Discuss this lovely arc here.
The second story arc involves Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio springing Killua from his parents' mansion. At the end of the second story arc, Leorio leaves for medical school and becomes a professional doctor while Kurapika leaves to find work as a Hostess, taking both characters out of the story. In the third story arc, Gon and Killua go to the Heavens Tower, a 251-floor building where people can compete in fighting tournaments around the clock for cash. It is here they meet the Kungfu master Wing, who teaches them about Nen, a chi-like energy that can be used to manifest superhuman powers. He was currently teaching a young child called Zushi. They fight in the tournament to gain money and experience. Hisoka defeats another powerful Nen user, Kastro, who was able to create and use a double made from nen. Hisoka loses both arms in the battle but Machi, a fellow Nen user, uses her Nen ability to sew them back on. Gon battles Hisoka and is able to land a few hits, but loses in the end.
Woosh gotta' love wiki.

Heh. I liked both of these story arcs. Both the manga and anime versions.
And I'd have to say out of any other story arc, these two seem to be the best places for side-stories to take place. Oh, the wonderful things that could happen when dealing with psycho parents and fighting off brainless macho men. x33

Or my sister would say: Umpires wearing something not revealing

I haven't read completely the Zaoldyeck part, but I will one day. lol

Well, it shouldn't be too hard to get through it. It's probably the shortest story arc of them all. Although it's a very good for meeting interesting characters.
I truly can't even imagine how much fun Togashi-sensei must have had developing all of the Zoldyck crazies. ^^

I'm still stuck in this arc. whee I'm at the part where Kurapika-san just defeated one of the Spider phantom troupe. (Yes, I read the english dub manga.) I do love it though. It's very interesting, and you never know what will happen. I sure hope Gon, Leorio, and Killua get the Greed Island game at the Auction!

i found the Zaoldyeck family arc to be one of the more entertaining storylines... even if it was short. It really did teach you quite a bit of Killua's life was like when he was stuck at home. i too wish they would have elaborated on Karuto's elder brother Aruka... hopefully before he completes the manga he will introduce him in the series. I have a feeling he will be something like Illumi, Killua, and karuto... which I believe can be a very dealdt and sinister combination... but that's just me. As for the celestial Tower arc... i like it because it reminds me of a good old fashion tournament with some twists. Togashi Sensei did a good thing by putting that in there... We got to learn about Gon, killua, and hisoka's different abilities... and we met Wing Sensei and Zushi... though I will tell you now that, "Osu!" got on my last nerve... i would twitch every time I heard it said.

Aww. I thought it was so cute when they did that. x3 It showed how impressionable and naiive Gon and Killua still are. They may be out on their own, but they're still young. They're just kids, having fun, playing around, osu-ing people... x3
As for Alluka, I think you're probably right. Although I think he'd lean the closest to Illumi. Emotionless, cold-blooded, rather creepy ... at least on the outside. But that feeling is pure speculation; it's not based on anything concrete. The fact that you never see him just makes me think along those lines.

i know that osu was cute at first... but then it became too much for me to endure... it's maddening i tell you... maddening... Okay.... now... aruka... I agree that he will likely lean more toward illumi... it's just that... they never show him... He is what people call the forgotten Zaoldyeck... and my speculation is that he might be hidden away from the world because they are putting him through vicious training... That way when he shows up he will be the ultimate assassin... That... or maybe he was different.... so pacifistic that he loves butterflies and daisies and they were ashamed of him... i don't think that's it though.

I'm with the training theory, but perhaps not to be the "ultimate assassin" or anything. Alluka should be younger than Killua, and they've also never shown the grandmother so...
I think he may be going through the same training the others have gone through, supervised by her. Well, all the others have gone through except for Kalluto anyway.

that makes sense, but Karuto is already out working... i believe they showed him during the York shin arc sliding down something into the Genei Ryodan meeting place or something like that... I wouldn't Aruka be allowed to fight as well especially since since karuto is younger than him. It's too confusing... We should send a letter to Togashi Sensei and ask him about all that... but it's not likely he'll ever get it.

Neeehh. I've wanted to send a letter to him for the longest time. T.T I have so many questions.
By training course, I sort of meant like various things Killua has gone through such as randomly dropping him off at the Heaven's Arena (Celestial Tower) and training with darts (This is mentioned in the Chimera Ant story arc). x3 Sort of like a break from work to hone his skills. I'm sure even Killua hadn't finished his training when he left.

that's right... i forgot about that part... his father did drop him off at the Celestial Tower when he was younger... Perhaps that is the case. i wonder... karuto... he is eight or nine... am i correct?

I have no idea. All I can ever think when I try to figure out his age is, "He's too tall to be younger than Killua!" Especially with Alluka in between them. xP
