Non-Magical Self-Defense Class
The tall gothic towers of Windsor Academy seem to scratch the sky with their impressive height and breadth that sings the unnatural against the wooded landscape. Upon entering the main hall of the center building, eyes catch on guilded portraits and ornate stairwells, but there is one door that remains unmarked and undecorated in the back corner of the foyer.
Enter into that humble door, and it will lead you to the dungeoness cathedral beneath the school, the home of the Non-Magical Self-Defense classroom. A long corridor lit by torches ends at three doors; the center door is the largest of the two and the only one that remains unlocked.
It, too, is simple, excluding a single wooden sign hanging on the door that reads "NON-MAGICAL SELF-DEFENSE" in large blue lettering. Beneath this, in much smaller print, there is another message that bears the phrase, "Enter the classroom of Professor Macgoren in complete silence."
Push the heavy wooden door open to enter, and view the vast span and height of the dungeon cathedral.
The room itself bears very few decorations save a large rug in the center and a speckling of armor and weapons covering the walls. There are no windows and no desks. If the professor stands for the entire class period, then the students do too. It's an exercise in stamina.
The only pieces of furniture in the room are two large magically sealed cabinets and one long table running between them along the far wall. Also, a white leopard pelt lays piled in the corner and is generally seen flattened by the commanding form of the professor's shewolf, Freya.
There is another door on the opposite side of the room that leads to a stairwell that can take the students to one of the courtyards incased by the main building. This area is used for more open battles, and Professor Macgoren tends to alternate class between the cathedral and the courtyard regularly to familiarize her students with the effect of environment on a battle.
Dark and dank, the Non-Magical Self-Defense classroom is notoriously quiet and infamously cold; any disruption of either by anyone other than the Professor herself is strictly prohibited.
So, bite all tongues and enter into the classroom of Professor Skadi Macgoren.

Classroom Rules 1. Never open your mouth when I am speaking. 2. Never raise your hand unless I ask for questions or someone is bleeding. 3. Never attempt any combat manuever that I have not previously taught you or given permission to use. 4. Never harm another student intentionally. 5. Never complain about the temperature in my classroom. If it bothers you, dress appropriately. 6. Never pet Freya or disturb her bed. 7. Never touch a weapon unless I give you permission or hand it to you myself. 8. Never enter my personal office without knocking. 9. Never disrespect the sacred art of combat. 10. Never talk back to me.
Breaking any of the listed rules will result in immediate detention of my choosing. Repeatedly compromising the safety of other students' well-being will result in private, intensive instruction with me or explusion.OOC Classroom Rules 1. In a fight, the Professor will act as a game moderator, and based on your student's backgroud, I will post what happens from each blow that takes place. You do not decide whether or not the hit/block is successful unless I give the permission for you to self-moderate. If students are fighting when the professor is not around, you may do as you please, but remember, if you are caught, you will suffer IC consequences. 2. Try to stick to a posting order as best as you can, but if someone doesn't post repeatedly, they will be skipped and class will continue without them. When they return, they can comment on what has happened, but it will be assumed that their student did not learn the particular fighting style as well as the others unless the absence/inactivity is discussed with me. 3. If you are making your character too skilled at several different fighting styles, I will let you know OOCly to edit your post. Part of the beauty of a character is their weaknesses. If your student is an exceptional magic user, they aren't going to be super-strong and multi-talented at combat as well. 4. I am willing to have private sessions in this classroom with students who need tutoring or are just looking for individual training. Or if you have two characters who wish to have a friendly duel, that is fine as long as you ICly ask the professor first. Don't be upset if I deny the private session though. If I am too busy, I might be inclined to say no for the time being. Just ask again later. 5. I would very much like to have a TA for this class, but I want to wait for my first class before I pick someone. If you think that your character is really cut out for it, shoot me a PM, and I will set up an IC interview. 6. As always, feel free to PM me about any problems or suggestions!

The hallways of Windsor Academy were quiet on this evening, excluding the few students who scrambled to and fro between classes, as Skadi Macgoren entered her classroom with a purpose. Heavy-heeled boots clicked their pathway across the stone of the dungeon cathedral of the Non-Magical Self-Defense classroom, pausing before the furthermost corner where the commanding form of Freya the shewolf lay sleeping on her tiger skin bed.
"Freya," came the strong voice of the professor, staring down at the wolf. "Get the students here." Without another word, Skadi turned on her heel, walking into her office and shutting the door.
The giant blur of white was up in an instant, moving out of the classroom and into the hallway. Running up stairwells to the very top, the wolf paused, opened her mouth, and howled loudly once before proceeding to the next floor and repeating this so that a trail of howls would lead all students toward the classroom.
Freya paused in the Grand Foyer for several minutes as she waited, howling and howling until all the students came out to follow her and see what the commotion was about. As soon as they arrived, the wolf trotted toward the door that led to the cathedral and began pawing at the door as she waited for the first student to open it.
Upon pushing the door open, all students enter the cathedral only to find it empty of a teacher, excluding the shewolf who seats herself at the center.

(( [edit] is this better? )) As Sano walked into the classroom he glanced at the sign, Non-Magical Self-Defense, ugh a stupid class on something that wasn’t magical. He stood in an area nearest the center and Freya. He crossed his arms and waited, ignoring the complaining students who where new too the Academy. A boy in his year glanced towards Freya and spotted Sano, he backed away, followed by the other students around Sano, and those students fell silent and watched him. Sano tapped his foot impatiently, did these students really have to be so damn paranoid?!

(([edit] Alright Akina, thank you. I fixed it accordingly. That should be all ^_^))
Hanille did not flock with the other students, as she preferred to stay away from large groups of people. In fact, she stayed near the door.
"I wonder how this class will turn out..."
Indeed, she remembered very vividly reading the sign outside; "Non-Magical Self-Defense". Hanille knew this class would pose as a great obstacle for her already. She lifted the hood of her robe over her head, noting that the lower parts of it were tarnished and covered a bit in mud.
"This robe saves me from the cold inside this room...even so though, sleeping in a cold church probably makes me resistant to the temperature of this room..."
Her thoughts wandered back to Herbology, and she wondered how she would survive the greenhouse.
"Hopefully I'll be okay...at least my professor is kind...she reminds me of Magnus..."
Hanille set her backpack gently down beside her, and pressed her back against the wall, closing her eyes as she did so, "I hope this professor is as kind as my Herbology professor; I've dealt with enough cruelty in my life already."
All of these thoughts flowed throughout her mind like the waters of a brook, very calmly and gently. Hanille suddenly felt the urge to chuckle, and she held this back with much force, "The elf actually expected me to help her...HA! Like I would go in that greenhouse. She may be pretty, but that's not going to sway me."
So, Hanille waited for somebody to either notice her, or for the teacher to show themself, hoping that this class wouldn't be extremely difficult.

(( One quick note, guys. None of you should have any idea at all which class this is. I mean, all that your characters are aware of is that there is a wolf beckoning people to follow her. It's okay to have your student suspect that this might be a class about to start, but there is absolutely no way that they would know that it is Non-Magical Self-Defense.
Your students should just follow the wolf where she leads, and once you are inside the classroom, then the professor will tell you which class it is and yadda yadda. Also, Skadi is new to the school so no one will know her. Not her name, not what she looks like, not anything.
Also, Rikku, you can't NPC a large group of students like that. I mean, it's okay to say something like, "A few girls walked by." But you are giving your NPCs emotions and directing them.
Just a few notes. <3 If you all wouldn't mind editting your posts just a little bit, please. ^_^
[edit] Yes, if you post that they have read the sign, then yes. ^^ I moreso meant that Rikku shouldn't know when in the hallway which class this is. ))

Col followed the giant wolf into the classroom with not nearly as much surprise as she should have. Sure, the woman did c**k an eyebrow when she had heard the beast’s initial howls, but otherwise, showed little astonishment or fear. The animal’s size was cause for much internal shock however. Silently, Coltrane wondered if this was not a full blood wolf as it appeared, but an enormous hybrid. The woman had seen some of those first-hand and knew of the size they could achieve.
The girl’s thought process was interrupted by a yawn, which she stifled behind her hand. Her previous occupation had made her accustomed to long hours, but Col realized that she must have been awake for at least fifty some odd hours now, as she had not slept at all during the last leg of her journey to the school, and had not gotten a chance to since. Plus, Col did admit to herself that she had allowed herself to grow out of the habit with extremely long sleep hours since the last stages of her pregnancy.
Still, Col fought off the discomfort and found a spot to stand so that she might lean against a wall if she needed to. Not that she planed to though. The woman had not gotten the opportunity to go to her dorm since her last class, so she still wore her hunting knife at her waist, her dagger on the back of her thigh, as well as the sharpened spike tucked into her left boot and a myriad of other concealed weaponry that discouraged any comfort. And on that note, the leather that made up most of her outfit was not the most comfortable.
Looking around, the woman saw that she was one of the first students to get to class. Even so, Col knew that she had not arrived terribly early, and so wondered why there was no one to be considered the teacher in the room yet. Unless that giant wolf is to teach us, the girl thought to herself with a smile.

The parting of ways within the dormitory had been a bit awkward. Col hadn't really had the chance to introduce herself when the howling began. Rather, the three students simply walked toward the innards of the main castle, the pleasantries of 'introductions' fading as they marched. Halfway there, Jedrek chose to introduce her to Miné regardless. Col had been some way ahead of them when Jedrek, who was walking directly beside Miné spoke, "Her name is Coltrane. Things seem a bit out of place at the moment.." he apologized for a girl he barely knew.
As they entered the castle, Jedreks minor pangs of guilt became much stronger. He hoped that the presence of a rather large wolf would not dredge up painful memories of the occurence in the woods. It really had tarnished his image in Miné's eyes, he supposed.
Upon entering the surprisingly bare, Jedreks eyes quickly skimmed the decidedly plain sign. "Non-magical self defense.." he murmured partially to himself and partially to Miné. The headmaster had taught this class before, and this was definitely not the course of action Headmaster Windsor would take. Jedreks interest was thoroughly piqued in regards to the new professor.
He leaned against a nearby wall, pulling his hair our from behind him to keep it clean. His fathers sword remained sheathed at his side, something he would never let go of.

:: Continued from here. ::As a hunter and a forest girl, Hayana had seen many wolves before and she had grown to like them. Still, memories of recent events made themselves reminded and in any case it was a bit eerie to see a large wolf prowling the castle grounds. In a way it was a bit comforting too. She didn't like the stone corridors or the murky rooms, much more preferring to be out in the sun. She was always outside when not eating, sleeping or having a class, and she had considered sleeping on the roof a few times. The wolf had told the students to come. Hayana was still a bit uncomfortable with understanding animals, but just like with normal chatter she could shut it out for the most part. Shutting out a series of loud howls was harder. She followed the animal and soon found herself by a door with a sign on it. Other students were already inside and she noticed that some of them were new and some were familiar. Following the sign, Hayana walked in and sat down without a word, nodding in recognition to some of the others. She had always liked fighting and she was truly relieved that not all things were about magic around here. Her animal and forest empathy was not under any control yet and with physical combat, she knew where she stood.

Freya watched all the students carefully as they filed in, keeping her haunches relaxed on the ground. She did not pant nor wag her tail like the stereotypical dog would, but then again, the shewolf was definitely not an ordinary canine. Instead, she yawned once, revealing massive pointed canines, and uttered a low growl whenever a student tried to get too close.
Class would start soon, but it did not appear as though all the students had filed in yet.

Edward slipped into the room with a practiced ease. It was an entrance not of a thief, or somebody wishing to not draw attention to themselves. Nor, was it an entrance of somebody who wanted to be center stage, or that of a hamfisted warrior. There seemed to be a slight disturbence in the general vincinity of the door and then Edward appeared as if out of nowhere.
The wolf glanced at him and growled as he approached absentmindedly. A quick glance down for Edward verified that, yes, there was a set of teeth with bits of fur hanging off it, in front of him. Shrugging, Edward walked over to the familiar form of Jedrek and leaned up against the wall and shut his eyes till they were slits observing the room. "So, I'm pretty sure this isn't the Animal Husbandry class, any clue as to what we are doing here?" He shivered, his body heat went into the cold floor through his bare feet, and for a while it would remain cold before being warmed up to a comfortable temperature.

Hanille's pulse quickened as more students entered into the class, and she knew that there would probably be more on the way, because this was not an elective. She shuddered slightly from these thoughts, and slid down until she was sitting on the floor.
Hanille loosened a strap on the side of her backpack, and pulled forth a flask of water. She fiddled with the cap a bit, and then tipped the container up, drinking it until she was content.
"I'm running out of water..."
Her flask was very light now, and this was the last one. She would have to find a place to re-supply soon. Placing the flask back into her pack, Hanille fastened the strap and pulled her legs up against her, leaning her head on her knees as she did so.
"So far so good...nobody has approached me. 'Tis nice being a new student...nobody knows you, so they won't bother with you..."
