sweatdrop No idea what caused me to write this. Oh well... >>; Red is new shiz. Fear it.
Species Name: Doppelganger
Age Range: They usually don’t last very long; they're usually destroyed one way or another within a decade or so.
Appearance: Varies depending on who they’re supposed to mimic. (( The only living one in the story is Dark Erin; the rest are dormant. )) The original clay-form is that of a grey humanoid, with dark grey markings. They have no mouths or noses, and only small holes for ears. There are two types--male form and female form. They have no hands, only hand-like claws.
Personality: Although it varies slightly, they're vicious, and usually don’t care if pursuing the person they’re designed after gets them shot full of holes, blown up, thrown off a cliff, or some other nasty end. If they can be described as even having personalities, that is.
History: The modern Doppelgangers came into being through some twisted magic-working on Asp’s part. They were originally just a bunch of mini-Golem that were wandering around—in other words, mindless little workers. Then Asp started his twisted experiments with them—first by making them change into the image of the first person they see, then by shoving the souls of the mad/Damned into their bodies.
They became Asp’s assassins, specializing in killing without a mark. When this first happened, people went on a rampage to find out who was responsible. The found the Doppelgangers and proceeded to kill as many of them as possible. They only missed about four, but that was all Asp needed to make more. There are only a few even during the time of the story, but that’s enough to continue to create quite a bit of chaos. This is now invalid. They were warped by the near-constant flow of death energy around them, taking the forms of those they had a scrap of clothing or lock of hair from. Asp and several unscrupulous mages experimented in various ways to make this talent useful. The mages were all slain within moments of activating the doppelganger, because they used themselves as the recipent. Asp used his enemies, and found out that they made a very efficent weapon, until everyone else realized that copper and copper alloys are very good at stopping them. Whether or not you manage to hit them with it before they kill you is up to your listening skills. They stalk people, after all.
Random other stuff: They can’t sleep, and they only eat souls and the life force of their victims. They do this by touching the person they are going to kill. Don’t ask how it works. A WIZARD DID IT! They accomplish this by shredding the soul into fragments of energy/personality. This does not help the near insatible urge to kill. They are also mute, and can't feel much of anything beyond hate, pain, and hunger.
Tortures: They’re more torturers then torturees.

They sound pretty f'awesome.
The only part that sounds iffy is the way they eat souls ... but you told me not to ask how it works so I won't. >_>

I'm still working on that. However--And I can't believe I forgot to put this in sweatdrop --It takes a while for them to completely eat a soul. They only do so if they have the time, and since it takes about two to three minutes for them to kill somebody, and it's rather painful for the victim and loud, they usually don't get the chance.

DUDE. I so want a doppleganger assassin now. And if I were online more often than once a week, I'd be more than happy to at least try and help you figure out the whole 'eating souls' thing. But... alas *sigh*
