Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

does anyone know why is the n in higurashi no naku koro ni red?
Well...I just finished episode 13, and like most arcs, it left me with a ton of questions. I think that in the last 3 arcs, some of the answers to those questions will be revealed. In the meantime, I shall be gathering clues as to who did what, why they did it, and what is different in each arc.

Yeah, I didn't get the beginning in the beginning, in the middle, or in the end... Why did it show rika killing herself?

Keiichi, Mion, Shion vs. Mion(Demon)?

Wow...everyone dies except for Rena...
One thing noticeable (more noticeable in the third and fourth episode of this arc) is how Rena isn't stupid. She figured out what Mion was up to, she figured out what the police were up to, she even solved the mystery of how satoko and rika died.

Anyways, the first episode(or was it the second? yeah i think it was the second) was a lot of fun and games, going to a festival (i loved how they used the same screen shots as from the first arc's carnival) Plus the whole Mion and Shion pulling off switcharoos. Lots of the times you can't tell who's who because it probably isn't hard to change hair styles.
*In the opening, it's not two mion's, it's a mion and a shion!*

It was Mion, in the hospital, with the hammer and nail
That was really confusing...not to mention that it looked like keiichi died 3 times in that episode

Keiichi made some dumb moves... going with Mion alone into the dark creepy place knowing that she killed people. And, before they entered, 'Mion' said "No wonder Mion liked you."

Also, Keiichi went outside to see Mion at night ...in the dark... were you couldn't see if the person had a knife who was about to kill you

Why (Mion(Shion?)Demon) comes back to life?

i don't think it's confusing. i actually heard about this wonderful anime in this guild, and then watched almost all the episodes. i believe i figured it out.
the people that kill themselves come back to life. and the people that dissappear become demons.
really, i also think that oyashi-sama has further cursed them by making them go thru with this over and over. i don't think it's an alternate universe. it's good because since keiichi forgets everything every time he dies, you learn more and more every time someone explains something to him.

really, i don't know why rena killed herself in the beginning of that episode. i think it was a flashback of how she became to get with Keiichi and the others. really, if you think deeply into it (and i always do in animes) then you're head would explode. either that, or hurt a lot. XD what if this was happening in the past before the first episode came out? what if this will keep happening forever? We can ask "what if what if" all we want, and all we'll get is the sci-fi channel.

i think my favorite episode is the one where keiichi dies for the first time. XD with satoshi's bat and all. had me looking behind me the entire time.

i think rika (am i right? the cute little one with brown hair?yeah, i'm right) tried to kill him and said sorry so many times is because she truly wanted to help him. if he kills himself, then he'll just come back. if he dissappears, then he'll become a demon, or never return. "transfer". -laugh- i don't know what would happen if someone else killed him. hm...i'll have to see more episodes some time..when there's someone to watch them with. -nods-

wow i havent posted in a long time, but i think thanks to the new chapter, the eye opening chapter, a whole bunch of things makes sense...

What if everything was all part of the same story, except that there are some stuff (mainly people dying) that wouldnt make this idea work

it all begins in 1978 with that whole incident with akasaka who goes to hinamizawa and saves that kid which stops the whole dam project. Here rika predicts everything that will happen in the next 5 years.
1979-manager of the dam dismembered
1980-satoko's parents get pushed of a cliff
1981-rika's parents die
1982-satoko's mean aunt's head is bashed
1983-rika will die
This is all episode 14 and half of episode 15

Next would be the part of the arc: the eye opening chapter with satoshi which takes place somewhere around 1982. Here we learn all about how shion fell in love with satoshi and how satoshi goes and kills his aunt who is the fourth victim of Oyashirosama's curse. We also learn how the demon was born in both Mion and Shion and it shares a symbiotic relationship between them because they are twins.
This is from episodes 16 to half of episode 18

This is were the second arc and the fifth arc overlap. Here Shion meets Keiichi in 1983. In the second arc, Rena tells Keiichi about her being under Oyashirosama's curse. In the fifth arc, Rena tells Shion about it. In episode 8 as well as episode 18, both Tomitake, Takano, Keiichi and Shion go into the festival shrine.
Episodes 5-8 and half of episode 18-19+

Here is one of the spots my theory would not make sense, seeing as this would be the same time where Keiichi is supposedly supposed to beat up satoko's uncle. So the 3rd arc is happening in the same time frame as the entire 2nd arc and part of the 5th arc. I think the 1st arc would also be inside the same time frame here. Don't forget that the photos of the watanagashi festival are the same in the first and second arc. So this creates a 3-way fork. Since we don't know how the 5th arc ends, we can't talk to much about that, but if we were talking about the 3rd arc then the timeline continues.

If the third arc would take place in 1983, a bit after Keiichi finds out Shion exists, but before the watanagashi festival. Here we learn more about satoko. The story goes on until the watanagashi festival where keiichi decides to go and kill satoko's uncle. This was not predicted by rika to akasaka earlier. The stories continue more, and Rika ends up dying just like she predicted. ---Rika's prediction of her death fits in arcs 2,3, and 5, seeing as she dies in 1983--- Keiichi gets pushed off the cliff, but does not die. Instead he curses the entire village of Hinamizawa and they all die.
This is from episodes 9-13

Finally during the second half of episode 15, sometime after 1983, we see akasaka talking to the police guy. ---Though it says in episode 13 that he went missing, i dont think he died which makes this part of my theory still possible. He could have disappeared from Hinamizawa but later found--- Here Akasaka tells the police guy about rika's predictions how we know this takes place after episode 13 because of the destruction of hinamizawa with the volcanic and toxic gases.
