Did you know she also said one person got a repreive?

I originally thought that too. What clued me into it was the cover page of the Canadian release. It shows the ring on the spine of the cover with a lightning bolt crack through it. I got to thinking that maybe the damage is made when the horcrux is made, not when it is destroyed, and Harry's scar is not a result of the Avada Kadavra curse, but of the making of a horcrux. I dwelled on this theory for a long time .... then I came across some other random interview with JKR where she basically discounted the fact that Harry is a horcrux.

I also thought for a while that Ginny might serve as another horcrux of sorts. When she was taken into the Chamber of Secrets in book 2, Riddle says that he was able to put a bit of himself into her the more secrets and trust she revealed to him. How fitting would that be if Harry was made to choose between destroying the person he "loves" and destroying evil? That ties in the whole sacrifice and choices between what is right and what is easy thing, which I think will become a very relevant theme in book 7. But I think that was also shot down in some form.

(What generally happens, is that I have theories, and then I read something somewhere that says they are wrong or JKR shoots them down in some interview. At that point I completely discount the original theory that I had and lose track of whatever was said about it, and where it was disproven. I know I should be keeping better track of these things, but that hasn't happened. Sorry everyone, for my vague references to "interviews"!)

I must have missed reports of that interview, but rest assured, I will be headed to the Leaky-Cauldron to find it after I finish with this response.

I would love to think that Harry survives book 7. I love the fact that JKR seems to be hinting in that direction!

There is a constant war going on in my head as to whether Harry will die or not. One part of my brain says that JKR couldn't possibly have Harry die because: 1) it just doesn't fit with the style of writing she has been following thus far 2) Harry dying basically says "evil triumphs over goodness" and 3) the series was first and foremost a children's series. But then the other part of my brain puts up its hand and says that it is definately not beyond JKRs abilities to create some scenario where Good wins but Harry still crokes it.

So, as was mentioned in a separate thread in this guild, where one fan holds out hope that Sirius will come back from the dead, I firmly hold onto the hope that Harry somehow survives past the last chapter of book 7. But we have seen bigger surprises and JKR constantly proves that she isn't hung up on the rules of story writing, so anything is possible!

Ah, personally I say hell with the interviews-- I don't keep up with them simply because of the fact that I would rather guess on my own. Yes, I do think Harry COULD be one of the Horcruxes. Hmm.... Interesting... Ron's death, eh?

I mean, in the end of part 6 Harry was especially concerned with Ginny's safety and told her to stay away from him. He said for her to not get in the way, stay away from harm and that Voldemort has already tried to harm her once so why not again?

I think *maybe* she could possibly even save Harry's life from something-- intervening or taking an Unforgivable Curse for him by throwing herself in the way? confused

Well I always thought of Harry being the final Horcrux, so Him and Voldemort would die.

If any other two died I would belive it would Be either Ron and Hermione who like sacrifice themselves to save Harry

Or Voldemort may still die but Ginny would die for Harry.

When you read the books, you pretty much just know that Voldemort has to die. I mean you wouldn't think that JK would just have The Dark side take over and thats the end.

Of course I also would hope that Snape would be finished with two as well as Voldemort, which it could be possible that Snape is Voldemort's final horcrux, which would also understand one of the reasons why he was Voldemort's faveorite.

As for someone comming back, I was thinking of Dumbledore comming back. He may not come back as a human but as spirit to give Harry his power.

It may also be Sirius who comes back, because we never really knew that he did in fact die. I think in the final book we will also learn more about the whole purpose of the veil. There has to be some reason for it

I don't think it'll be a hanger just because she promised an epilogue in the last few chapters. I think it'll be Harry because she once stated that by killing off the main character no one'll continue the series after she dies. Which I think is a little mean, I mean...how many small children read these books? How many'll be crushed if that's what she does :[

I hope Lucius dies, for sure. If a Weasley has to die, it might be Bill...I think it'll be Bill just because of the last thing that happened to him in the last book, he could possibly be out for revenge?? Maybe.
