This is my opinion on the beauty industry *monster actually* and beauty products...here we go.
I beleave make up is ugly. It creates a standered of what is considered beauty and what is ugly. It gives into the industry that unfortunaly my mother is a part of *she sells products and knowledgebly, at least by me, fake and don't do jack S**t*. Why should we give into the media ruse of beauty on the outside? We've closed the blinds on looking on the inside of people where real beauty is. It's become a socity that frankly makes me sad. My little sister try's to emulate all of her pop idols that are what are considered "pretty" by her friends and her. I've seen interviews with these so called Idols and there is nothing there to idolise. They are quite vacant people and their music serves no purpose *hillary duff talks about being "made up" for her boy friends alot within her music and within her videos*. Where is the future leading us, a very dark and scary place my friends.

Usually I don't care too much for women who wear makeup. My girlfriend doesn't wear makeup and I think she's beautiful the way she is. There are some things that I just think look better natural such as having normal eyebrows and not wearing lipstick. However there is some makeup I think makes people more pretty like Jakotsu from Inuyasha. His blue makeup below his eyes looks very pretty to me. If they made face paint like that for guys I would wear it every day.

Personally, I think makeup looks disgusting. I like women who look "natural" - even though they have makeup now that's supposed to make you look "natural" - I mean, what the ******** a woman's choice, though.
But beauty standards are total bullshit.

You could wear stage makeup or clown makeup, but it wouldn't be very comfortable. xd Some makeup imitates what people look like when they are sexually aroused. Your lips and cheeks get pinker, as well as your nail beds, which explains why people wear lipstick, blush, and red nail polish. That would make girls look like they're ready to have sex (to make babies), which would make them more attractive from an evolutionary standpoint. I would prefer to have a girl look like she is sexually aroused because she is sexually aroused, and not when she isn't, but that's not a very mainstream view.

Maybe that's why makeup doesn't really appeal to me. Being asexual I don't find anything attractive about a sexually aroused female.

I guess it's a person's choice. I used to love painting my nails and wearing (aka smearing all over) lipstick. Beauty standard should be up to the person to decide... hopefully it's a decison not influenced too much by the media, but it's still their decision. What I can't stand is people telling others what they should do with their own bodies and faces.

I think makeup sucks, in general. I don't like it, I don't wear it. But I'm not going to dictate what others should do.
One can still be feminist a wear makeup. Although, I do believe the beauty industry is an almost conscious effort to control women, almost.

I must be the only one here who enjoys makeup. rofl
Without it, I seriously look like a nightmare. Dark circles under my eyes... I also have fair skin, but my cheeks are very pale without any blush on so I look rather unnatural. I like playing with colors and I like the look of makeup. Besides at work and school, where you have to look your best, makeup is needed. I can't find anyone hiring me if I look ill-groomed.
I went through a stage where I wore no make-up and then one day I looked in the mirror and realised I didn't like the way I looked without it. I always looked pale and tired.

vegan_chica I must be the only one here who enjoys makeup. rofl Maybe. Does that bother you? Quote: Without it, I seriously look like a nightmare. Dark circles under my eyes... Besides at work and school, where you have to look your best, makeup is needed. I can't find anyone hiring me if I look ill-groomed. I don't think anyone looks like a nightmare if they are themselves. Dark circles are cured with more sleep and unnatural skin tone is either not cured, in which case it's natural or cured by spending more time outside. You don't have to look your best at school, because you are there to learn, not to impress people. At work... make-up is completely optional and should never be viewed as a necessity. I completely understand your want to wear make-up, and I respect it, but your reasoning is slightly off. Quote: I went through a stage where I wore no make-up and then one day I looked in the mirror and realised I didn't like the way I looked without it. I always looked pale and tired. Again, for most people that can be cured with more sleep, or with some medication.

I'm just one of those people. *shrug* Yeah, I don't get very much sleep. xd I don't really have a choice though, all the studying and reading and such. Busy person I am. I tend to shy away from medications. I don't like weird side effects.

But beauty standards are total bullshit. Hahhaha, the sheer idea of makeup that is supposed to make you look "natural" has always been just beyond absurd to me. I finally quit wearing makeup totally about 6 months ago, when I had a real feminist awakening. I have never worn much, but I threw out all my beauty products one day and haven't worn it since. Hehehe, my boss doesn't like that much. He's actually told me I should start wearing makeup to work. I told him to shove it or I'll sue him for discrimination. ^_^ *beams innocently* He said okay. xD
