I. Getting Started
a. Signing in
To begin playing Pokemon Den of Ages you must first do three things:
1. Download the client off of the official website: http://pokemondoa.mmogamez.com/
2. You must register for an account by: Opening the client and clicking at the bottom of the screen, The Register Button.
3. Input your Username and Password into the Corresponding boxes and press the Sign in button.
Note: If you have a firewall and it does not automatically ask for permission to allow Pokemon Den of Ages to access the internet, you must go under program rules and add Pokemon Den of Ages to the allowed programs list.
b. Rules of the Game
As of right now: No Cussing, No Spamming the chat, No cheating, and especially NO HACKING.
c. Getting Your First Pokemon
To get your first Pokemon, you must go to Professor Maple’s lab and talk to Professor Maple. She will give you three Pokemon to choose from a Water type, a Fire type and a Grass type. The three Pokemon are balanced in strength against one another. Grass is weak against fire but Strong against water. Fire is strong against Grass but weak against Water. Water is strong against Fire but weak against Grass. Once you choose a Pokemon, you will be given the option to give your Pokemon a nickname, if you want to then input the nickname, if not, then go the okay button and press start.
d. Controls
To move your character around in the Pokemon world, you must use the Directional Arrows to move your character in all directions. The Up arrow moves your character Up, the Down arrow moves your character Down, the Left Arrow button moves your character left, and the Right arrow button moves your character Right. To bring up the menu in game, you must press the Start Button. To choose options in battle, you must press the Z key [A button]. To back out of a menu press the X key [B button].
e. How to Battle
The battle system that will be used in the early part [Beta] will be the familiar gameboy advance battle system. But later will be switched to a more realistic system.The basics of battling using Pokemon can be broken down into eight parts:
1. Get the attention of another player through chat or an NPC by pressing the X button.
2. Battle Begins
3. There are four options on the screen during battle they are: Fight, Item, Pokemon [Switch Pokemon] and Run. But during a Pokemon trainer battle running away in not an option.
4. Choose the move that you want to move.
5. Tip 1: Use potions strategically to your advantage [Don’t waste them, use when necessary]
6. Tip 2: Using other items such as X Attack and X Defense helps raise the abilities of your Pokemon and using healing items such as Antidote and Awakening reduces damages and lost turns for your Pokemon.
7. Always have fun when battling and in the end remember to be a good sport if you end up losing. After the battle, you are either taken to a Pokemon center or remain in the area you were in.
f. Catching Pokemon
There are four things to do in order to catch a pokemon.
1. Make sure that you have Pokeballs in the Pokeball pockets
2. Walk around till you find a Pokemon you want.
3. Weaken Pokemon into the red [in order to make it easier to capture]
4. In the menu, choose Item, and scroll over to the Pokeball pocket and choose which ball you want to use.
g. Pokemon Center
The Pokemon center is the most important structure in the Pokemon World.
This is where you can deposit Pokemon via the Computer.
How do you deposit Pokemon. You must do these four things.
1. Go into the Pokemon Center
2. Access the computer by Pressing the X button [A button]
3. Go to Storage
4. Choose Deposit and select the Pokemon that you would like to store.
The same thing works for Withdrawing Pokemon except instead of choosing deposit in Step 4, you must choose withdraw.
The other use of the computer is to deposit items.
How do I deposit items? You must:
1. Enter Pokemon center
2. Access the computer
3. Select Item storage
4. Choose Deposit
Same thing for withdrawal except for step 4, which you must choos Withdraw instead.
This is also where you can heal your Pokemon and this is the main function of the Pokemon center.
How do I heal my Pokemon? You must do these three things.
1. Enter the Pokemon center and Walk up to the Nurse at the counter
2. Talk to the Nurse by pressing the X button [A button].
3. Choose the Yes Option
h. Pokemart
The main point of the Pokemart is to be able to purchase items for use during your travels in Naiyo and to sell extra items.
How do I buy items at the Pokemart? You must:
1. Enter Pokemart
2. Talk to Clerk
3. Choose the buy option
How do I sell items? You must:
1. Enter Pokemart
2. Talk to Clerk
3. Choose the sell option
i. Tips while Playing
1. Always looks at the Pokemon level or skill level of the trainer before battling as they could decieve you into battling for an easy victory.
2. Always make sure that you have come to an acceptable trade and that the trade is not a scam. As suspicious players may wish to trick you into trading a good Pokemon for a common one.
3. As a rule of thumb, be sure to carry atleast a few of these common items: Potions, Super Potions, Antidote, Awakening, Cure all. These will come in handy in most battles and can lead to an advantage over unprepared trainers.
4. Use the chat area for communication about the game. Avoid getting off topic or Cussing as this could lead to punishments such as Banning or Warnings or Worse :Wink:
5. Planning your team well and having solid strategies will ease your way to victory.
6. Make short term goals. Such as Leveling Charmander to level 19 or catching five new Pokemon.

II. Important Characters
a. Professor Maple
Professor Maple is a League Certified Professor and a former Pupil of the Esteemed Professor Oak of the Kanto Region. Professor Maple moved from the Kanto region to oversee research in the Naiyo region. After Trainers graduate the Pokemon Academy they go to Professor Maple for thier first Pokemon.
b. Team Ages
This notorious band of thieves is known throughout the region as the infamous robbers that has stolen several rare fossils that lead to thier reputation as the most wanted group by the Naiyo regional police force. Team Ages is always looking to recruit new grunts and if you grant them your loyalty, you will be rewarded richly. It is rumored that you will receive a fossil for helping them stir up trouble. You can join them or you can fight them and defeat prominent leaders in the group and recieve fossils as a reward for defeating them.
c. Game Masters / Moderators
These prominent figures controls who can play in the game and also monitors the game to make sure that all rules are followed. They are in charged of setting up official and several unofficial events and can set up contests and festivals. The key point of the GMs are to liven up the game and to ensure an enjoyable experience for all players.

III. Pokegear
a. Pokedex
This is the multimedia encyclopedia that stores all the known data about the Pokemon that you have Caught. It gives you information such as the details on the Pokemon, Height comparison chart, cry of the Pokemon and its number in the Pokedex. This product was Originally designed by Professor Oak and improved and distributed by Silph co.
b. Email Device
This device developed by Silph Co. allows you to communicate with Trainers all throughout the region of Naiyo. Silph Co. has transformed the original Pokephone into an email device to allow you to hold hundreds of messages and to be able to fully communicate with other trainers in the game. This will allow you to communicate privately with any trainer as long as you know their number [maybe username].
c. Backpack
The backpack is the essential tool of every Pokemon Trainer. It is an amazing device as it holds all of the items that you will need to succeed on your quest to be the number one Trainer in the region. There are three different parts of the Backpack.
i. Items Pocket
This is where all the important items except Pokeballs will be stored. The items stored here includes: Potions, Silph Scope, Rare Candies and other essential plot driving devices that are given by characters in the game.
ii. Pokeball Pocket
This is where all of the Pokeballs that you need to catch Pokemon are stored. The Pokeball Pocket can hold a near unlimited amount of Pokeballs. The types of Pokeballs include: Pokeball, Greatball, Ultraball, Master ball, fast ball, etc.
iii. HMs/TMs Pocket
This is where all the technology that can teach your Pokemon moves are stored in this Pocket. The two types of technology are HMs and TMs. HMs are moves that can be taught to as many Pokemon as necessary and do run out. TMs are moves that can be only taught to one Pokemon and then will be gone forever. An example of an HM is Surf. An example of a TM is Megapunch.
d. Map
The map displays all of the routes and towns of the Region of Naiyo. The map tells the exact location and gives you an idea of where you are on the map and how close you are to the next town/ route. It is useful for planning out where you want to adventure to next.

III. Events
a. Tournaments
There will be events in Pokemon Den of Ages such as Tournaments as seen in the Pokemon Anime Series. The tournaments will be held like the League tournaments where players are split up into rank level and then battles until it reaches the final. There will be two types of tournaments featured in this game: GM/Mod held and Player held. In general, Mod held tournaments will be like the official Pokemon League Annual Tournament and will have large prizes and more fame than player held.

Mod held tournaments will be like the official Pokemon League Annual Tournament and will have large prizes and more fame than player held. The Mods will announce the tournaments via chat and most likely will also be posted in the general discussion forum.
ii. Player held
Player held tournaments are tournaments held by various players in the game and is not officially sponsored by the Administrators of the game. The prizes for the player held tournament will most likely be less valuable than in the official tournaments. The method of telling of the tournament will be via chat in game and on the General Discussion board.
b. Pokemon Contests
It seems like Pokemon contests may be added later in the game and will b e similar to the structure that was featured in other pokemon games. Other special events that are similar that will be added include seasonal surprises and festivals.
