/english voice actors vs. japanese voice actors//3 Which do you prefer? The Japanese voice actors? Or the English ones? Personally, I favor the English Voice Actors. The only two Japanese voices I prefer are Mytho's and Uzura's. Mytho's English voice is too deep, and Uzura's is fine--I just think she sounds cuter in the Japanese version. The English voices I like most are Fakir's, Mr. Cat's, and Pique's. The way Mr. Cat speaks amuses me. >w< What say you?

Difficult to say...
I didn't like the English voices during the first DVD... The voice actors didn't seem to be their characters until the second DVD (Does that even make sense? If it does - good, if it doesn't - I'll try to explain it better... later.)
I love the Japanese voices... and I really like the... what are those words at the ends of names called? Honorifics? sweatdrop Yeah, even if I'm not sure on the name of them, I still enjoy hearing -sensei or -sempai instead of Mr/Teacher or *gags* Senior. Yeah, I really don't like the 'senior' thing.
So... when it comes to watching random episodes on my lonesome, I'll have it in English. If I want to watch a full-out marathon of it, I'll watch it in Japanese. But I'll probably watch the English extras on the DVDs...
sweatdrop Yeah, I think I'll just go back to doing what I do best... pollwhoring...

I find that I prefer English...that easily. I don't know Japanese and when i watch ANY anime in japanese i will be sitting there and telling myself.."I am not listening to the voices...i am too busy reading the subtitles trying to figure out what the hell is going on." So..if i wanted to watch it and read the subtitles...I would have to pause it. x.X I know english...so...i prefer it. hehehehe

Queen-Galux: I like honorifics [er whatever], too. You're right--they do sound better x__x;.
I'll have to look at the English episodes on the first DVD and compare them to a later episode, because I haven't watched the first few episodes in such a long time, and don't remember the difference ^^;.
FakiaGirl: Totally agree with you. I really dislike subbing, because when you're reading it, you can't pay too much attention to what else is going on.

Personally, I read very quickly, so subtitles don't bother me ^^;. And I love the sound of the Japanese language, so I have no problems with watching something subbed.
I have yet to see PT in english though ;_____:.

Really? No exceptions? What bothers you so much about the dubs?

It really hard to say I mean the English voice actors actually fit the characters for once. But I do think some voices are better in Japanese like Rues and Mutes.

I think this was one of the only anime that the dub was very into character. I've watched all the later episodes in Japanese and I'm comparing it to the English one and the only thing I have to get used to is the whole Duck thing... sweatdrop I sorta wish that they would have just kept Ahiru even though it just translate to Duck...Also I like the honorifics better as well.
Personally I like giving each dub a chance because there are some, like PT, that will work.

Glad you enjoyed the dub. biggrin
I always like Honorifics and original names better...however, I appreciate that they changed it because it's strange to hear Japanese honorifics in English, and Duck makes more sense as...Duck.

I prefer Ahiru, Fakir and Mytho's voices in japanese. ADV overuses Lucy in my opinion and Ahiru dosen't sound as annoying in japanese than English. Mytho's voice is softer in japanese, which suits his character perfectly. But Fakir, he sounds sexy in any shape, voice or form. 4laugh *melts*

Well I thought she did a good job as Ahiru. She gave Ahiru a younger sounding voice which I think helped her character a little.

I'm almost always a japanese dub kinda guy but I first watched Princess Tutu on Anime Network on demand...which only has english crying but I was pleasently suprised when I watched Princess Tutu. I actually think they did a wonderful job with the english voice acting. I'm very picky about english dub but I like most of the voices. The only voice I really find myself complaining about is Mytho.
