Bright sunlight had made the day heated, and that didn't a happy Melayna make. The young water Wyrm was nowhere near the heated sandpits, not wanting to laze about without reason. The river ran fast, and it was here where the youngster could be seen.

Mela swam slowly upstream, pitting her own talents against the current of the river. Oh, sure, she could slow the current a wee bit. If she were older and stronger, she might be even able to turn it back on itself. The golden eyes of the female gleamed as she shot forward, small limbs fluttering and grabbing to the bottom of the streambed and pulling whenever she reached someplace harder.

Slowing, she flowed back down where she had started, sighing and expelling bubbles with a giggle.

Lior lay next to a sunlit river, staring at the water as he looked at the few fish swimming. Here, the water was flowing much slower than upstream, with a gentle current slowly carrying things along its course. Resting his head on his hooves, the light wyrm let out a peaceful sigh.
His green eyes were half closed, but then he saw something much bigger than the leaves and other objects that floated in the water out of the corner of his eye. It was a young water dragon. He lifted his head to stare at the youngling.
He let out a small cough. "Ah... Greetings..."

Melayna rolled ashore when a voice talked to her. She looked his way, spotting a large wyrm the likes of which she'd never seen. "Hi! I'm Melayna, who're you?" Mela was always happy to meet someone else, and this one was a pretty boy, too. She giggled, tail resting in the river.

"Pleasure to meet you, m'lady." He dipped his head in a light bow. "I'm Lior." The light dragon tucked his wings to lay flat to his body, for they had been stretched out before. "Are you here all by yourself, little lady?" Lior asked, looking about as if to spot any other wyrms about.

"Yes, I'm here by m'self, Lior, sir. My daddy is staying with my momma, and Aunt Ata is off with her bonded." Mela smiled, stretching her little limbs. Oh, she didn't mention that her family was adopted, but that didn't matter.

"Ah, I see." Lior stood up slowly, and entered the water, cooling down in the nice liquid. "This feels nice on a warm day like this..." His fur was wet now, but he didnt mind, nothing a few hours in the sun couldn't cure, and he wouldn't mind those few hours. He ducked his head under the surface of the water, looking for a tasty fish. Spotting one, he darted towards it. Catching the fish in his mouth, he sped upwards and broke trough the surface of the water, drops of liquid flying everywhere. Lior went ashore, shaking to get some of the water off then laid down and started eating the fish. He didn't offer getting a fish for Melayna since she was a water dragon and would have no problem catching one.

"What about you?" Melayna asked, not really caring as the large golden beast got himself something to eat. She didn't want to fish right now. It didn't matter. She scooched closer to the water, watching the river flow by lazily.

Practice Aunt Ata's voice echoed in her mind, and she rolled her eyes. She couldn't do it, and Aunt knew. She looked at the water again, staring at the reflection of her face over the running liquid.

After finishing his fish, the lifted his head and looked to Melayna. "I'm all alone as well... But, I have no family." Lior replied to the water dragon's question. Going back into the water to catch another fish, the adult laid once again back on the shore, staring at his fish. He closed his eyes, waited a few moments before opening them again. Darn... It didn't work... He had tried to cook the fish with sunlight, but all it did was make it warm, which was alright, but he wanted to see if he could make the fish catch fire with his powers. Maybe I just need to use it more often, perhaps it's like trying to get stronger, just a little differently since this isn't physical...

"My family's important to me. I have an older brother too. He's still in his egg, though. Maybe water wyrms just hatch faster than wind wyrms." Melayna mused aloud, unaware that the older wyrms was having trouble with his power too.

The water in front of her began to gain small ripples as she stared, a small thread of the clear water snaking up from its larger body. I may've finally got it, she thought happily. The instant her focus wavered, the water dropped back as ice, slightly confusing her. "It never did that before..."

"...What... Is a family like...?" Lior whispered, as if not knowing was a crime. The light dragon looked over as he saw some ripples in the water before the youngling. "Hey, thats cool. I wish I could do something like that. I guess my power is alright, I can change the warmth of the sun for a small area and for a small time." He gave the water dragon a smile.

"Family is like a group of wyrms with or without humanoids too. You always know you've got someone to watch oyt for you. Some think families have to be related, but I'm not to my mom, dad, or brother." Mela smiled back at Lior. "Are you bonded?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 07, 2006 2:59 pm

"Ah, I see... Is it fun to have a family...?" The adult wondered. "No, I am not bonded, yet. I'm not sure if I should or not, but so far I have not found the right human yet, I haven't looked much, but still...." Lior let out a small yawn.

"It is sometimes. Sometimes, they can be a pain. Like dad tells me to watch over Thor." She shook her head. The egg liked to talk, but he didn't ever play! "Y'know... it doens't have to be human. My aunt Ata is bonded to a mermaid and my mom to a lycan. I'm not bonded because I haven't been around many unbondeds."

Mela turned back to the water, slipping in for a few minutes. She swam against the current gently, keeping her head above water to talk to Lior.

"Hmmm... Does the good times balance out the bad times...? And what, exactly, does a family do..?" The male stretched every limb he had then sighed in satisfaction. "Well, I haven't met the right humaniod then."

"Yes, they do. A family protects you from harm, tries to make you happy, keeps you dreaming after you have nightmares. Family is wonderful." She dove beneath the water, trying to grab that little bit of focus she was capable of. Looking behind her, she glared at the water, focusing until her little brain felt like it might pop. She pushed her back legs to propel her forward, but came surprised when the push landed against something... solid. She kept her feet against it, peeking her head out. She'd made a small wall of ice?
