I was reading in my bible and came across this verse:
Whin I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
What does it mean?

I think what Paul was saying here is that you should put away childish things. and he gives an exsample. Like when your a kid you don't know how the world works your just living in it, but once you start to grow up you shouldn't hold onto thinking or speaking as a child. So now that your older you have to start thinking( that is scary for me blaugh j/k) now that doesn't mean that you can't still act as a child mrgreen but you should understand things as an adult like persen. ( ya that so made sence ninja ) hope this helps ^_^

I also think that it is referring to spiritual growth as well. A baby Christian doesn't really understand all that it is that God has to offer, but as you grow in Christ (by reading your Bible and praying) then we begin to see the fullness of Christ's riches and glory.

Pretty much what he's saying is grow up. Don't do what you did when you were a younger Christian that made you grow now. Increase it grow it if you spend 10 minutes in the word make it 20 etc.etc.etc. If you pray for 15min make it 30. But then again this is all proportional to your spiritual walk with The Lord. (This applys physically and spiritually)

One thing that kind of confuses me is that we are supposed to have child like faith, and yet we are to give up childish things.

what it means to have child like faith is this: a child will believe what you tell it, and trust you implicitly....we are to be like that with Jesus...we are, however, supposed to be mature....

It's saying that you shouldn't keep doing things you did before you became a christian (when you were a "child"), but that you should work daily to grow with Christ.
