He plays with a pick, I'm pretty sure.. I gennerally don't use a pick, at all really.. Is there a way to effectively pull this off with no pick? Hmm? neutral

If you're playing fast notes like the first bit of tab it depends on whether you use your thumb or your other fingers. I use a pick most of the time but I've learned a lot about playing without it from a buddy of mine. If you're using your fingers, use two or three and run them like you would rolling your fingers on a desk, roughly. It takes some practice to get the rhythm perfect and the tone consistent, but it works. If you use your thumb, you can use your thumb like a pick. Make a fist with your thumb outstretched to the side, and move your thumb down and up like you would with a pick - down for one stroke, up for another. Good luck and have fun.

You can sound kinda pick-ish with your fingers if you d**k around with your amp/bass settings. Try screwing with your bass's tone and adding some high midrange.
