It's good to be here^^ Now before I start sounding like a talk show, I'll introduce myself! In a nutshell, I'm a seventeen year old female sabre fencer from Arizona. Unranked sadly lol, but I'm working on that one! I started out fencing epee and I've never fenced foil. I've been fencing for about.. five years. Wow. Time flies^^;; Anyways, I hope I posted this in the right place and that I'll meet some more fencers^^ Thankies for inviting me!

Hey hey. I'll introduce me as well.

My name is Anna and I live in Sweden I'm 15 years old. Been fencing for about 5 years now
But the last year I have not been so active. Mostly because my trainer got pregnied (sp?) and got a kid and all. But after that I havn't really started again. There are also no one that is as good as me in my age.
Well I decided to start again, and then broke my foot. xd Good timing. But I'll start to the fall.

Well I began with fencing foil when I was around 9-10, not sure. Love and loved it. Foil is the most fun then after, I think 2-3 years I also started fencing epee. But I still like the foil the best, it's easier to hold. I think the epee is a little too heavy.
I'm not fond of contests But my trainer thinks I should be in them. xp

Well other than fencing I like Buffy tVS, Harry Potter and ice cream 3nodding .
Also I like reading, sailing, and just hang out with my friends.

Since I have now writtten alot of nonsense about myself, I will now stop. xd (sorry)

Wow.... I'm glad there is finaly a guild about fencing... SO COOL! whee

Anyway, I got into fencing during my senior year of high school, thanks to a Sophomore (or was he a junior?) nick-named Mad Max, who had been doing it for several years. I got into it for a few months, but the school club fell through when there wasn't much interest shown by the students. Luckily, there was a Fencing class, and that kept my spirits up... I swear to god I would have won the Tourny if that guy had not hit my neck.

The fencing class had a tourny on the last day, and everyone was really good (fast learners, and some REALLY enjoyed it, even though the teacher kinda sucked and leaned on me most of the time) And during my 3rd bout, I get smacked in the neck--right on my thyroid gland. I go down, coughing, hacking, and all other fights stops because of human curiosity. The nurse is called, I am forced to forfit all my following matches while I wait in her office for my mom to call back. I COULD HAVE ONE THAT!!!! DAMN THIS BODY AND ITS WEAKNESSES!!!!!!!!!

Now that I am out of highschool and moved away, I am having a hard time finding any place that does fencing. A friend of mine informed me that there is a fencing studio next to a gun range she frequented down in Orlando, Florida, but I'm no where near there. crying

That is my life story... I'm mainly a Foil fencer, but I have held ephee and sabre... didn't like the feel. I'm a kid, I'll stick with foil. ^.^

I'm 18, grew up in Minnesota, currently living in Arkansas. Third child of a divorced family. Writer, RP'er, and cook (when i feel like it).

Hey all!! I'm glad to see some posts allready. whee

I'm a 20yr old Sabeurist from Cali. I've competed in a few tournaments with my fellow fencers from UC Santa Cruz. We don't really have a good coach so the odds are pretty much stacked against us... (we got cheated out of a tournament in Arizona, the judge didn't know how to tell right of way. Bent arms don't give you squat)

I am a USFA member, but haven't been able to compete much in sanctioned tournaments because I had mono at the beginning of this past school year. That basically means I'm out of shape now and have to get my lazy butt back into it. (I need to lose like 25 pounds, I'm so irritated but too lazy gonk )

I have enjoyed swords since I was 4ish, and I wish I could have started fencing around 7 or 8 but it wasn't possible as there were no fencing institutions where I grew up. (and my parents never noticed my unique love of swords stare I'm not bitter... really.) Anyway, I will fence any weapon, though I'm not very good at foil. xd I love epee, but my true passion is Sabre. It is fast, very fast, which I love. The pure adrenaline alone is enough for me to want to fence till I'm 95. That's my dream, build a fencing institution and be fencing till I'm 95 to die in a tragic fencing accident. (Hopefully not in front of the kiddies.)

Hmm... Other sports I enjoy --> Paintball, again for the adrenaline rush and snowboarding. Snowboarding is awesome because I am much better at it than skateboarding xd and it is allways so beautiful on the mountaintops.

*cough* So I think I've said enough now... Glad to see the responsed and I hope many more come. Don't be afraid to recruit as many other fencers you can find on Gaia, seriously. wink

Hi! guess I'll introduce myself too.
I'm 17, and a foil fencer from VA. I've only been fencing for about a year, but I really enjoy it. I got into it becaiuse my friends dragged me into it, and I ended up loving it! I'm on my highschool team, Green Ronin (which isn't really attached to the school, because they won't let us have a club involving weapons scream ) but I think we're pretty good.(We're ranked pretty high in the state, and we've beat college teams!)

I'm not USFA registered, but I'm getting there. Almost all of my friends fence, and we all love it. Um...hmm....the only achievemnt I have in that is coming in third in our dry fencing tournament. Made me pretty happy!

My other hobbies are art, writing, swimming and horseback riding, and I'm into sci-fi, anime, werewolves, BtVS, Final Fantasy, and dragons.

Wow I feel small and insignificant versus all you pros.

I'm 16 and I fenced my freshman year of highschool, unfortunately I've lost my freetime for the most part and I stopped last year, I hope this year to get back in to the fencing club.

I foil fence, but I love Epee, Foil fencing is so... blegh compared. I live in california in the mojave desert so normally while fencing its about 100 degrees plus whatever you wanna add due to the mask, jacket and such.

I feel like I'm dying but I'm so excited about fencing when I'm doing it that it doesnt matter how much I'm sweating.

sweatdrop

my other interests are vegetarianism, drawing, hippies and peace, and my current obsession is Harry Potter ^^

I also enjoy Wakeboarding, Snowboarding, Surfing, Boogie Boarding, Skim boarding, Water skiiing, playing football and Tennis.

Wow.

I've got my own foil. lol and I still need to buy the rest of my gear.

Anyway my sexy boyfriend introduced me to fencing, we both played the game Soul Calibur II where there's Raphael the fency type guy, and I used to watch him fence and draw pictures, my god he was hot ^^

Then I decided that I wanted to fence so I could watch him more lol.

>.< Unfortunately, some of our directors are bad like that. Ah, I'm embaressed lol.

I haven't been fencing much this last year(AP History, erk), but I started up again a month or so ago. Once you start, it's hard to forget^^ I, as well, need to get back into shape. My stamina went out the window.. Our clubs kinda small in the sabre area, but some foil fencers switched over recently lol.

xd Our Sabre team is pretty small here as well... but we do pretty well for not having a coach. The one thing about fencing is that it gives people nice legs. That's the only feature of my body I'm happy with right now...

*goes to work on that six pack* xp

gonk Too lazy...

I'm 15 and from Puerto Rico. That tropical island in the Caribbean. No, it's not in Africa, Hawaii, South America. It's an island a little under Florida. (You'd be surprised where some people place Puerto Rico! ^_^;; )

I'm a foil fencer, and I've been fencing since August. >_> I'm not that good, but I went to Nationals (of Puerto Rico) and I got between 5th and 8th place. (I could have done better! D: )

._.;; I'm feeling a little deprived, because I haven't fenced for 2 months already. I left the day after competitions, and I know I'm rusty! I left for two summer programs, NSLC and a summer program in Columbia University.

I've got a couple of friends in fencing, and they're all about a year or so ahead of me. XD I'll catch up! (Two of them are in Cornell at a fencing camp actually. Lucky them! XD)

My other hobbies include anime/manga, art, writting, video games, reading (Yes, books too! xP ) aaaaaand just acting silly!

I'm 21 and currently studying in the Philippines. But I was born and raised on a Pacific island called Guam. And believe it or not, that is where I got my first taste of fencing, in my second year of college. The instructor was only teaching foil, but let me tell you, I LOVED that class. Unfortunately, since fencing is not a very well known sport there, there was virtually no outlet for it outside that class. sad

Here in the Philippines, however, I was delighted to find that my school has a team! 4laugh I joined them in my first term at the school, still a beginner, so I was mostly just practicing basic footwork and all. My stamina isn't all that, but I swear I'll get there. sweatdrop I'm not so lucky this term, though...my classes coincide with their regular practice meets, so I haven't been into fencing for a while. And I'm getting even more out of shape... gonk I hope I can tweak my schedule next term so that I can have the free time to join them again. It's back to the start for me, though, as I have not been able to exercise what I've learned so far. sweatdrop

Yup, I'll be starting with foil, but I hope to learn all three styles. Sabre looks most interesting to me. ^_^

Ah, aside from fencing, I totally LOVE videogames. I mostly delve into the RPG genre, but I like platformers to an extent---mostly Sonic. Heck, I aspire to become a game designer, and my choice of major reflects that---Multimedia Arts. I'm currently studying at the De La Salle University - College of St. Benilde in the Philippines. Hoo...I also can't wait until I get to the PE class where I can try Eskrima (otherwise known as Arnis, which is Filipino Kali stick fighting).

Hey it's nice to meet ya all, well I should say someththing to introduce myself.

I'm a male fencer I'm about to turn 17 and I'm a sabrist, I'm from Baja California, Mexico and I've been fencing for about two years now. I' might not be a great fencer but heck I do love the sport...so I always try to give it my best shot. It's all in my mind I must focus so I can kick a**

I've never fenced anything but sabre but if I were to choose between fencing foil or epee I'm more inclined to fence epee, I dunno why but I prefer epee over foil. Ummm right now I've got a really low stamina so I'm just trying to shape up before any competition starts. ya right in mexico

Umm besides fencing I must say that I love video-games mostly Rpg's adventure very few shooters, fighting games and also ol' skool...ahh I'll never get tired of megaman and punch-out, anime and manga, books of course swords and knives...I've always loved cutting weaponry that's probably the main reason I love fencing too. soo I gues that's kinda most of it blaugh . pirate yarr pirates rule

I'm so glad that there is a guild for fencing! wink

I'm 18 and live in the Netherlands. The fencing club where I train is called Courage and we are taught by our maƮtre Leo. I've been fencing for about three years, two years foil and one year sabre.

My father used to be a sabre fencer in his college years but he had to quit because of his work. About four years ago my uncle, a epee fencer, about Courage and my father joined. Soon I did too just as my older brother who joined about a year ago.

I've won a couple of prizes with foil(mostly Dutch or Belgium tournaments) and even became 9th place in a international NATO/OTAN tournament. But that was because of the direct-elimination part so I should have ended lower, I was just lucky with my opponent.
I haven't won any prizes with sabre, mainly because I didn't entered any sabre tournaments yet sweatdrop I'm too old to enter the junior and too young for the veteran tournaments. I'm already able to defeat my brother and my father but it will take a lot more years before I can defeat my sabre teacher, he has won so many tournaments.

In my spare time I enjoy looking at my sword collection, drawing, reading and making swords on my computer

Do you go to VAF, by any chance? ninja

I started about two years ago, fenced for a year before I had to go off to college, and have not been able to get back into it since then. I was told we had a school fencing club, but it never happened crying And now my elbow and knee are injured, so I have to stay off the strip for the time being.

All I've done is foil, and I don't have a ranking or anything because I'm still fairly new at it and I'm not confident enough to enter any tournaments yet. Right now, I plan on sticking with foil, though, although I would love to learn kendo.

FYI I'm cool with fencing of all types, not just the European styles (refer ANYONE who engages in swordplay to this guild). I actually mess around with bokkens and shinais myself to get my mind off of the strict linear styles of fighting I'm accustomed to. I even have a pair of my friend's sais ninja which... keep ending up at my house... idk wether she is trying to give them to me or she just keeps forgetting that they are here... xd
