It's all politics. If the government wanted to give us fuel, they could. They have the National Oil Reserve which has so much gas that the prices would go down.
Don't forget. It's all business. Some gas giants like Exxon/Mobil (The biggest) and Chevron (2nd) are making money off of this. They control the gas prices, along with the government. So, basically, we're giving them more money than we should. Those companies are making money off of us.
Someone is getting rich off of this whole gas problem. If only our elected officials would actually pay attention, but like American officials, they only want money. This leads to greed, a nasty trait that some bear.
"Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Well according to some thigns Ive heard, and I have no clue about anything on this. Gas uis so expensive, because since our oil things were shut down, we have to recieve our oil from foreighn places, so they make us pay for everything it takes to get the gas here. Not to mention the need is getting and greater, which means if we dont find a better means of fuel or transportation, were gonna be a little fix of money.

Well think it is also because as the years go by people's pay are raised that is why these things go up so much. Like in the 6os or 70s I think the gas was only like what 15 cents or less to fill up the tank. Now it is 2 to almost 3 dollars. Think about food too. That used to be only a couple cents to buy popular food and you could spend a couple of dollars buying alot of food. Now food ranges from 4 to maybe 6 or 8 dollars(not sure). I'm not argeeing with the government hell I think the gas is over priced but still it is going up because of the pay. Though one thing people have noticed is that the gas continues to grow in very short periods which is not right they are not following the rules. They are making their own rules.

the thing is not everyone gets their pays raised at their job and it might be they just cant afford it. I understand that someone is making money, but either way I think our government is a dumbass.

In a technical standpoint, WE are the dumbasses. Why? Because we are electing them into office.

i read that all the oil in america comes through 5 different systems 9refineries, distributors etc).
that means that there is almost no way they could avoid fixing prices and setting limits on capacity to drive up those prices.
it hurts people like everybody where i live; we all have to drive long distances to work or shop, and there will never be public transportation out here in the wilderness.

yea we dont have public transportation here and most people work farther in town so they ahev to drive that distance every day. And with gas prices keep going up it is getting even worse. I saw it hit $3 where I am at the other day.

yes i think gas prices are much too high and i dont think they're going down any time soon. if anything they're just going to keep rising. seeing as how the demand for oil will always be high OPEC will have the ability to keep raising the price of crude oil. i just find it ridiculous how high gas prices are and compared to other places i should probably not be complaining. its still only $1.10/L here where i live and even paying that hurts. cost $40 to fill up my corolla and the damn thing only runs on a 1.6L Engine. argh. apparently in places like BC its already $3-4/L. eek

yea people around here would pray for gas prices to be $1.10. here it is about 2.70-80 something most of the time.
personally i dont see why they need to be that high besides the fact that some person is making loads of money off everyone elses struggles.

Jay Leno the other night said "hey guess what? gas prices are suddenly going down!"
and the crowd cheered of course.
then he said "of course, the day after elections...right back up there, over 3 bucks!"
he's SO right!

i had read a article semi-ercently and Bush thinks that the gas rising is a good idea because then it will get more people to buy more "energy savable" cars and vehicles, but honestly that is full of s**t. There are so many people who cant afford to do stuff like taht to just go out and get a new car so that would jsut shoot economony down farther into poverty. In the article it also had a chart of where some places have gas prices as low as .78c, but I think that is wher it would be where they can pump gasoline right out of the ground.

Bush is such a liar.
3 years ago he gave people tax credits to buy big gas-guzzling american SUVs.
a tax credit is not just a deduction, it comes right straight off of your net taxes, after deductions.
now he expects we will forget that, hm?
