What do y'all think about multiple paths? That is, the idea that there are multiple paths to God, regardless or religion.

I'm not entierely sure what I believe, but I'm definetly inclinced to to believe in it. It just doesn't seem right that a good person who was never exposed to Christianity shoudl go to hell.

But I understand why it doesn't work since a relationship with God leades us to heaven.

What do you think? Discuss (politely, please.)

Jesus tells us that no one comes to the Father except through the Son. It doesn't matter if you're a "good person" or not (because really, you aren't a good person on your own anyway; the only way you can be a good person is because of God).

But that's also why we're called to go and spread the Gospel. The Great Commission sends us off all over the world to remote countries, to our own backyard, to share Jesus so that others won't be condemned.

"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" ~John 14:6

in the Bible Jesus says: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no on can come to the Father execpt through me." That should answer your question.

Yeah, I do understand that. I'm still way up in they air on my beliefs on multiple paths. I kinda think I just like the idea that good people will go to heaven regardless of their religion. But I also understand why that doesn't really work. I was just curoius to other thoughts on the subject.

It's one of those questions I intend to ask God when I die, you know?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have plenty of friends who are generally "good people" but who aren't Christians. I try my hardest to love on them and spread Jesus whenever I can, but that's really the best I can do.

Certainly not! 3nodding In fact, the Bible tells us that to be Christian is to be persecuted. Talk about perks. xd

Well I believe that at least Jews and Muslims are on the right track.

And I mean, is Ghandi going to hell then?

He was Hindu.

God works in mysterious ways, and He gets the final say.

Jesus once said: "I am the the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No on goes to the Father except through me."

Muslims and Jews don't even believe Jesus was the Messiah. For Muslims, Mohamid (Sorry for the incorrect spelling) is the important guy and they believe that killing "infadels" (again sorry for the incorrect spelling) will "bring" them to heaven. Hindus believe u have to earn your way to heaven, but Christians believe that we are saved by God's grace, not by works.

And if all religions do lead to God then why did Jesus have to die for our sins? I tell u why, because that's the only way we'd ever get "reconnected" to God (sin seperated us from God and Jesus's death and rising from the dead "reconnected" us to God). Also, if all religions lead to God then what's the point of suffering as Christians when we can join some cult or something?

Also some religions contradict each other (Satinism & Christianity contradict each other), so it is impossible for all religions to be correct (The Bible says that Jesus is the only way).

Yes, Ghandi will go to the place of eternal suffering, along w/ all others who have not and will not accept and follow and obey Jesus and God's Word.

Actually I'm pretty sure that Muslims don't believe that killing all the Infadels will bring them heaven. Their religion is a lot like ours minus Jesus being the savior and plus the prophet Mohammad. That's basically a stereotype that's caused by all the extreamists now.

Aaaaand actually Satanism is now worship of the devil. It's more of a parody on Christianity and other religion. Most members are atheists and it's more "self worship". Like, the may get a really attractive woman in linerage to come in and all the men will just watch her. It's more like "Do as you wish to please yourself".

I agree with Captail theoretical as well. It's one of those things I intend to ask God when I die "Who goes to heaven, how do you decide? What about Ghandi and other good people like him?"

Who knows?

I have a muslim friend and she's the nicest, most polite person you have ever met in your entire life.

She never gets angry at anyone. gonk

Islam states that Jesus was a prophet, and another prophet has come after him.

you mean "not worship of the devil"?

Well it's not, it's just a philosophy stemming from atheism.

Basically it says that the universe has no point, so we should all just pleasure ourselves and show no mercy for others. (I'm paraphrasing here.)

Well, I knew someone who almost drowned once and she said that she suddenly knew the answer to life, the universe, and everything. She can't remember, but I have a strong suspicion it was 42.

Of course it could have just been the hypoxia rofl

If Jesus said that there is only one way then there is only one way, why discuss any further if we believe in Jesus and if we are Christians (I know I am and I know that I believe in Jesus) then that should be enough.

Well, Jesus was almost never literal, so this could be a metaphorical passage.

Jesus is an extension of God, sent from God, a part of God. It is all so interwebbed that perhaps he could have meant that is only through God, the one true God, et cetera that you can reach heaven.

But we can never know exactly what he meant, so that's why we discuss things. biggrin

He said that no one goes to the Father exepct through Him (Jesus), and no one, means no one, anyways how can something so simple as that be viewed as metaphorical?

He also said not to build your house on sand.

It's so simple, he must have actually been talking about houses and sand right?
