I recently got my first tattoo and right towards the end I felt lightheaded and happy. I felt high. I do smoke weed and I know this feeling well. It was a natural high and I wish it lasted longer.
Have any of you experience anything smiliar?

I did, only when I had my first 2 piercings - tongue and n****e, done in the same hour. I don't know why it happened.. I presume its from the adrenaline.

Maybe you were just really happy to get it done whee I remember when I finally got my snake bites done, which I was waiting for quiet a while to do, When I stepped out the parlour after finishing I felt I could tackle hug the next person xd

getting tattooed/pierced releases endorphins into your blood to deal with pain and shock.
drugs make your body produce endorphins.
So yes. They can feel the same.

They can feel the same. yep and the natural high you get from the endorphins, is why some people get addicted to getting tattoo'd. Some substances such as valium and alcohol actually prohibit the release of endorphins, so it's another reason why tattooist prefer it is you come in sober and not take anything.

Yeah I had a similar experience but mine was like an hour in. Although I did have a 6 hour run so that may have had somehing to do with it. Unfortunately endorphins are only produced by the body for a limited amount of time naturally. Because of this, after the first hour, I had a big low and then I just felt the pain without any natural pain killers. That was an adventure.

I had a light headed high after my first work was done, true I was in the chair for about 3.5 hours. I was completely gitty by the time it was said and done. I still get a little gitty with every new bit of ink I get but never quite like the first time.

Aren't endorphins fun?
I definitely felt a happy little buzz when my wristband was done, even though it didn't take all that long and wasn't really all that painful. But it was my first piece of ink, my own design, and everyone at the studio was super-nice (and complimented my calligraphy, and my baking!) so I'd have been floating around in a really good mood even without the extra endorphin kick. 4laugh
Piercings, I haven't noticed quite so much of that little rush, but none of mine have been all that painful either, and of course they're over and done with so much quicker than a tattoo.

i had no effect at all after my first one (very small, on my hip). However, my rib piece (which is my entire side) was excrutiating pain... afterwards I was shaking for almost 15 minutes, and also each break we took. Never got that high feeling. I actually wish I did, it'd be a lot better.

I get extremely happy after every tattoo I get. I love the feeling I get from it. I guess that is why I keep getting more.
