A pendulum is a divination device consisting of a string attached to a heavy object such as a crystal or the like. Questions are divined by noting the motion of the pendulum during divination.
How can I use a pendulum?
You can use pendulums to answer simple yes or no questions, as well as dowsing for water or mineral deposits in the ground.
To scry for a yes or no answer, first you have to get to know your pendulum and what movement represents what answer for you. To start, place your middle finger under the weight and ask it to show you its motion for yes. Try this a few times without influencing it's swing. Leave your mind blank and don't imagine how you want it to swing. It helps if you meditate each time before using your pendulum.
To scry for a no answer, hold your index finger under the weight and ask it to show you no. Again, try this a few times to make sure that you get the same response each time.
To practise asking your pendulum questions, inquire about the weather, your dog's name, and your age. Things that you know the correct answer of at that moment. Do this until your andwers are true to your question. If you're sixteen years old, and you ask it, "Am I sixteen years old?" it should swing a definite yes. Again, leave your mind blank so you're not influencing how it swings. As you get used to using your pendulum, you can ask more relevant questions.
Another way to use your pendulum is to use charts. Charts can say anything - including the words Yes and No. They can have pictures, maps, symbols, or the alphabet - used to spell out words - much like a ouija board. You can even use your pendulum over a ouija board as it has letters and often numbers on it. Always remember - no matter how you use this tool - if the information you receive becomes destructive or makes you feel uncomfortable in any way - you must STOP!

There is also a third way to use pendulums -- with your chakras.
Stand in front of - or directly behind - the person you are working with.
Place the pendulum directly over their crown chakra [top of head]. It will either swing back and forth or side to side - or in circles.
Next place the pendulum in front of the third eye [forehead]. If the chakra is balanced the pendulum will swing in the opposite direction of the crown chakra - or the circles will be reversed.
Continue with each chakra down the line - throat, solar plexus, spleen, and root.
If a chakra is balanced the pendulum will continue to reverse polarities.
If it is out of balance the pendulum will swing in the wrong direction - or not at all.
You can also use the pendulum by placing it slowly a few inches away from a person's body. The point should remain still and move when it locates a problem.
You can also use your pendulum to find lost objects (I personally use my pendulum for this purpose), by walking into a room and asking your pendulum if the object in question is anywhere nearby.
How can I make my own pendulum?
Pendulums can be made of different materials. The best length for the pendulum is six inches. As long as the bobber - or weight on the end - is not too light - nor too heavy. It should weigh less than half an ounce. The best shape for the weight - or point - is something that comes to a point.
You can make your pendulum or buy one. Pendulums are a simple way to communicate with the other side. I have seen people in stores use them to select products such as - books - produce - clothing - just about anything.
The most common types of pendulums are:
- a crystal tied with wire then suspended on a chain or cord
- a chain necklace with some kind of charm suspended at the bottom
- a chain with metal pointer at the bottom - these are usually store-bought
- the human body - which is a pendulum that can move back and forth - or side to side, or in circles.
