Roleplaying All You Need to Know

Roleplaying is essentially creating a character and using your imagination and descriptive text to make that character come alive. But with roleplaying comes a few rules and regulations. Listed below will be some of the rules along with a quick guide into how to make your roleplaying more realistic and desirable.

Rules and Regulations

1. First and foremost, keep things PG-13.
2. Please refrain from using netspeak, it's understandable if you don't know how to spell a word, but replacing letters with numbers/symbols is not very respected.
3. Please put effort into your post, doing so will make your character seem more alive.
4. No stealing/copying a character, PERIOD.
5. Don't Power Play/God Mode, it's not respected, plain and simple.
6. Refrain from Spamming, that's what the Chatterbox is for.
7. Don't be rude.
8. Originality is key to making your roleplay a good one.
9. When roleplaying, establish some form of OOC.

Roleplaying: A Quick Guide

When roleplaying there are two distinct formats: symbol style, and semi-para. The easiest of the two is symbol style, and is generally shunned upon when roleplaying in a large, multi-user, literate roleplay.

Symbol Style, uses some form of asteriks, periods, or other combination of symbols to show action whilst posting dialouge in normal text. This is a no-no when posting in an RP thread here in this guild.

Semi-para uses normal text to describe a scene, what a character does, and then in quotation marks will be dialouge, or what your character says.

An example of semi-para is as follows.

Draxe
He looked up at the huge white door, afraid to touch it, but afraid not to. With a determined stance he reaches out for the door, falling into the unknown.

Something similar, will only garner you praise and happiness.

*Raises hand* Is it important at all that we have several paragraps/lengthy posts as we rp, or is it acceptable to only have one or two sentances at a time?

Preferrably more than one sentence, unless you're suffering from major writer's block, but even then, simple sentences can be friends.
