So I went out today to Best Buy, to buy an iPod. I asked the guy to get me a 20GB, nice and regular, and he pulls me into some damned talk about "Oh but blahblahblah and this on here has yaddayaddayadda." I forget what he said, exactly. I'm just assured it was a load of bullshit. After telling him over and over again that I just wanted the 20GB, he directs my attention to some Black and Red iPod. "What's so special about this one other than the colors that makes it worth $50 extra?", I ask him. He replies that on the back it's signed by the members of U2.

I bust out laughing, right then and there. I felt bad for the poor guy, because he had to peddle such wares. He then asked me if I wanted something for running or something compact. "What are you going on about?" He then directs my attention the the iPod Shuffle.

Again, I bust out laughing. 216MB of storage for $100? I don't think so. ): It doesn't even have a display screen, and it looks like you could break it like a blurdy fortune cookie, or a breadstick. I then go on and ask him how they sell these things. "Parents usually wander in unknowingly, and we convince them these are good products. That, or crazy fangirls, or people who just want to be 'hip'." I proceed to pat him on the back and say "I'm sure God will forgive you for your sins. My brother does tattooes, so I have somewhat of a way to relate."

I can't believe corporations actually get away with selling this s**t. *plays his PSP with 23 dead pixels* Have you ever come across something so assinine?

Oh, and here's a double whammy;

I was watching TV last night, around 9 'o clock. A commercial comes on advertising a product named "Bling It On". I almost pissed myself, due to what was said, and by who. XD If anyone knows what I'm talking about, yeah. I might get into trouble for saying exactly what I think about it.

Yeah. Discuss assinine corporate practices when it comes to sales and advertising. :O

OH MY ********! I've seen that commercial. I nearly pissed myself laughing at how stupid it is! I think my other comments about it might run along the same lines as yours.

On adult swim one night, one of their bumps was about voting what would replace the hour of popeye that was on at like 5am. There were 4 choices: the first 3 were anime, and the 4th was an hour of the "bling it on" commercial on repeat xd

Understandably so. Normally I don't have much discretion, no matter where I am, but that commercial is such a pool of a**l leakage that if I go any further into describing it's mass-suckage, I could get yelled at.

Immediately after that commercial, Zatch Bell came on. I felt like I wanted to cry. xd

The worst part was that I couldn't change the channel, because my baby cousing was watching TV.

That commercial came on like, three more times. sad

I've seen bling it on. Worse yet, I saw STORE MADE bags like that in Target. One being "Bling Bling" of course, and "See me on the dance floor" among others.

I try to shy away from being an early adopter of products, especially products like Ipod. My friend just had to return hers because it broke 4 months after getting it, without any severe abuse or mistreatment. She was thinking of selling the one it was exchanged for because it broke so quickly, which I had warned her about when she first purchased it. Let alone that everyone I know who has purchased one has had it break on them.

Sony products are notorious for doing that as well. The plastic drive tracks in the early PSX, The DVD drives in PS2, they all burn out within months. Let alone the square button and dead pixels of the PSP. It's not that I dislike the products, but I wish more effort was put into quality products.

I have standards, and I figure if I spend $300 I should be getting a product worth $300. Just like how I like the DS, but I've seen some of the touch pads go dead from usage.

It pisses me off to think that Apple puts so much effort into marketing that they disregard their own products. I know that new technology is disposable, but this is really disgusting. This things CAN be built to last, but they just aren't for the sake of cost effectiveness. It's business, but it's bad business that people will buy into. Simply because they don't think about it at all.

It's disgusting, I think. Or how much Sony is charging for their PSP memory sticks, which are pretty much a standard memory type. The flip up PS2, which is easily broken and won't handle the hard drive they had just released. Most all Apple products, which are a lot of glitz and glamour and not much substance. Let alone almost all brand name computers, a lot of companies try to make it so you have to buy new computers instead of upgrading the ones you own. Car companies, gah!

This is why I think I should become a businessman. I'd be the worst businessman ever, I'd make all my products last a decade and be completely honest in my marketing. I'd be horrible, but I'd be satisfied.

I'm glad I only watch TV about six hours a month. O_o

Anyway... the only asinine practices I've noticed as of late are the usual playing-with-pricetags at the grocery store. Y'know, bump up the price of buffalo one week, the next week "HUGE BUFFALO SALE!" sort of thing. Or, as I nearly fell prey to today, the 'fer' deals. Instead of "$2" they'll have a sign saying "2 for $4!"... and there was a "4 for $7!" deal on pop-tarts, and there were oodles of s'mores flavor in the display. eek

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go flog myself for my moment of pop-tart induced consumer whoredom. gonk

Yeah, I hate that too. But we all fall prey to pop tarts.

SHUT UP. THAT WAS AN EXCELLENT SALES PROCEDURE.

::hides her case and a half of Bling It On::

I think those ridiculous ringtone commercials are worse, though.

That's probably because 904809358 million people decided it was a good idea to copy them.

Every time I go into an electronics/computer store someone always tries to convince me to buy something I didn't come in for and is not related AT ALL.

About a month ago I came in looking for a USB cable to hook up my camera and someone tried to sell me a car stereo. FOR SERIOUS.

The "bling it on" commercial was so ridiculous, it was archived in the Ebaum's world website.

I saw it in real life.
It made me cry.
On the inside.

Oh yeah. Last time I went into an electronics store, I was going after a can-o-air and someone came after me with the inevitable cell-phone 'deal' - after asking how well that model fits up annoying assholes' assholes, I was able to buy my can-o-air in peace. 3nodding

Wolffy: I only got two boxes, instead of the full 4-fer 'deal'. xp
