Marie-Christine von Reibnitz Common Room

Ornated in spires of silver and lavender, a set of tall, carved french doors lead grandly into the Marie-Christine von Reibnitz common room. The intricate detail etched upon the glass panes of the door change in design daily according to the whims of the magic that lies within them and bespeak a certain elegant air that falls about the ancient building.

Within the stone walls lay couches and small chairs upholstered in matching tones of lavendar and silver. Small tables adorn the sides of the walls, leaving space for students to study and eat, creating a welcoming common room for the students that reside in the dorm.

((Where did he come from?! Find out here))

The grass in front of the large gothic arch flattened with a thud as Jaycee dropped his sack. The solid grey brick building towered over him as he pulled a slightly wrinkled letter from his shirt. Dark eyes ran quickly over the letter before moving up to the dark wooden door. His piano fingers reached out, gently touching the door.

To his amazement, the door swung open, almost on it's own. Lifting his bag back onto his shoulder, Jaycee stepped inside.

Into another world it seemed. The gentle coloring of the gigantic room he stood in outdid even the tapestries he'd seen in Lord's manors. "At least it doesn't look like a prison on the inside" he thought "And I hope my room isn't colored like this. That would be a nightmare".

Bending down, Jaycee carefully slipped off his boots. It would be a shame to track mud all over this beautiful carpet. Carrying the boots so as not to drop any of the caked mud off them, he made his way around the furnature and up the stairs. Spaces

Echoing footsteps in the hall announced Jaycee before he appeared at the railing on the upper level. "This room will take some getting used to" he thought as he slowly made his way down the stairs. "It'll be great to study in though". His yukata rustled softly as he pushed past the furnature. He loved the sound and feel of this garment, it was loose fitting enough to feel free, but closed enough to ensure he didn't feel exposed.

Although he was well muscled from running as a courier and constant training as a martial artist, he still wasn't very appreciative of his body. It never seemed to fill out, and always was slower than he wanted it to be. His attitude towards himself was reflected in his clothing. Having been raised to admire men with strapping chests, he always felt a bit guarded about his own slender frame. The flowing Yukatas and leggings of his adopted family's dress code were perfect for him though, obscuring his physical capability. They also had conveniantly large pockets...

"If only this cursed thing would stop chafing so" he thought as he reached the door. Maybe he'd stop wearing the metal corset thing for classes, it really was uncomfortable. As he touched the door, it swung open inwards again. Jaycee marveled at it for a brief moment before turning and stepping outside. "Now, to find who's in charge of admissions..."

((Coming in from the chilly night, Jaycee just finished visiting over here))

Quickly closing the door behind him, Jaycee shivered. The yukata which had been warm when he put it on, now felt like ice. It would have probably been warmer had he not worn the damp blue garment. Of course, he hadn't expected it to be quite so cold out either.

Taking off the royal blue Yukata, he stood in front of the strangely colored fire, trying to warm his icicle feeling hands. The strange lavender hue of the flames fascinated him, but seemed less warm than the hearty red of a normal fire. As he warmed his hands, the silence of the hall crept in about him. He couldn't hear anyone else stirring in the building, and for some reason, that made him feel strangely alone...

The silence that seemed to pervade the building broke with the rustling of robes and chatter of small-talk. Jaycee glanced up from the flames to watch the source of the noise. Two girls, who apparently hadn't even noticed him were laughing to eachother as they headed up the steps. Jaycee's dark eyes turned back to the fire, seeking comfort in its dancing form "At least it's not silent anymore...".

After reflecting on the flames for several more minutes, the young man rose from in front of the fire, and picked his way around the furnature scattered through the room. Mackenzie hadn't been terribly helpful when it came to answering his questions about food, but the servants were bound to know. Jaycee had plenty of experience with going hungry, but he planned not to if at all possible.

The stones under his feet were smoothed and worn, as if by constant traffic. That combined with the now faint sounds of clattering indicated to the quiet young man that he had found what he was looking for. A little further down the hall from the commons room was a pair of large double doors, from which the sounds of a kitchen made themselves heard. Pushing his way past them, Jaycee was assaulted by hot air mixed with hundreds of smells.

Less than ten minutes later, he found himself back in the commons room, sitting at a table near the fire. The difference was the large platter of steaming food that sat in front of him, begging to be eaten. He indulged it, eating as quickly as manners would allow, pausing occasionally to daintily wipe his mouth with a napkin before continuing to scarf down the victuals. Before he was finished even, a servant appeared to take his plate, and Jaycee sighed happily as the nearly empty pewter dish was carried away. Now, he should do something about either school or sleep...

This was definitely not normal. As the servant dissapeared wthi his plate, Jaycee reflected on how he had never really been served like that before. Occasionally when he and WIll stayed at some of the nicer taverns... "No! Think about someething else hissed a small voice in the back of his mind. Of course, it was right. Remembering things wouldn't help. Standing quickly, the young man winced as the metal straps around his ribcage pressed into him at the wrong angle. "Accursed thing, I think I'll stop wearing it here" he thought to himself as he weaved around the couches and chairs.

After making his way up the steps, he paused, overlooking the commons room. It was a pretty place, but definitely not one that seemed comforting to his tired eyes. From here he could hear the two girls from earlier, laughing and chatting in the room right behind him. "I hope they quiet down later, it'll be hard to sleep if they keep up that level of noise. Resuming his trek back to the dorm room assigned to him, Jaycee thanked god he didn't have a roommate yet.

The eerie blue torches were unnerving to Jaycee, magic still wasn't something that he was used to. They cast fewer shadows than the smokey wooden ones that had marred the walls of Jaycee's old home, but they still lacked the warmth and familiarity that he was looking for. "What? You want something familiar? All that time as a courier didn't teach you to appreciate what you have?"

Stopping before his door, he quietly spoke."Jaycee Mendaci." The young man glanced up and down the hall before stepping into his dorm room. It was best to ignore the cynical little voice in his mind for now, he wasn't in the mood to deal with it.

((Came from here))

Quickly making his way down the hall, Jaycee noted that he could still hear those two noisy girls in their room. A small tendril of gratefulness threaded through his mind that he could not hear them in his room. That would be most annoying. Readjusting the bokken under his belt to slip down the steps, the young man quickly pressed through the commons room and pushed the main door open. After a brief glance around the room, Jaycee turned and stepped out into the cold darkness of outside.

((Who's crazy enough to train outside and at night?))
