Aurora walked down the sidewalk, laughing outloud at something her friend said on the phone. Cell phones, what a marvelous invention, she thought, strolling calmly down her street. The young woman could just about see her house, when she stopped suddenly, frowning at what the woman said on the other end of the phone.

"I do not talk funny," Aurora pouted, moving on from her momentary pause. Rolling her eyes, she hardly listened to what her friend was saying. "Its probably your phone because I am talking exactly the same way I have been for the many years you've known me."

She moved the phone between her shoulder and ear, using both hands to take her mail from the box. Her protests to her friend trailed off as she noticed a small piece of parchment flutter from the stack of mail in her hand to the sidewalk. "I'll call you back," Aurora muttered, snapping the phone shut and off. Forehead wrinkled in confusion, the woman bent down to carefully lift the paper from the ground.

"An account?" She asked herself outloud, reading the paper over a few more times in case she missed something. "I could count the times I've walked down Old Gambino Drive on one hand, and I know I've never stopped in anywhere..." Aurora stood in front of her house, debating whether or not to persue this mysterious account. Reaching a decision, her thin lips curved into a grin. "Well, worst comes to worse, I tell them they have the wrong person." Hastily tucking the mail inside her house, Aurora Anthony set off for Old Gambino Drive....

Bringing her standing directly before an odd building. Taking a deep breath to restore her confidence, the young woman strode boldly into the bank, the parchment clutched firmly in her hand. Without wasting a moment to look around, Aurora waved the paper and called, "I'm here about my account...?"

"Ms. Aurora Anothy, welcome!"

Prosper Reed, a young English gentleman had been sitting on one of the couches in the corner near the entrance. The coffee table was scattered with papers and folders. His reading glasses laid discarded on top of the papers.

Picking up his blazer that had been laid on the seat next to him, he buttoned the top button and held out his head.

"Please excuse my appearance, but I am Prosper Reed manager of this fine establisment, Past Legacies Corporation."

Jumping slightly, Aurora's eyes widened in shock; she didn't see the man sitting there, and the fact he knew her name before she managed to introduce herself put her off. Recovering quickly, she shook the offered hand.

"It's nice to meet you," she smiled politely, trying to hide her confusion and fright beneath a smile, "I don't mean to sound rude but... what exactly does the Past Legacies Corporation specialize in?"

Adding privately to herself, Aurora thought, "Besides sending uninformative papers to people, and scaring them half out of their mind." Her small mental comment managed to bring out a genuine smile.

Giving the young woman an easy smile and went back to where the couch was. Signaling the young woman to take a seat.

"We are a bank and specialize in safety deposit boxes. But we cater to very special families and to their family heirlooms. You Ms. Anthony are one of them." He gave her a mysterious smile as he emphasized on her name.

"I am rather sorry that our message scared you. It is only an Account tag. No more, no less."

He watched her for a second, "Now do you have any questions? If not we'll begin the process of accessing your Account."

Aurora followed Prosper, and graciously took the seat on the couch. She nodded as she listened carefully to what Mr. Reed was saying. Family heirlooms? Who in her family had left her something? And... why was she just hearing of it now? She was sure no one related to her had died recently. Her concentration was pulled from her thoughts as Aurora caught the smile the man gave her. A chill shot through her spine, and it took all her control to keep the polite smile.

"Don't worry, it wasn't the message that scared me..." She took a breath, but chose not continue with the question forming on her tongue. Just how did he know her name? Even if a family member had anticipated her coming, how had he known exactly who she was?

Shaking her head at his question, Aurora grinned, "I would love to see what I was left."

"Wonderful!" Prosper exclaimed as he clapped his hands and got up.

He led her to the back of the room where a young woman was. "This is Veronica Cash. If you could please hand over your tag to her then she shall give you the Key to your Account." Then adding as an after thought, "Please remember all the information on the tag. You will be needing it."

Aurora jumped up from the couch to follow him. Prosper Reed was surely an odd character...

Nodding in greeting and muttering a quick hello to Veronica, Aurora quickly bent her head to the parchment and scanned her eyes over the three lines. Loving her quick memory, the woman grinned as she handed the tag to Ms. Cash. Everything on that parchment was safely in her head, not to be soon forgotton. "Shall we?" She asked, her nervousness slowly fading away visibly, but inside her stomach was a mess of butterflies.

Veronica took the tag. In a few minutes she produced a small metal box. it was plain with nothing much to be seen other than the word Anubis engraved on the top of it.

The young woman settled the box on the counter and turned it to face Auoroa then opened it.

"Here is your Key, Ms. Anthony."

Her eyes ran over the plain metal box, anxiously awaiting to see what was inside. The ingraving was odd, seemingly misplaced on such a plain box, but Aurora recognised the name from the paper she had just traded.

Aurora couldn't help but gape at the beautiful golden key. The simple yet elegant handiwork astounded her. Carefully, as if it might break at any moment, she reached in a slender hand and lifted the key from the box. "This is my key? A real working key?" It looked too beautiful to have to be inserted into anything, and Aurora sure said so, "Are you sure it will work? It seems like it belongs in a museum..." She raised a thin eyebrow as she examined the key closer.

"Yes Ms. Anthony."

"It works well enough for the lock it was designed for."

Both Prosper and Veronica answered in unison. Veronica gave a small smile and stepped back to her work place, to file the necessary paper work and to give the Owner some privacy with the company manager.

"Now Ms. Anthony, if you would please follow me."

The English young man led the woman over where a security guard stood. With a nod, the guard moved and opened the door and Prosper proceeded in, making sure the young woman followed him.

The room was barren, or appeared to be. It was made of metal. There was a wooden table in the middle of the room with a single accompanying chair. On the further end of the room was a conveyer belt with a potruding mechanical arm and a touch pad.

"You'll have all the time you want here. You'll need to punch in the necessary information of Account Codename and Account Number." He paused then added, "There is an alarm system. It will go off if you have inputted incorrect information and then you shall be arrested. Once you have opened your safety deposit box and are ready to come out then please knock on the three times and I will come to greet you."

With that said, Prosper walked out of the safe room, closing the door behind him.

Still slightly skeptical abou the golden key, Aurora followed Prosper to the room. The guard made her slightly nervous; it seemed as if they almost expected her to mess up the input information.

"I only get one try?" The woman asked out loud, turning to look at Prosper, but the door was closed. "Well, that's... comforting..." Looking around the room, she shrugged to herself. "I suppose I should just get to it."

Aurora walked calmly over to the touch pad. It asked for her account number. Easy enough, thought Aurora, almost laughing as she pressed the correct numbers on the pad. "Eight, six, oh, oh, one, two, two," She whispered under her breath, as she pressed enter. Half expecting that to be the end of the input information, Aurora narrowed her eyes in confusion as a new question popped up. "Password?" She asked herself.

Thinking back on the picture of the parchment she had in her mind, Aurora remembered what else was on the paper. "Account. That was entered. Key... That must be another name for password." Smiling at the golden key in her hand, her fingers pressed the letters. First an "a", then an "n", and so on and so forth until "ANUBIS" was displayed on the touch screen.

Glancing at the key, she said, "Well then, Anubis, lets hope I'm right." She pressed enter. The conveyer belt sprang to life with the sound of gears turning. Aurora grinned confidently, and laughed, "I am always right." Soon enough, a metal box similar to the one her key had been left in was deposited in front of her.

"Let's see what we have here," Aurora brought the box carefully over to the sole table and chair, placing it as gently as she could on the polished surface. The box was fastened shut by a lock with a small key hole. "Lets see if you could help again, Anubis," She smiled, but had a fleeting thought as to why she was talking to a key. Her heart rate increasing, Aurora shakily placed the key in the hole. Hand shaking slightly, heart beating quickly, she took a deep breath and says, "Here goes nothing." Aurora turned the key and heard a soft 'click'.

Lifting the metal box's top, her last remnant of understanding slipped away into udder confusion. "An...urn?" She questioned, delicately lifting the artifact from the box. "True a beautifully decorated urn, but still..." Sighing, Aurora thought of who might have left her such an odd heirloom. Deciding not to dwell on the past, but insted to get some answers, she carried the urn and key to the door, and with her free hand knocked once...twice... three times.

As the third knock faded, the guard opened it with a friendly smile. Ushering Aurora out of the vault room then giving her quick tip of his hat in congratulations before resuming his expressionless watch in front of the door.

Prosper stood only a few feet away with a leather journal in hand. Turning towards the entry way of the room, he gestured towards the couches and seats.

Taking a seat in an armchair, he began, "I would like to congratulate you on your successful access of your safety deposit box." Opening the leather bound notebook, he looked up at her with a kind expression, "We are not an ordinary bank. We cater to selective households and not because of their social standing or because of their wealth but because of their family history, your's being such a one.

"There is a certain magical element to our company. The Heirloom and Key that you have received contain souls. Souls of those relating to your ancestors. And they will one day manifest into something more than objects." He paused then gave her a straight and serious look, "Your Heirloom will become a child, a baby.

Prosper glance at a piece a paper in front of him, "A baby girl for that matter."

She managed a sheepish smile at the guard as they passed and entered another room. As she noticed Prosper, Aurora held up the urn and key a little higher with an odd expression on her face as if saying, 'Well... I did it.'

Sitting down in a chair across from the man, she smiled, "Thank you. I think..." Aurora listened carefully as he betgan to explain the specifics of the Past Legacies Corp. After that shocking discovery in the retrieval room, she doubted anything else could cause her more confusion.

She was wrong.

Aurora stared at him for a moment, almost waiting for the smile and a 'We got you!', but neither came. "You're serious?" Glancing down at the urn, it seemed to take on a whole new appearance, as if she were seeing it for the first time. Aurora held the urn a bit more carefully, yet she was feeling rather frightened. And confused, don't forget confused.

"A baby girl?" She stared at the artifact in her hand, trying to see how something so solid and lifeless could manifest into a living, breathing child. "How exactly does that work?" Shaking her head, Aurora added, "Nevermind, I don't think I want to know."

Prosper gave Aurora a mysterious smile, "As I said, magic." Then he opened the leather bound notebook and began again, "Now this is your Account Record. You'll be required to record anything and everything that happens to your Account or yourself in which it may affect the Account. It is also of magical content and so I shall be able observe your progress from here. I will even be able to leave you notes and messages when necessary. I do not expect this to be used as an Instant Message system between you and the administration.

"Now there is only one thing to do. Which is to fill out the certificate and then I shall be contacting you on when it is time for the soul of your family legacy to manifest."

Taking a pen in hand Prosper looked towards the woman, "What name would you like to give your Legacy? The Key already has a name so you shall not have to worry about that."

Pausing, the young manger added as an after thought, "I should warn you that the Key will be manifesting itself into a creature. Of what nature? I'm not sure."
