As the students enter the History of Magic classroom for the first time, they notice a tall bald teacher sitting at the desk, reading a book. He is dressed in a long black cloak. The students sit down and wait, but seeing that he continues reading they begin talking and playing. Suddenly he stands up and says loudly to the students "Settle down now, class!", but no one pays atention.
Banging a ruler on the desk the teacher shouts "Be quiet! Everybody to their seats!" Silence fall inmediately and the students go quietly to their places. "Thats better" the teacher grunts. "My name is Professor Efintale Hachtrent. For many years I have traveled the world, making investigations on all of the magical comunities. The story of my life is long and I shall not bore you with it. I am here to pass on my knowledge and hopefully you will profit from it. Today we will learn about witch burning during the Middle Ages." Professor Hachtrent picked up the same book he was reading before and began to recite:
"In the midieval times, Muggles were very afraid of magic. They designed terrible tests to prove whether an individual was a witch/wizard or not. " Professor Hachtrent pauses in his reading and looks around at the students. "Why aren't you all taking notes?" The students hastily pull out their quills and start taking notes. The teacher looks at them all and smiles, satisfied, then he continues reading:
"The Muggles were, however, complete fiascos when it came to actually identifying magic. In the rare times that they actually discovered a true witch or wizard, their torture had no negative effects upon the individual.
The first test that the Muggles had was drowning the person. If the person survived, he or she was definitly a witch or wizard. If the person died, the Muggles would say that the person was not affiliated with magic and everybody was sorry for their death. The witches and wizards of those times could easily survive this test by using the popular Bubble-Head charm.
If the Muggles decided the person was a witch or wizard, the next step was to burn that person at the stake. Naturally, if the individual was a true witch or wizard, they would only have to perform the basic Flame-Freezing incantation and the fire that would envelope their body, would provide a quite pleasant feeling." Professor Hachtrent puts down the book and says to the students:
"Class time is up. Next class we will learn about some important witches and wizards of this time. Please copy the homework down and you may go."
