This is an anime series... not sure if it's new or not, but its based on a computer game of the same name(I think). It's right up our alley, I imagine. You can watch fan-subbed episodes on youtube.com, or if you can understand japanese, you can watch them without the english subs. I don't understand a lick of it outside the translated stuff.

Here's a sample link:

Check it out, and if you actually have heard of this and you know something about it, post here and let us know. I'm really curious about it.

This DOES belong in the Off-Topic thread......however, I'm finding that this guild feels a tad restricting........so, I'mma gonna make a new Off-Topic forum about whatever, yo. domokun
I'll be moving this thread to the new off-topic forum in a day or so so people folk will know where this be goin'.

cool beans about moving the thread, but what does any one know about the show? Anything?

Actually, it appears that the horror is sparse in the series thus far. It's sort of a horror-themed mystery circulating around the same characters and themes, but each story had a twist.

anyhoo, any comments?

This may sound insensitive, Bingo, but are you cosplaying Nevada-tan by any chance?

I know this response is a tad...late, but no. I actually have no idea what you're talking about.

I watched the final episode of the series today, and although it may have not been a hit here in the guild, I admit that I rather enjoyed it.

it was creepy.

I believe the series is a couple of years old, however, it's not all that well known over here, so it's not surprising you just found it. I actually just started watching it about a month ago myself.

It was based on a series of visual novel computer games. Wikipedia has a fairly extensive list of the releases... there's also a DS game and at least one ps2 game, but I'm fairly certain you would only be able to find them in Japanese. This is a link to a small blog dedicated to the games - and offers links to download the demo version of the game (which gives you an entire chapter), or the full version of the first game, if you want to pay $15. They're working on translation patches, but they only have the first chapter done.

If you want, I can direct you to download links of the series as well. There's also a second season called Higurashi no naku koro ni kai. You really have to watch all of it to figure out what exactly is going on in the series.

I think there's also at least one live action movie (that was released at the end of last month), and a manga series as well - which just seems to be making its way to the shelves in my area. If you don't want to go through the trouble of getting the games, the manga seems to go through the same story arcs.

I was at the Anime convention today, and there was a Horror Anime panel, that I sat in on, and they talked about this one a lot. I'll definitely check it out when I get a new computer.
