animal rights and vegetarianism, but about my religon {Wicca} and my sexuality {bisexual}, so it wouldn't really phase me if people gave me crap about it. *shrugs* Oh well. But thanks for your concern! heart

How's it going so far? Have you started the club?
It's great that you've discovered so many vegetarians at your school. biggrin ! I'm a lone vegetarian and if any omnivores are "open minded" enough to want to discuss vegetarianism with me (i.e. why I am stupid), they have nothing to say on the matter aside from, "Meat is delicious."
How do you deal with people who don't agree with you? I honestly try to hide my vegetarianism because when people find out, on the whole, they're just mean to me. It's one thing if people want to have a real discussion about an issue, but they don't listen to me and just try to hurt my feelings.
