environment: cloudy, dreary weather that doesn't really deserve to be called weather.
status: beth is not in, nora is not in. the reception desk is empty, but it seems more busy with people in lab coats than usual.
shy: is trying to figure out where he has hidden all of his candy stashes. So extremely surly and childish.

Zhai walked in, holding Novena's gloved hand. She looked a bit lost as she approached the reception desk and noted the absence of a person minding the desk. She also noticed the flurry of activity flying about the establishment. her silver hair was pulled back into a bun today, with several strands dotting her face and she was in her usual silver and black robes of her temple. She cleared her throat loudly before soeaking. " I have an appointment for Novena to have her medical check-up."
Novena sipped her liqid lunch through a starw cup and was dressed much like a baby doll today, her black hair a mass of little curls and she was wearing a dark blue doll like dress with lace around the top and the bottom of the skirt. knee high socks reached up her legs and tiny dark blue doll shoes were upon her feet. She had a tiny albino bat sitting on her left shoulder as she drank from her cup and looked around at the activity with apprehensive interest.

The person who stopped gave Zhai a vague look of irritation. They had better things to do than help some stranger around. But then their eyes fastened on the fae, and stopped.
"Shy should be in his office." he answered flippantly. And then thought better of leaving the woman alone. "Take the elevator to the thirteenth floor, and then to right. It's the biggest door. You can't miss it."
He had now done what he had needed to for society.
Now he could get back to work.

Zhai was not a fool, she could read emotion in lifeforms very well and she felt odd with her unicorn heritage sticking out like a sore thumb.. I mean who could miss the silver horn protruding from her forehead? She nodded and ina voice that sounded like a whisper in the wind, she thanked the person for their directions. She approached what was the elevator.. useless contraption if you asked her and took her fae charge's hand and led her into it. " Novena.. this world is so odd. Why not just have teleportation pools.. so much more simple then all these.. machina." She said as she stared at the control panel on the elevator rather cluelessly.
Novena simply reached over and pressed "13" and the doors closed and up they went. The little bat fae was extremely intelligent when it came to any kind of machine or anything related to science. She took a particular facination in biology however and was currently learning about the various genetic codes of different species. She could not quite read these books on her own of course but Zhai obliged her by reading them, since Zhai had the ablity to see in the dark and Novena prefered the less light, the better.
The elevator doors opened at the correct floor and admited them both to the floor as they stepped out the now open doors. Novena walked ahead of Zhai, as she turned tot he right, almost like she knew where she was going. The little girl had no concept of what a shut door meant, being there was never a door off limits to her back at the Temple of Valarian, the Unicorn god. She turned the knob to see if the door would open then announced herself in her melodic whisper.
" Professor Shy, I am Novena and I have an appointment for health." She said, more confidantlyt han she felt and finished her meal quickly and deposited the cup in her small hand bag on ehr left side. She then took the bat from her shoulder and cradled it to her chest like a precious tresure as she and Zhai waited to be called in.

Novena, was it? Looking up from where he had just recently finished going through his files (sometimes he hid candy in there) he nodded. The door open with a graceful swing. It was made that way, after all.
Novena, was it? A slight frown nudged his forehead as he nodded. He wasn't feeling up to the talking, to any of it, but... "Hello." there was no need to introduce himself. "Please, have a seat. Help yourself to anything that looks good." sure there were pastries.
But Shy was craving his candy stash.
Typing in a few numbers on the keyboard, he pulled up her file and nodded. Giving her tutors notice shouldn't take very long.
"How have you been, Novena?" he asked, smiling.

Novena's ruby red eyes narrowed as the light in the room made them water. She silently pulled herself into a chair and let the white bat flitter onto her left shoulder as she pulled out a pair of sunglasses and slid them on. She then looked over to her Guardian who had now entered the room. " I been alright.. other than light hurt eyes lots and sun make skin burn bad." She spoke, her speaking was getting a bit more coherant. Learning the common tongue was her second language, Valarian was her first tongue.
Zhai nodded to her charge's statement. " She seems to particularly love biology, She always has me read a section of the books on such subjects before she sleeps at night. I have also noticed she can't seem to eat anything solid, I have to pureeé everything for her into a liquid form, she does not see well at all, forgive the expression here, but blind as a bad appiles perfectly. She also refuses to sleep right side up.. I had to have her bed tailored so she could sleep like her bat friend there." Zhai told him, covering all she thought was of relevance.
Novena stroked the bat gently and pulled a bag of out her backpack and walked over and sat it on Shy's desk. " Sweets.. for you. Aunt Ruveila said you liked candy."

Shy beamed. "Aunt, is it?" taking it from her gladly, he nodded his head. "Thank you very much, Novena." he murmured. Deciding that he could return the favor, Shy walked over to the wall, entered a manual control to dim the lights.
Dusk, but darker. The brink before it would fully become night time. Satisfied with this, he walked over, concerned. "Is this better" he asked.
She was one of his fae. He hardly wanted her to suffer.
"It is good to hear, Zhai." he responded soberly, nodding his head. All the things he had said were processed and put into their own places. A studous one, was it?
Well, there was always a first time for everything.
"Your tutors will be arriving soon." he said gently. "Meanwhile, do you have any questions you want to see answered?"

Since the light was no longer searing her eyes, the bat fae removed the sunglasses. She then stared at Shy with eyes that almost seemed to glow a little in the darker room. " Thank.. you. I am greatful for less light. " She said with a timid little smile.
Zhai never smiled much herself but a hint of one was upon her silvery lips. " She has tutors... oh right, fae ones. Forgive me.. its been a long week for us. My only real concern for her is the fact that she can't seem to chew anything. She also has these elongated teeth... " Zhai said as she motioned Novena to open her mouth, which the fae did.
Novena's teeth all looked normal, save the two long straw like ones, appeared to almost function as such. " Chewing make me choke." Novena said softly as she stroked her pet in her lap.

Shy nodded, slightly concerned. "When her tutors arrive, hopefully we will be able to solve the problem." he tilted his head. It might just be that she wasn't on the diet she needed to be, but.
"I'm sure everything will be fine, Novena." he said gently, nodding his head as if trying to put his point across even further. "I'll help out in any way I can, alright?"

" Otay." Novena replied as she pulled out an apple and sunk her "fangs" into it and almost like a vampire would, she began to suck the juices out of the succulant fruit.
" That right there is what I am talking about. Also, she refuses to part with that bat there and I am scared its going to bite her." Zhai said in a calm tone, the horn on her forehead glowing softly in the dim light of the room.

"I'm sure it'll be fine." he said, assuring the woman. "Usually it's the case that fae who originate from a certain flora or fauna find themselves impervious to harm from said flora and fauna." he hoped so, anyways.
There weren't too many fae with animal backgrounds running around.
As he opened his mouth to elaborate, two fae walked into the room.
A man with short white hair and golden eyes smiled as he nodded his head. "Will you be my new charge then?" he exclaimed, delighted. "My name is Jiro, sweetheart." he said, nodding.
A woman who seemed to fade into thin air in areas, like a ghost more than a proper fae laughed. "I'm Kalis." she said, friendly. Eager. "We're going to be your tutors."

Novena arched an eyebrow. " So let get down to business yes.. got lot to do back home.." She said, rising to her feet gracefully, her clothing shifting in a almost silent rustle as she moved over to them and spoke to Zhai in the tongue of the unicorn before waiting beside her tutors.
Zhai smiled, having understood that it was Novena's way of comforting her when she spoke in her native tongue. She looked over to Shy. " She is quite the gift... Being a High Priestess is not so terribly lonely with her there." She said with a smile as she shifted to a more human form, though her skin retained the ethereal shine and her long ears were still pointed and there. " I have fae blood coursing through my veins as well but my father was a unicorn shapeshifter.. " She shared with hiim for some reason.

Jiro beamed, and nodded his head, offering her his arm. "Now sweetheart, follow me." he stated, nodding his head. "We'll have you back in a jiffy!"
Kalis merely rolled her eyes. Sucker. The man was a sucker for a pretty face. "Sure." she said, and nodded her head. "Shy."
Shy nodded back, acknowledging their departure, and then turned to look back at Zhai. "How nice." unicorn shapeshifter? Well, he didn't have any of that in his blood bank. Maybe he could ask her for a donation...
Who knew when unicorn shapeshifter DNA could come in handy in the end.
((unless Zhai has questions, med eval will be out in my next post. ^^))

Zhai fingered her long sleek silver hair as she regarded Shy with a gentle gaze. " Usually I hate humans, being I was raised that they are unicorn killers, but you do not strike me as the Hunter type." She said softly, anxious for Novena to return.
