Lumines (2005)
Company: UBISOFT
Players: 1 to 2 players
Rated: E for Everyone

If you are into puzzle tetris-like games look no further, Lumines is what youve been looking for. Featuring great gameplay, fantastic music in sync with your actions and the simplicity to pick up and play escalating to almost impossible to play levels, this game is a must to every PSP-owner.

The Game

Its pretty straightforward, you must group same colored 2x2 squares by rotating falling 2x2 bicolored squares. While youre playing, a vertical line called the timeline will constantly cross the screen horizontally, removing all the same colored squares youve grouped as it passes, that way, the more same-colored squares you make before the timeline crosses, the more points you earn by getting combos. There are also special single-squares that will make all the adjacent same colored single-squares disappear when you make a 2x2 square that contains this special square.Thats basically it, pretty simple huh?.

There are several single player modes: Challenge (no time limit), Time Attack (make as many squares as possible within a time limit), Single-skins (same as challenge but the background doesnt change) and Vs CPU modes (you play vs several bizarre characters in the same way as multiplayer). In the multiplayer mode the screen is divided into two and the more squares you make the larger your field becomes (and smaller your enemys) so the one who has no space to put the falling squares losses. As you clear levels and beat your high scores new skins and characters will be added to your library so you can use them on the single-skin and multiplayer modes.

Something you cant stop noticing when you are playing Lumines is the music and backgrounds. The music is different for each stage and it goes in sync whit your actions becoming faster when you make combos and slower when you are doing bad. The backgrounds also respond to your game play shining in response to your actions. This two particular features make the game a really interactive and different experience.

The Result

This game is the best puzzle since Tetris, and equally as good, if not more so(dont punish me ohh Tetris Gods!), and will make you spend hours playing it, the only down side is that it will become boring to non-puzzle people. One of the best relesed yet on PSP and in time I think it will become a classic.

For those soccer fans out there, the announcement of a FIFA release this early was pure joy after most of us skipped the launch soccer game World Tour Soccer. FIFA promised to come with all the features from its consoles counterparts and ready to exploit the PSP's power.

Impressions & Gameplay
I gotta say that although I like the FIFA series, I'm loyal to the Winning Eleven series which I enjoy the most, so I thought of buying FIFA just to keep me soccer busy while Konami releases Winnin Eleven PSP.

Once you start playing FIFA PSP, It's hard not to notice the looong loading times required to load every single menu, and the fact that every menu item shows like a constant response delay between hitting the button and going to the next menu. The menus look neat, in a familiar way for those used to FIFA, the profile creation lets you choose your favorite team as well as your fav rival for the team chosen, which lets you have your profile rooting for your favorite team all the time.

After surfing around the menu, I decided to go and play a quick match to get a grip on the controls and the overall gameplay. Great matchup, Barcelona vs Real Madrid, the game loading is long but not long enuff to make you go mad, so far , it's cool. It's when you finally see the intro sequence that you start noticing that something's a little odd; it's really pretty straighforward to notice that the framerate the game is played at is really slow.

Once the game starts, things starts going more smoothly, with players showing great movement, really great ball physics and a familiar FIFA gameplay that should get you right down to business. Graphics are beautiful with just a little less detail than its console version. The stadiums look incredible for a handheld and the commentary work is fairly decent with the same english dudes doing the talking. After so many good impressions, however, things can get really annoying when a ball is heading out of bounds; that's when the game freezes a little bit, like a small pause that you can notice every time the ball is about to go out of bounds. It's not that annoying when you get the ball out around midfield, but it's really disappointing to have this small pause in a close to the goal shot; you're in the middle of a dramatic play, only to have the game freezing with the ball flying just right by the goalie.

The gameplay, although flawed by inconsistent framerate and annoying pauses when the ball is going out of bounds, still manages to be really fun and very similar to that found in the console versions.

Controls
Everything in FIFA is well-adapted to the PSP control scheme, except for the recently introduced "First Touch" System, which lets you tell the direction a player will take just after receiving the ball. In the console version, this can be achieved by tilting the right analog stick to the desired direction, but in the PSP version you have to release the analog stick (which you use to control player movement) and then use the d-pad to choose a "First Touch" direction, which makes this task a really hard one for people with just 1 left thumb.

I hope to get more used to this way to use the "First Touch" and juke moves with the D-pad as I keep playing, but so far, it's a shame not to be able to perform this moves easily as they can help you outperform your opponents.

Overall
I have to say I had mixed reactions about this game. For one part, the gameplay and graphics are really good from what we expect from a FIFA game, but unfortunately the game feels like you're running it in a very slow computer rather than a PSP; if I hadn't played WipeOut I could say it was acceptable to have this kind of response but after seeing how well WipeOut handles the menus and gameplay without slowing down, I gotta say that EA Sports delivered a faulty product to the gamers (as they usually do).

If you don't have a problem facing the fact that you're playing a game that was not polished by EA and if you learn to ignore its little annoyances like the inconsistent framerate, the out-of-bounds freezing and its slooooow menus, then you can actually have a great time playing FIFA soccer.

Hot Shots Golf Open Tee
User Image
Simply the best arcade Golfing game I have played. 8.9/10

Dont let the arcade, sweet playing look fool you. This game can stand out as maybe one of the funnest grab and go games on the PSP yet. Hot Shots Golf isnt like other golf games where you choose your character, and then you work him through a career. It is a progressive game, where as you play you get better and your skills increase almost like they would in an RPG. In Hot Shots there are 10 golfers, six courses and 5 caddies. You start out with two golfers, and your caddies show-up as mere voices in the background instead of being on the links with you as in past games. It holds up to its PS2 predecessor.

There are three types of play here; You get Single Player, Mulitplayer, and Training Mode. In Multiplayer you can have up to 8 players through ad-hoc ina single tournament. Yes that is right you can throw down in your own tourney with your pals. So multiplayer will definately keep you and all your friends busy for a while. In single player you are given multiple options of what to do. You can start playing the courses in Stroke Play where you can contend or make a highscore. Then there is Challenge mode, which in its own way is the Career Mode this game has to offer. Here you get to progress your character in almost a RPG fashion, and unlock items such as different clothes and characters. I need'nt explain training because that is self-explanatory. The more you play a character the more loyalty you get towards that character which appear in the forms of hearts. Once you aquire these hearts you get special skills, and skill ups. Having the ability to unlock new items, and characters for customization purposes of your own character makes this game addicting. You just want to beat more tournaments, or opponents to get more items to further your collection. Sounds familiar to you Gaians out there huh, something along the lines of posts/polls for gold, its the same exact deal. So this game will have no problem keeping you playing.

The coarses look gorgeous for a first gen PSP game, it is remarkable how much alike they are to the console. This game was definately worth the wait from launch, and it shows. It can keep up pace for golfing fanatics out there as would Tiger Woods, it even plays longer battery life wise. So dont look down on this golfing game to be for amateurs, it has a slightly harder putting system. Which gives it its golfing edge, and can be mastered. This golfing game is very fun for those who dont even enjoy golfing games, because of its arcade feel it can be enjoyed by anyone.

arrow Presentation:
This game is very light-hearted and it shows in the animation. Very Anime-esque characters, and gameplay make it very fun for any type of person wanting to scratch their golfing itch.
arrow Graphics:
The graphics are very good. The coarses look amazing, and feel amazing to play on. Each character is very animated, which adds more on to that Anime-esque feeling of the game.
arrow Sound:
The sound is very upbeat which keeps you in a good mood even while you are loosing at times. It really does help you not get frustrated. The ambient noises are clear and not to overbearing.
arrow Controls:
This makes the game very fun. When the coarses get frustrating and tough, you have the tools to make you feel in control of what is happening. You dont feel like the game is playing you at anytime, you are in control here.
arrow Overall:
This game will keep me busy, it has since I purchased it. You wont regret buying this game if you ever did. I have had it since American launch and havent taken it out of my system the two days I have had it. I traded my MGA for it, and dont regret it at all.
Well that is it for me on this post. I have spent too much time here already, I need to go play some more Hot Shot Golf. Have Fun, and Enjoy. Reju Out.

"Its THUG all over agian"

Imagine, Tony Hawk and Bam Margera going head to head. Where they go around the world, in a competition of "who can create the most havoc?" Sounds kick a**. Now imagine going along with them. In THUG2:Remix you play the role of a newbie skater whos lucky enough to be part of a team on the "world destruction tour". You will be able to play along other pro skaters, secret skaters, and guest celebrities. As you complete the goals listed for points in this wacked out tour to create chaos. Your newbie skater, is all yours. You can customize him to make him look as crazy as you want him to be. Theres also a list of goals for stat points where you must complete these to up your skaters ability. "How well he can grind", "How long he can stay in the air" and etc. Even the board he rides is all yours, for you to freely customize, with an abundance of tags and clipart. This game packs a whole lot into the UMD. Everything from the console version here, and more! 4 new levels, and up-to 4 player wireless option.
This is exactly what it aimed to be. A honest to goodness port of THUG2 for you on the go.

Graphics: Looks alot like its console brother. But there are some compromises so it could be on the psp.

Sound: This is a premium skating soundtrack. But its not all rock, its got rap, funk, and other music genre's to please all sorts. The feel of the soundtrack just screams "Underground".

Controls: Even with the L2, R2, and second analog stick missing. This THUG port plays very well, and has all its combo's in-tact.

Replay Value: This UMD is packed. It will be spinning in your psp's for a long while.

Overall: Those looking for some THUG on the go just got there prayers answered.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour
User Image
The Greatest Hits of Tiger Woods, and it works great on the PSP. 8.4/10

This game serves as a great launch title for the PSP. It pushes the PSP as hard as it can for a first-gen game for the console. However being great it does come with some consequences. If you enjoy golf games, and/or golfing you will feel just like your on the links playing this game. It still uses the analog nub to swing, which was seen in the past few Tiger Woods titles. It's almost boggling that such a complete package can be had on a handheld, and it's one that will be difficult for anyone with a taste for golf (or just golf video games) to resist. This is golf simulation at its best. This game is packed tight with the amount of stuff there is to unlock. Which will keep you playing for a long time. You get your character and start off by defining him as yours. You do this using the "Game Face" feature that Tiger Woods golfing games have implemented in the past few.

User Image

Once you have completed personalizing your golfer you move on to stats, which are low to start off with but quickly rise with the amount of contenders and tournaments you beat. With the amount of money you make you may also purchase new clubs, and gear to give you stat bonuses.

User Image

There are tons of mode to play through, mainly career though. Multiplayer is great on this game but doesnt have as much of a lasting appeal as Hot Shots. "Aside from the breadth of content in Tiger Woods PGA Tour, the most impressive thing about the game is the way it looks. It appears to be running on the same engine that powers the console Tiger games. A lot of the details have been simplified. Specifically, the character models seem to have fewer polygons to them, and the textures are noticeably blurrier. Even still, it maintains a nice, realistic look and even includes a few of the dramatic camera angles that have lent the series a distinctive flavor in recent years. All this "pretty" comes at a bit of a price, though...specifically in terms of time. Tiger Woods PGA Tour has some pretty serious load times all over the place. This would be quite a detriment to more-action-oriented games, but golf doesn't suffer from a more disciplined tempo." says Ryan Davis of Gamespot.com

User Image
User Image

Due to the game being so large, it does suffer from some loading time issues. But you quickly forget and forgive it of this due to the beauty of the game, and how much fun it is to play. Tiger Woods PGA Tour is by far the best handheld golf game to date. This is one of the best sports titles you can pick up from launch, for any sports fan.

arrow Presentation:
This game is like playing real golf off the links. Atleast thats what it feels like to me. It simply presents itself well for a launch game.
arrow Graphics:
Graphics are amazing on this title. It just just like its console counter-part. It is amazing how it could manage to do so.
arrow Sound:
The sound in this game is very realistic, the commentating doesnt get annoying at any point which is good.
arrow Controls:
It feels just like its console predecessor taking no real changes to it controls.
arrow Overall:
This game comes fully loaded, so be prepared to spend alot of time on this game. It is incredibly fun, and has kept me entertained even with Hot Shots Golf out now. It is sincerely still the best golf sim out there.
Well that is it for me on this game. I am going to go play some more PSP, cant get enough. Peace, Love, and Enjoy. Reju Out.

Welcome, kiddies. When one thinks of the Metal Gear series, action, espionage, strategy, brilliant story, and heart pounding suspense all come to mind. The newest installment in the Metal Gear can also be described like its predecessors, kind of. Metal Gear Ac!d is a card game, so it's much harder to have the same level of action and suspense, but the strategy element is the same, if not, greater than the others. Well, let's get to the review.

For a quick review, goto the bottom of my post.

User Image
Sneaky Snake. Claymores are deadly, and flattening against the wall helps keep you out of sight.

Gameplay - Of course, the gameplay is nothing like the other Metal Gears, so that will turn some people away, and on top of that, it's a card game, which will turn even more people away. The levels are grided and have depth, like a numbed down Tactics. All the memorable MG tactics are still here, crawling, hanging, flattening against walls, knocking, CCQ, and shooting grenades. Your base move is 3 squares, and most cards can be used to move. Weapons are either of equip or use type, meaning you can use them on the spot, or you have to equip and load the weapon before attacking. There are four other types of cards, including action, support, item, and character. Actions can add accuracy, or block attacks, and everything in between. Support cards include hanging, climbing, lowering the cost of user or ally, and evades. Items are pretty much self explanitory, all different kinds of rations and healing items, and even certain types of magazines that "entertain" the soldiers. Character cards are by far the best. Call upon Cyborg Ninja, or even Solidus Snake to help out during battles. The pace of the battles are slowed down a lot, and the action is lessened by a small degree, however the depth of battle is much greater.

User Image
This is what moving looks like. The grid isn't present at all times like other strategy/card games.

Gameplay - 8

Sound/Music - The music is traditional MG music. There is, of course, the panic music and codec sounds that have been in the MGSs. The music can get very repetitive, due to the battles tending to be on the long side. The sound is crisp and clean. Everything from the gun shots, to the explosions, to the simplistic sounds are nice.

Sound/Music - 8.5

Graphics - Definately where this game excels. Not quite PS2, and out of PlayStations league, it's almost dead in the middle. Everything is pretty well detailed, the character models look extremely well, along with the environments. And the explosions are truly beautiful. Everytime a grenade goes off, it's like the first time all over again.

User Image
The graphics are much better than the first MGS, but not quit up there with MGS2. It's still beautiful though.

Graphics - 9

Story - The story is pretty deep, but not as deep as the other stories. Ac!d doesn't really tie into the Solid series, due to a completely new cast, sans Snake. I haven't beat the game, so I don't know if there is anyone else, but I doubt it. The basic story is that a plane is hijacked, and Snake is working against the clock to save lives, as always. The new cast adds to the freshness, but it's the basis of the other stories.

Story - 7.5

Overall [NOT AN AVERAGE] 8.5

For the hardcore MGSers, you may not like this game, but for those who liked the turnout of PSO3, and/or like to give all games a try, this is a great game to pick up.

Quick Review - For you lazy asses biggrin

Gameplay - Card Game. Very involved and deep. Slower pace than the other MGs.
Sound/Music - Simply stunning. It's like ear candy...or something like that.
Graphics - Crisp and Clean. The best asset of this game. Visuals are great.
Story - Same old, same old. Race against the clock. Stupid terrorists.

User Image
I had to throw this one in. Snake with Dual HF Blades is just too kick a**.

"So close, yet so far"

When Coded Arms was first announced I was rather excited, I am a fan of the FPS genre afterall. And this was the first FPS on my favorite handheld. So, I pretty much HAD to check it out.

The first thing you notice about Coded Arms is the graphics. This game offers some really great visuals. It puts the PSP's power to work. But after some hours of playing you might notice there are not that many tile sets(What appears on the walls and floors) for the levels, and the ones that are there are used to death over and over which makes the levels feel the same. But thats all I have to knock the graphics. Besides that, everything looks great.

Now, graphics alone don't make a good game. Coded Arms offers many weapons to choose from, and not only that. But you can also level these weapons up. Which is actually one of the coolest parts of the game. Allowing you to level up your favorite weapons. Each weapon has a special type assigned to it, which works good agianst a certain type of enemy. Which adds some strategic value to the game. Speaking of enemies, there are alot of diffrent ones. From soldiers to robots to bugs and alien looking things. And each class fights diffrently. Sadly though, the AI is pretty poor. Like once, I was coming up in the elevator and the soldior is right infront of me, and he doesn't even shoot. He just sits there. And most enemies attack in a pattern. (fire some rounds, run around, reload wash and repeat)

One thing on alot of gamers minds was wether or not the PSP could even do a FPS. I tell you my friends, the PSP can indeed pull off an FPS. The game lets you choose from a bunch of diffrent control schemes. Or even create your own. The controls sure aren't as good as dual analog, and do take some time getting used to but it does give off the illusion that your using dual analog. And once you have played for an hour or so, the controls become second hand. And if that isn't enough the game offers a helpful target drag, which drags your cross hairs towards enemies if your aiming close enough towards them. But dont think of it as a lock-on, because it isn't. You still have to do alot of the work, but this little tool is quite helpful for those having trouble working with the controls.

For some odd reason, Coded Arms doesn't really have a story. (It doesn't even tell you the main character's name) It tells you your a hacker. And that you have entered a goverment system full of viruses. Thats about it. And the game dabs little aspecs of the internet to make you feel like your seriously in a networld. Like naming weapons like Files/Plug-ins. And before every level a matrix llike entrance portal takes you to the level. Oh, did I mention load times are almost nothing? Seriously, you will barely care about the 3-6 seconds you wait for it to load.

And now, for the one thing that killed the game for me. The level design. Yes, the randomly generated levels. The levels are horrible, with dead ends, bad enemy placement, and most rooms ending up being a square or rectangle which leads into a hallway, into another room.

But I do have to give the random levels SOME credit. Some of the levels were actually pretty cool with multiple floors in some rooms and elevators and what not. But it just wasn't worth it. I could forgive the bad AI, but the levels were just too bad to forgive. Konami thought they were doing good with random levels, it would add more replay value. But I seriously think the game would have been better with 15 or so developed levels.

arrow Graphics: A very good looking FPS game. Too bad there weren't that many tile sets.

arrow Sound: Mostly looped techno, with the usual loud guns. Mostly forgettable.

arrow Controls: Its not dual analog, but it holds its own.

arrow Replay Value: Even with randomly generated levels, it isn't much. After getting all the weapons, theres not much to do. The multiplayer COULD have been good, but without an infracture mode. You are forced to stay local.

arrow Overall: Ok, so its not the greatest FPS game. It could have been better. But there is still some fun to have had here. And any FPS enthusiast should atleast rent it.

Overview

Rating: 3.8/10
Difficulty: Semi-Difficult - Difficult
Learning Curve: 30-45 minutes

"Rengoku: Tower of Purgatory" looked good when I grabbed it off the shelf. But thats was about all the 'good looking' it did for me. The controls are clunky at first and take some getting used to. Although the game does come through on its promise of killing large amounts of androids. In fact, thats all you do besides changes weapons and save.

Gameplay

The game is a basic hack and slash game similiar to Untold Legends but set in the future (and slightly shorter load times xd ). The main problem I had with the game is the combat system. Its not that the system is bland and repetitive, its the opposite. Each weapon is bound to a different button. It's a good idea but poorly executed, because when you get into a battle it doesn't matter what you hit as long as you use a weapon. Also in the combat system its likes Resident Evil, you can't move and shoot. The AI becomes smarter and stronger fast. By level 3 my a** was gettin' beat down by androids left and right. Not that this would be a problem, except every time you die you drop your weapons and you can't recover them. The boss battles were fun while they lasted but overall the game has little replayability since finding weapons is as easy as beating an enemy.

Graphics

The gaphics in Rengoku are below most of what I've seen. I was dissappointed by what I saw when I started my game after I had seen the opening cinematic. Every room is about the same is texture and color, brown walks and gray floors. The detail on the player character was nice compared to the enviroments and some of the weapon animations were done well. But I really wanted to see some individuality in the walls.

Music
Same loop for most of the game. I didn't really listen much I just muted it.

Controls
D-Pad - Move
Analog Stick - Camera Control, the camera worked fine but the controls on the analog were awful. It reset back after you release the stick and it only rotated about 140 degrees or so.
Triangle - Head attack/Back
Square - L. Arm Attack
X - Chest Attack/Accept
Circle - R. Arm Attack
Left Shoulder - Lock on
Right Shoulder - Center Camera

The controls were horrible at first. But after I adjusted they were tolerable.

Multiplayer*

Up to 4 player Ad Hoc deathmatch. Or you can trade weapons with a friend. The trading would be more interesting if the game had a wider host of weapons. The deathmatch for the same reason seems mediocre.

*I have not used the multiplayer myself but have talked with people who have.

Overall

A rental if you really like hack and slash games. Other than that pass up Rengoku, its just not worth US$40. There's to little individuality in the game, between the 2 types of walls, 3 types of enemies and 0 types of strategy.

"Rims that don't fit"

Midnight Club 3: DUB was an incredible game on the consoles. A game that I consider better then Need For Speed: Underground 2. Which is really this games only competition. When the port of this game was released for the PSP. I had to pick it up to have my racing fix on the go. But I was sadly dissapointed.

This game has HORRIBLE load times. The load times for every race. (Thats right, you have to load after each race) Was around 70sec.+ Now, I am a patient person. I can wait, but for a handheld title these load times were just FAR too long.

The sense of speed is a very important factor in racing games. And this game pulls it off well. But you will notice some slow down in frame rate from time to time. Where the frame rate pratically drops. Almost worse then NFSU:R's frame rate. Which really hurts the sense of speed.

When you think of a port on a handheld. You think a watered down version. This is not the case in MC. Almost everything from the console is here. All the tracks, the 3 entire citys, every car/suv/motorcycle. Almost all of the customization options are here aswell. And Rockstar somehow managed to fit it all on a little UMD.

Graphically, this is where the game excels. This game is gorgeous. The car models are great. The streets and enivorment look wonderful. Some were even bold enough to say that this game graphically can compare to the xbox version of the same game. If that doesn't tell you how good this game looks, then I don't know what will.

The FMV's (cutscenes if you will) are jaw-dropping. You will seriously beguin to wonder HOW rockstar was able to fit it all on a UMD. (Hell, I am still wondering)

Music-wise the game puts together a lengthy 30(estimate) or so tracks of Rap, Rock, and Techno. Which all have very good quality. This is a game you might just want to play with your headphones on. But beware there are some music glitches in the game but nothing that really hampers the audio quality of this game.

Alot of developers have been complaining about how difficult it is to get the handling of the analog nub right. Twisted Metal got it ALL wrong, and ridge racers tryed but got a miss. Then comes MC as if there was no problem at all. The analog nub works like a dream, its not perfect. But its pretty damn close.

The difficulty of this game never feels cheap. When you crash, you still have a pretty good chance of getting back in first. And when you get ahead the computer never just seems to magically catch up. They work for the win just as hard as you do.

This game was made for the consoles. Not for the PSP. It just doesn't have that glove fit that some other ports have. Its a great game by all means, one of the best racing games. But it just wasn't tailored for our PSP.

arrow Graphics: Amazing, need I say more?

arrow Sound: Bust out those sony headphones, this is a soundtrack you might actually WANT to hear.

arrow Controls: The analog works fine. Better then most racers.

arrow Replay Value: This is a big game. It will spin in your UMD drive for a while...loading.

arrow Overall: The loading will most likely get you so frustrated you might return the game. But if you can hold out, this is one hell of a racing game.

8.5/10

Story:
The game starts as a group of "special" kids (special meaning the insane type), go to a museum on a feildtrip! The group of kids consists of Pandora (a gothic looking girl that is always getting into trouble, and carrys the Pandora Box),Stigmartha (the brains of the group, and my favorite), Seep (bassically a legless/armless talkin corps in a giant testtube on wheels),Dead Guppy (a dead fish), and Death (main charecter, duhh)!
Anyways, they go to the museum and death opens a mysterious box that unleashes a ancient evil that sets free demons all over the town and steals the souls of Death Jr.'s friends!Death doesnt want to let his dad (Death) to find out about his mess so he trys to fix everything without his dad knowing.
So to get ur friends souls back, u travel to favorite areas of town that that person Hangouts at! The objective is to get through a level and get one of the three peices of a puzzle that will give back a charecters souls!

Gameplay:
The game bassically plays like a cheesy verson of Devil May Cry! You have a syth that can be used to do wicked combos and break objects! You also have a small arsenal of firearms to use including:Twin Pistols, Shotgun, Chain Gun, Rocket Launcher, Freeze Thrower, Flame Thrower, Electric Gun, and my favorite....
C4 HAMPSTERS!
When using firearms, only the twin pistols have infinite ammo! The other weapons require ammo found in levels of the game! When firing the guns, DJ can either lock-on to the nearist enemy with R or he can shoot in First person (while standing still) with L!

Graphics/Enviroment:
The graphics for the game are so-so! There not really all that good! The game tends to go in crappy camera angels that leave you questioning where your opponent is! The enviroment on the other hand is really good! Most anything can be broke and blood shoots from most of the enviroment! DJ's syth also comes in handy when the levels are filled with a deadly substence u have to fly past! DJ can use his syth as a helichopter propeller and glide acroos areas! He can also hook onto wires and "Zipline" acroos areas!

Sound:
The soundeffects are slick and sound great! The game music is ok! Its sounds like a mixture of Marilyn Manson effects and the Creepyness found in The Adams Family!

Difficulty:
The game starts off easy and then gets chanllenging quick! The game loves to try to piss u off with cheap bosses and even cheaper enemys! They dont fight far!
It usualy goes in this pattern:2/3 kammakazes that run at you and blowup, 2/4 big dudes that can stomp the crap out of you, and 5/6 little bastards that shoot stuff at you and runaway! They have strength (and cheapness) in numbers! You MUST have patience when u play later in the game, unless you want to scrap peices of your broken PSP off the wall!

exclaim arrow Overall all the game is good!I would give it a 9/10!
I still think the $35 price for i was crap, but if u dont feel like buying it, at least rent it!
exclaim WARNING:I just completedthe game and it took me less than 2 days to beat (but i was playing it nonstop)! Keep in mind its a bit on the short side....but still great exclaim

Ridge Racer, when I think of this I think classic arcade racing games. This is certainly one of those. This is the latest game to be released from the Ridge series.
First impressions: This was the first game I played when I bought my PSP. So I didn?t really have anything to gauge it on. Actually got play the Japanese version of this game. When my local shop imported a PSP from Japan. I only played it for a few minutes and everything was in Japanese, so I didn't really get a good go of it then. But since I bought my copy I got to have a good play of it.
The first think thing that blew me away was the intro, I know that sounds cheesy, but the GC looked so good it was hard to believe that it was that this was handheld system. It was like the PS2. One thing that some of the Ridge racer games have is a pre-game, game(geezz thats hard to say) It?s a simple little game that loads up before the intro. I remember Ridge Racer Revolution had space invaders. I?m not sure how many people actually play the pre-game. But if you do, it's a fun little maze car game.
Ridge racer uses tracks from games in the Ridge Racer series and other Namco racing games such as Rage Racer and Rave Racer. So chances are you?ll know some of the tracks. It uses the normal fictional cars that are normal for the series.
The feel: To me this is a very important. A game must feel right. What mean by this is the way the car feels to drive, It must feel natural, I know that sounds weird, but there are so many racing games that ruined because when it come the game play, they are chunky and rough. Ridge Racer is silky smooth. The way it handles feels better than previous Ridge series games. It handless great it is easy to do long stylish drifts. As far as realism goes, it totally sucks, but Ridge Racer was never meant to be realistic. You can do huge drifts where you are at such an angle that you are facing the way you game and still bring it back, that is not realistic in the slightest. The main thing is that it is fun, and it sure is.

The graphics in my opinion are great, I would say almost better than Ridge Racer5 on PS2. I know it quite something to say that it has better graphics than PS2. I have seen no glitches in the game. These are things like thing becoming transparent and thing moving through objects that they shouldn?t. The game really looks spectacular. I said this before but its hard for me to believe that it is hand held. I mean this game could be on PS2 and would be happy with it.

Sound: I didn?t notice anything weird about the sound. To me the engine and car noises sounded like they should, to me it sounded like should. One thing I should say is that use head phones, good quailty HI-FI head phones, and it sounds really good on thoses The soundtrack is weird dance/techno stuff that may become a bit annoying; I got used to it and grew to like it. But you can always turn it off if you don't like it.And the announcer can be a pain in the butt, saying things like'Wow what a cool drift!' and 'com'on you can pass him', but i'm not sure if you can trun him off or not.
Summing up. In my opinion, This game cements the Ridge series as some of the best arcade racers on any system. This game is certainly one of the best racing games for PSP at the moment.

Spiderman 2

Graphics: This is my first PSP game (I didn't get it by choise, the store was all sold out of PSPs unless I got a certain bundle, PSP,Spiderman 2 and Metal gear ac!d...Don't worry, tomorrow I'm exchanging them for Lumines and Ape academy) So I don't have much of a frame of refrence. It looks fine, there are plenty of diffrent levels (even some nice outdoorsy ones, and classic green grids for the traning mode) and the FMV's look great - only the likness to the actors in the movie isn't always great.

Gameplay/Controlls: OW OW OW. Alot of this game requires you to use the "Dodge" move, which is hold L+Direction+X. After a little while, my left hand really started to hurt, and that was only the first boss fight!

Other than that, the controlls are quite friendly. R to webswing, Triangle too fire a web, square to punch, X to jump and circle to kick. The analoge stick moves you around and the D-pad moves the camera. Down on the D-pad centers the camera behind you which can be a real pain in the a** if you've just turned a corner, want to keep moving AND need to see where you're going. You've gotta stop moving, press down, then start moving again.

Other than a camera problem every now and then, the only other problem would be corners. Spidey can walk on walls and ceilings, but if you walk from a ceiling to a wall, the camera turns and sometimes the controlls don't. The end result is a kind of weird dance untill you get fed up and decide to jump down.

I did have fun playing around web swinging and "Zipping" along hallways and air vents! I also like the move where you're able to throw an enemy. I killed many a bad guy by throwing him off of the roof.

With a devil may cryesk rating system (Well, the higher the combo the higher the points) you gain hero points. At the end of each level you can visit the store and unlock useful things like "Strength 2" "Web recovery 2" et cetra et cetra. Unless you're 4 and have no fingers, scoring is easy and unlocking all the moves only takes a once through the game run.

Sound: Some of the music in this game was supprisingly funky! It has alot of that kind of "Fighty-fighty Crystal method//Juno reactor" type music. The sound effects where pretty much like in the movie, and the charactors voices are all done by the movie cast.

Other stuff: There are unlockable extras in the store which try to add a little replay value. They..fail quite misarably. Once you complete the game, you get the level select function. You need to go back and earn 10000(or something) hero points to unlock the movie theater, where you can watch the movies from the start of each level! Great, right!? Wait..if they're at the beginning of each level and I have level select....Hmm.

The other extras are story boards and production art for the game's levels and FMV's which are kind of dull unless you're a hard core fan. Also, with the amount of hero points I had left after finishing the game, it took about 20 minutes to unlock the rest of the stuff.

The end part: Spiderman two would be good for hard-hard-hardcore spidy fans. Unless that applys to you, I'd leave this one for your little brother.

The pictures(Feel free to edit them out if they're too big!):

The Legend of Heroes : A Tear of Vermillion.

Classic RPG goodness, that has been highly under-rated. 7.5/10

This is one of the biggest suprises I have come upon, since owning my PSP in March. I was suprised of the reviews. This game really isnt that bad, as long as you can get over a few things. It has had mixed reviews, but I was just disgusted with the review IGN.com had given it. Even though it is an older RPG it is still fun, and perfect for the PSP.
The Legend of Heroes tailors in a new era of PSP ownership with RPGs. With PoPoLoCrois just around the riverbend, we have this one to hold us off. Being the second in the line of a trilogy known in japan as "The Gagharv Trilogy," it woudnt suprise me one bit to see more come out of this than just a single game.
The game is just like any other solid RPG, with your mundane quest's, and storytelling. What sets it apart is the diverse world your playing, and the depth of the story. The only thing you have to get over is the few gramatical erorrs that come up, due to poor translation. It isnt horrible enough to where you cant understand it, it just sounds weird in your head when you read it.
There is also a pet system which they have adapted from what it feels like tomodatchi. You have the ability to Feed, Praise, and Scold. Depending on the mood of your pet you can recieve various benefits such as defense bonuses in battle, and random items.
The game is a little easy, but it is perfect for anyone who is looking for a solid, long rpg that wont take you a day to beat. Bandai is already working on the 3rd of the trilogy to be relased TBA 2006. That one is called "White Witch."
The battle system is turn based, and will leave you wanting more experience. It doesnt take long to get used to, very basic.

arrow Sound:
The sound is good, between battles and the world map. Some music can feel very repetitious, but then again some of it is amazingly beautiful.
arrow Load Times:
Non-existent pretty much.
arrow Overall:
Overall, this game was highly under-rated. It deserves better than what it got, because their is alot more posotive about this game then negative. If your looking for a RPG that is fun, and very conventional, then this is yoru game. If your looking for FF XII then go buy a PS2.
Well that is it for me on this post. I have spent too much time here already, I need to go play some more. Have Fun, and Enjoy. Reju Out.
