The thing that a lot of people overlook is the fact that magic is not something that you practice to get, it’s something that is there all along and you must simply discover it. Like any art, you must practice and build on your strengths in magic. Magic is a lot like chess or sports: there are a few main concepts to it, but with those main concepts you can achieve hundreds of different things.

There are many things in your life that correspond in order to create magic. The way you think, the way you look at objects and situations all affect how in-tune you are magically. You must look at the world with imagination; what the logical answer to a situation is may not always be correct. Be open-minded and remember that not everything always works the same. Like any other form of art, magic can never be exactly repeated down the same point – it can merely be copied with little or nil variation.

Lastly, you should be aware that not every person can do a spell or potion or hex the same way. Symbols are to mages what atoms are to scientists – they are the foundation of reasoning and are to be taken into account. There are many, many different types of symbols, and some are the same but with different reasoning. A good example for this is the English language. You cannot go up to someone and say that ‘C’ sounds as ‘ts’; in the English language that is not correct. (It would be sounded as ‘ck’ or ‘sss’ depending on the context). However, in Souvlak it is always sounded as ‘ts’. This shows that not all symbols are used the same for each person or magic practice.

To begin to show you that magic is all around you, please go to Exercise One thread. The instructions are there for you, as is the next step to this class.

Speaking of being copied with little or nil variation, I think maybe you should cite your sources for all of these articles, given that you're practically plagiarising Patrick Dunn. You aren't the only one who's read Postmodern Magic, after all. X3
