What does GX on YuGiOh GX stand for? I thought Generation X... or Go Xtreme or something...

Originally the title was supposed to be GENEX, as shown in early GX promotional work, but was changed to GX at the last minute before publication.

i've listened to both theme songs, and you CAN hear "Generation X" or something akin to it in the English. the japanese was in, well, japanese, so i don't know whether it's in that one too

It stands for (Generatin X) As in roman numerals X=10
meaning the tenth Generation of Duel monsters^^

Since 4Kids constantly screws up anime with their god awful dubbing, GX could stand for Great Xylophone for all we know. The only way to truly know is to ask the creator himself.
Also, wikipedia isn't a reliable source. Just about anyone with access to the Internet can edit it and make it say anything they want. I once looked up Yugi's deck on there and it had a list of about 100 cards that he ever used in the series, even ones he used by taking control from other duelists. Relinquished, Revival Jam, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and others were in that list and it was labeled as Yugi's deck.
