I downloaded the KNOPPIX 5.0 .iso onto my laptop a little while ago (earlier today), copied it to my external hard drive and moved it to my desktop to burn the actual live CD (CD burner in laptop is busted).

Now to the problem. When I try to boot KNOPPIX, I keep getting this error right after KNOPPIX probes USB/Firewire devices and starts DMA for my hard drive and CD drive:

insmod: error inserting '/cdrom/KNOPPIX/mdules/cloop.ko': -1 Out of memory

Any ideas? Out of memory sounds like a RAM thing to me, but i've got plenty of that and after letting memtest86 run for 11 hours straight and return 26 passes I think my RAM is fine and therefore not the culprit.

Should I try disabling things when selecting which kernel to use? Like:

knoppix acpi=no ide=nodma

I tried ide=nodma but that didn't seem to change anything.

EDIT: I don't know if it matters or not, or if I needed to mention this at all(should be assumed) but the system hangs after said error message appears.
