I'm building a knitting section in my campus library. Price is not yet a concern. It must cover basically the whole learning curve, and be an equally good resource for those just learning to knit as for those who'd qualify for Master Knitters. There should be basic learn-how books, stitch dictionaries, garment construction theory as well as specific patterns, lace books, sock books, one or two books in unexpected design, and any other books that are so useful, they're honestly worth more than the sticker price. I have a small list so far, but I don't want to influence your responses smile What would you recommend?

You can find those books at any book store. I know borders has them.
Ummm, well there is a series of book with stiches in them. "101 knitting stiches" or something like that. I think there's three or four of them.

Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch is an awesome sock knitting book. It covers a lot of basics, and it has charts for sizing them, and how to adapt the patterns to your gauge, so you can do any of the patterns with a variety of yarn, from fingering to worsted weight. It also gives directions for three methods of knitting: knitting with 3 dpns, knitting with 4 dpns, and knitting with 2 circulars.
There is also a More Sensational Knitted Socks book slated to come out at the end of March this year.
