I was reading another interesting thread on Harmony Forever when I found this. In a quick summary, tweens, teens, and adults (who have not read the books very closely) are mostly R/Hr shippers or H/G shippers. Older and more mature people tend to ship H/Hr shippers. In my opinion, I believe this is half right. It depends basically on three important elements. A) How devoted to the series you are by rereading the books many times B) How you view things in the series C) How mature you are R/Hr and H/G shippers are looked at high school relationships. R/Hr is love-hate while H/G is the perfect girl with the hero. H/Hr, on the other hand, has something all together different. It's based on respect, honestly, and much more. To note here as well, R/LL is also based on this, too. Harmony is/can be for people of all ages. The majority of them are older and more mature. Though...I can't say I'm one of the 'older' ones. Quick off topic here: if you've read some of my posts on the guild here, how many of you thought I was fourteen and not older? Back on topic now, of all ships, Harmony is the most mature ship compared to R/Hr and H/G and so much more deeper. So...agree or disagree? ---thu.huyen

I would say that most shippers for H/Hr are older and probably more experienced. I wouldn't say more mature, but there is a diffrence between how the two react.
I'll give an example:
You see a glass filled half way with water, what do you say?
R/Hr: I see the glass half empty. H/G: I see the glass half full. H/Hr: I see the glass twice as big as it should be.
Get the meaning?
I'm 15 though, so I'm thinking I'm an exception. I've read all books at least twice exluding the first two books.

I've never been good at that glass filled with water thing; but, I see your point Clouded. I also agree that most H/Hr shippers are older and more experienced. I might be an exception to that, too, seeing how I'm only a year younger than you and have yet to experience anything. (High school with fix that easily, that's for sure)
I think mature has several meanings. I probably should have said which one. Some people have a maturity beyond their years. In other words, they think through things such as an adult would. An example would be none other than Hermione. Throughout the series, she alway seemed to me more of an adult leading Harry and Ron the right way.
Quick off topic: Smashing, everyone's ahead of me in rereading the series. I've only read the books once. (I've read SS/PS twice) I'm only now just rereading POA again (third time through) and certain parts of OOTP and HBP.
Funny as it is, it only took me one read through of books 1-5 to know that Harmony was my ship. Quite brilliant how that worked out in the end.

Instead of taking one glance and declaring something, we take a closer look and consider different ideas. 3nodding ((By the way- I'm an exception as well...15.))

looking into the deeper maning of the relationships in the books are all it is... and you have to re-read the books to do that.

Personally I know quite a few teenagers that believe in the ship. I being one of them. It just has to do with your experiences in certain situations and how you see things.

If you see some failed relationships and some successful ones and you realize why there that...you come to realize that A) the fighting like an old married couple ship doesn't work B) Friend with Friend younger (or older for that matter) sister doesn't work and C) a sucessful relationship depends on two people bringing the same amount of work to make it successful.

His and Her Circumstances Well....13 is not really old is it Thirteen isn't old, but if you ship H/Hr, I'd say that you have a good perspective on relationships! 3nodding I mean, ahem... ninja Just my opinion, anyway....

I really don't think age makes a difference in the ship, I used to support H/G because I just felt R/Hr was so obvious, but after reading through again (oh yeah I want to point out I'm 24 so I guess that makes me one of the old people!) I just fell in love with the idea of H/Hr more, its hard to explain, I won't be furious if Harry and Ginny wind up together, because really it's not my decision to make it's JKR's but, the more I look at R/Hr the more I think, they should have gotten over the immiture bickering by now and it seems they've gone past the point of having a relationship and are stuck in the 'friend zone' because not only did they never get to it, but they were akward and stupid about it. the relationshop Harry and Hermione have together at this point in the series, however, they already have love for each other, regardless of if it is friendship love or whatever, it is still a love that is there, and I think it has the oppertunity to grow, where as a relationship with Ginny, who used to have a stupid school girl crush on Harry I really don't see as something that could be deep or meaningful, the way a relationship with Hermione could.
(sorry if I sort of babbled, I'm a little tired.)

Ginny is going to realize that Harry's a nice guy but it was just a crush after all. Hermione does have a love for Harry. I mean just look at the third book, she was willing to give her life to make sure Harry stayed alive. I dont know what's going to happen but I really think Hermione will end up fighting the final battle with Harry side by side. It makes sense to me but what doesnt make sense is why Hermione would go with ron it's too much of an opposite I think. Opposites attract to a certain extent and they have just gone out of that extent.

Opposites attract to a certain extent and they have just gone out of that extent. Hermione and Ron could have worked I think, if the sixth book didn't happen. but it did, and the mess between them now is too much, maybe I just remember what I expierenced through high school and stuff, but even if Hermione did have feelings for Ron, after him dating Lavender, and after so much fighting and bickering between them, they just wouldn't make it at all as a couple is my personal opnion of their whole situation. its just past that point. I also think that if Hermione had feelings for Ron I believe she would have said something she is the type of girl who speaks her mind, she never doesnt say what she wants to say so its a bit rediculous that she wouldn't say she had feelings for Ron, or developed them. I think she doesn't fully understand her feelings for Harry yet, or doesn't recognize them because she is overly frustrated with Ron all the time, which is why she hasn't said something to Harry yet.

I don't really think age matters because I'm 12 and I love this ship and my friend is the same age and she's completely obsessed with it.I think that if you ship H/Hr than you have a more mature understanding and or viewing of the series and I'd have to agree you need to look deeper into something than just glancing at it and then declaring it.
