If you have any questions about the game, PM me.
Gameplay: Right, well... This game used to be a platforming action game. No more. They have fully changed the game into what is basically an intense cart racer. It seems like much more though. Usually when they completely change the genre of a game, it ends up sucking. Naughty Dog, however, doesn't like to follow the crowd. Hard-core fans might not like the fact that they did this, but... Nonetheless, it is a very fun game. They essentially took the newest/funnest part of Jak 3 and turned it into an entire game. You find yourself on a track the entire time you will be playing. Now, the racing features the ability to (what the game calls sliding) drift. It may seem like a hard thing to do, like most games make it, but like its predecesors Jak X makes it incredibly easy and fun. When sliding, you gain Blue Eco, which I'll talk about now. Blue Eco, now gives you the ability to boost, a turbo. Blue Eco can be picked up as a power-up on the ground, and from sliding. Green Eco is your car's health, and can also be picked up on the ground. Red Eco is your defense weapons, usually dropped from behind you, these can also be picked up as power-ups. Yellow Eco is your offense weapons, these are also picked up as a power-up. Then they add Dark Eco. When you destroy other racers you gain Dark Eco, when you get enough Dark Eco, your vehicle harnesses it and makes both your Yellow Eco and Red Eco weapons more powerful. You can also get new vehicles which have their own capacity to be upgraded in different areas. Such as turbo capacity, armor, etc. You can also unlock new parts to make your vehicles look different. Like the previous games, you can get Precursor Orbs from winning races and spend them on special unlockables. 9/10!
Music: Pretty intense, it keeps you into the mood of the sport, combat racing... 8/10!
Graphics/Visuals: Very good for a racing game of its kind. The cutscenes still look great too. 9.5/10!
Other Attributes: Combat racing at its core, I love it. 10/10!
Story: You, Jak and your friends, Daxter, Ashelin, Torn, and more are invited to Kras city to be read the will of a man named Krew. A man that you killed in the first game because he was going to blow some stuff up. Anyway he has a special bottle of wine that he wanted to be drank at the reading, so without hesitation, they drink. Then Krew reveals to them in a hologram that he put poison in the wine and that they are going to race for him in the Kras city racing championship. If they win, his assosiates will give them the antidote, it is a slow actiong poison so they have a while to do so. After tests are done on the bottle, you find out that it's true and you are going to be racing. The thing that I find disturbing though, is that on the track your friends do not hesitate at all to blow the crap out of you, since you respawn, it's no problem, but it's not nice. Also, you never see Jak use any of his Dark or Light powers. 8/10!
Compared To Other Installments: They did a great job in making a racing game, but if I were stuck on an island with a choice of any of the Jak games to take with me, it wouldn't be Jak X. 7/10!
Summary: It is a fun racing game and keeps true to the cart racing style, but it just doesn't seem to keep up to the previous games.
Overall Score: 8 out of 10!
I hope you all enjoyed my review, much thanks, Gore Rules...
