you know what I was thinkin a while ago? DT storyline aside, the story of Susan Delgado from W&G could fairly stand on it's own as a movie. They would probably have to a add an extra action scene or two, and they would obviously need to leave out Roland's vision of the dark tower in the wizard's glass, but that's about it.

It's not necessarily my favorite part of DT, but as far as movies go, I think it would serve well.

i think the dark tower stories are better to be kept to the people who sacrifice the time and effort to read them. movies would just taint the whole thing for me. susans story might be good on screen but theyre would always be something missing. and to please the public at large-
would you really want to see tabledances at the seedy bar in mejis???
thats all the public is really interested in! theres no room for that stuff in the stories, everyone is too worried about living another day to pay attention to parading tits and a**! its way too good a story to get ruined by hollywood!

im not quite sure if you are reffering to actual life, or life in the story, but i disagree on both accounts.

Roland was clearly not too worried about dying to have sex, cuz in WaG, he did it like, every friggin day <_<

Please post about things concerning the Dark Tower in the Dark Tower sticky.

(I think it would probably be possible to make a really great movie from the story in WandG, but it could really easily be messed up.)

I was only reffering(with a lot of bullshit mess around)that a WAG movie would be empty.....and to please the common consumer it would have to be messed with.....would you not be disappointed?

I disagree that it would be messed with to the point of unwatchable . . . ness. I think it could easily be a movie without losing much, because as much as I like W&G, I have to say, most of the pages of printed with a whole lot of nothing.

King could right a good screenplay, if he would do it.

i just have to make one more comment to epicbb:

i think your comment that any movie made from DT would just be completely oriented with sex is ectremely short-sighted. there's plenty of movie series from books that have pretty much no sex, most notably and recenlty, The Lord of the Rings.

besides, DT is already over-sexed, anyway.

i agree with blaze01, WandG is probably the only book in the Dark Tower series which could stand on its own as a movie.

and it's probably one of the only King books i've read which doesn't have something so outright retarded happening that a movie would just mess it up completely (see: It, and Dreamcatcher).

obviously, you'd have to cut out most (if not all) the references to the dark tower, and the beginning and end, but it could potentially work very well as a movie.

a kind of cowboy/fantasy movie.

plus... Cuthbert! surprised

THANKYOU!

someone FINALLY agrees with me! crying *tears of joy*

about that thing with the tower references. its true thar most would have to be cut out, but it might be cool to leave some in, to perhaps entice people to watch a DT series that coule be released after w&g idea

it might make some people kind of curious if the movie opened on the ka-tet on highway 50, they all sit down and Roland starts telling the tale, and the movie could close with dawn coming in Topeaka.

all of this being hypothetical, of course. i have no real hope of ever having the joy of watching Roland and his tet in action crying crying crying crying crying

i've always thought that king was an extremely "visual" writer, and i've never understood why the movies that have been made from his books have usually been so BAD..

i think you're right though.. you could open the movie with them just entering the thinny, have some nice cross-references to the stand, then the palaver. then, you can keep ALL the references to the tower in, and end the movie with them continuing the journey, with a shot of them walking towards the "emerald palace" (which is a tower like structure) in the distance.

i think the dark tower series is probably the most movie-friendly written thing king has written since the stand (which also worked nicely as a tv mini-series)

hahaha all this talk makes me want to become a director or something, just so i could make sure it was done "right" xd

then don't let hollywood make it! no pissant director (no offense to all of you guys) get someone new! someone who could work with king and make the movies really good. btw i really like WaG but without the dark tower it would'nt be good. just....no.

now that I think about it, if they did strictly the flashback segment of wizard and galss as a movie, and then went back and made a gunslinger movie, it would actually be making the series go in order. it would sorta be cool to see Roland as a young man, and then see what he's like as we catch up with him however-many years later in the gunslinger, instead of the other way around.

I think there's a chance that WaG could be a stand alone movie, but it would be a weak one. I think one of the reasons his backstory of Mejis exists at all is to contrast an eariler, more loving and trusting Roland against the hardass b*****d he is throughout most of the DT, and without getting to know the older Roland over the first three books, I think a lot of the effect of the WaG story is lost.

I wouldn't see it anyways: I hated that book so much xd But that's my two cents.
