TIP: Always try to draw your pictures with light pencil lines so that it is easy to erase if you mess up. If you make the lines too dark it may leave an indent in the paper or residue from the lead.
Step 1: Every drawing starts out with simple geometrical shapes. Faces are generally made out of circles, ovals, and triangles. For this tutorial, we're going to use the circle. Light sketch a circle that is slightly wider than it is high.

Step 2: Next draw a straight line (as straight as possible. As you can see, mine is a bit crooked emo ) from the top of the head and past the bottom.

TIP: If you want an extra straight line, you may use a ruler or other straight edge. If you're too cheap to buy one, like me, or simply don't have one, just sort of wing it.
Step 3: Draw a curved line from each side of the sphere to the point of the line. These will serve as the guidelines for the cheeks.

Step 4: Now erase the curved horizontal guideline, leaving the vertical one in the drawing.

Step 5: Add two horizontal lines about a third of the way from the top and a third of the way from the bottom. Next, draw two small lines a third of the way from the lower horizontal line you just drew and a third of the way up from the point of the chin. These will be the guidelines for the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Step 6: Draw two circles between the top two lines. These will be the eyes. Next draw the ears, starting from the top of the first line to about halfway past the second one.

Step 7: Erase the larger horizontal guidlines and darken the outer rim of the circles. Add a point at the ends to give the eyes some depth.

Step 8: Begin adding details to the face. Put circles in the upper corners of the eyes to create shines. Draw two small lines above the eyes to represent the eyelids. This will give your character a more realistic look. Also, don't forget to add detail to the ears.

TIP: A common mistake that beginners make is drawing the shines on the opposite sides of the eyes. This is very unrealistic since the light source is normally only coming from one direction. Make sure both shines are either on the right side or the left side.
Step 9: Finally, add the last details. The nostril on the side of the nose is optional. It's usually only used in more realistic drawing. Make sure the mouth is a curved line, not straight and draw black circles in the middle of the eyes for the pupils. Now, just clean up any rough lines and you're all set! You've just drawn an anime face!
