Post your ghost stories here. Doesn't matter if they are ones you have experienced, heard about on TV, or something that would normally be told around a camp fire

When I was 14, I use to help my grandparents by watching their store when they had to get supplies. It wasn't a busy place, just a small country store they ran mostly to sell Grandma's baking, but it also had basic supplies and snacks as well as Grandpa's wall of fishing tackle and gear. This one time it wasn't particularily busy and I was working on some home work when I saw a shadow of a lady with a wide brimmed hat as she walked past the window behind me. I figured it was just someone looking for my grandparents and went to the stores side door to let her know that they were out, but would be back soon. But when I opened the door....there was no one.
Even if she had decided to run towards the house or back yard I still would have seen her. I looked around the store, just to be sure but had to give up my search for the mysterious woman with the wide hat when a car of customers pulled in.

Chrono Master Of Time Every few days i see a pale figure of my uncle in my liveing room then when igo to turn the lights on the next day the bulb is lose and i have to tighten it again to get it to light. He was always doing that when he was alive too. cool smile Too bad I can't introduse you to my Mom. She has a ghost/spirit guide that hangs around her that she calls "uncle Frank". We usually see him in the kitchen, but only when Mom is around. He is fairly tall and thin, has dark short cut hair, dark nicely trimmed moustash and wears a victorian style suit. There is also my parents' house guardian "Chief" who sits on the stairs in front of the main door. No one in the family has ever seen him. But we have had friends stop by while my family is away and they see him sitting there staring back at them. They get creaped out and leave. The next time they see us they ask us who the weird indian guy is. Do note my parents do not lock the front door, but we have never had anyone attempt to break into the house. However the barn had been raided on a couple of occasions.

-The Night Rambler-
It was a dark scary night. I was with a few friends and we would tell GHOST STORIES similar to this.
Then ONE night we all decided to sleep out side on the trampeling togeather under the starry night. And one of my friends foolishly told a story about my past...
Yeah it was funny. AT THE TIME. but I blacked out. the next morning I awoke inside the house and so were my friends. and when we all went to feed the animals she had. Almost Every animal she owned was mauled to death with bite marks one them.
There were chickens with their head twisted all the way around. the stupid turky was still alive. but later we had to shot it dead cause he was missing a but. The goats were all bitten at the necks and the two dogs also laid motionless with bites on their necks.
I went back inside the house cause it was too much for me to bare, but when I went to go fold my sleeping back. there was blood all over it and then I ran to the bath room and looked in the mirror and notice that I had some feathers in my hair.
i quickly pulled them out and said I was going home. now I stay away from that house as much as possible. Cause it was my vampiric side that awaken after that story was told and I killed all those animals.
The end.

I use to have a Grey cat named Buffy. I am not going to go into detail as to how she passed on because it is very sad, and I was very, very upset when she died. All you need to know that she was my best bud, and that we use to have this routine where after she was done her night of mousing, she would pluck her claws on the bedroom window to wake me up and let me know she was ready to come in. Then we would watch the sun rise for a bit before going to bed.
Because of the circumstances around Buffy's death I blamed my Mom for not listening to me and letting it happen and I refused to talk to her. But I was also devistated that no one around me seemed to understand my special relationship with my cat and kept telling me "it's just a cat. Get over it" That hurt almost as much as loosing her.
Anyway it was about 3 days after she had passed away. I was sleeping when I was woken by what sounded like someone playing a harp that was in despirate need of a tune up. Half asleep I got up and moved the curtain enough to peek outside. The sun was only moments away from rising above the horizon, but there was just enough light to see the silhouette of a cat waiting on the window ledge. Not even thinking I indicated that I would meet her at the door, and as if she understood, the silhouette jumped off and by the time I had reached the door, Buffy, was waiting for me to let her in.
I opened the door, and she rubbed against my legs as she walked in then climbed up the stairs that lead to the main area of the house. While she paused to have a quick nibble and drink from her food bowls, I went into the living room and sat on the couch to watch the sun climb over the horizon. Buffy eventually, jumped up onto my lap and made herself comfortable. Her fur was so soft and I could hear and feel her purring. It felt good to know she was happy and this was what she wanted. As the sun came up Buffy's grey fur began to take on the colour of the sun's rays and her body faded with the light. Eventually, she was gone and I went back to bed. As I pulled the covers on me, I realized she hadn't followed, and that was when I clued in that she was gone, and that this had been the last goodbye.
Later on in the morning I heard my family out in the kitchen. I got up and gave my Mom a hug and told my family about the really cool dream I had. Although in my heart I knew that it hadn't been a dream.

Guess this isn't really a ghost story, but lets see what you think.
As a kid I use to like hanging out at this one particular corner of my parents property. It was on the far edge of the pond, I had 3 trees which offered shade, tall grass kept me hidden from the road and the house and it was beside the ditch that divided my parents property from the neighboring field. It was a great place to paint as there were all kinds of critters about. Occasionally, sounds from passing vehicals were heard, but the birds and frogs provided most of the sounds.
Anyway, this one day I was finishing up a painting of a female Redwing black bird that had been sitting on a branch not far from where I was sitting, when I heard someone calling my name. It sounded fairly close I assumed from the road or just the other end of the pond. So I looked around, but saw no one. Puzzled I slowly moved from my spot (didn't want to scare the bird) then eventually stood up for a better view. Once again I heard someone calling for me, but couldn't make out where the person was calling from. But this time, it sounded like it was my Mom. I knew she was in the house and figured she must have been calling from the kitchen window. So I ran up to the house to see what she wanted.
But when I came inside she was doing some baking while my sisters were playing in some left over flour. I asked her what she wanted and she said she didn't call me. My sisters were busy with what they were doing, and Dad wasn't home so it wasn't them either.
I went back to my spot very confused.
But that wasn't the only time that has happened, and I still have yet to figure out who the caller is. I know it is from somewhere on the property and close to the pond and my quiet place. I've called back to see if anyone responds back, but other than the trees and the critters there is never anyone else around. eek

I've got a cat one as well, ironically. My cat Gryffindor, or Griffy as we called him, (we were into harry optter at the time) was one of those more outdoors inclined animals. he'd hunt all day, stay out most of thenight. He was eventually killed in what we assume was a car accident. About a week or so after he died, I woke up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason, and saw him hanging frmo my ceiling, sitting as he normally did, only upside. I said his name and he moved a little, then I blinked and I no longer saw him. I'm convinced my cat was saying goodbye, because I never saw him after that. And I'm glad he did.

I lived in an old house about 10 years ago and it was an old farm house. The landlord gutted out the upstairs and he was going to fix up the house. So we just put a door up there so the kids that came to my house wouldn't go up there and to keep it warmer downstairs. It was a huge house. Every night we would hear someone or some thing walking across the floor in one of the bedrooms. Also my brother stayed with us and he has a cat named Binky. We put his cage under the huge front window and it moved on it's own from one side of the wall to the other without hitting the wall. Now that was some thing. I even tried to see if it could have moved on it's own for some reason and there is no way it moved by itself without some kind of help. So I do believe in the supernatural....

i have a story.
when i lived in California I lived in a three bedroom apartment with my mom and younger brother. one night i was staying up really late reading a book or something and i heard our downstairs bathroom door get pulled closed. it is not easy to close. i got up and looked in my moms room to see if she had gone downstairs for some reason and she was fast asleep. i checked on my brother and he was asleep as well. i thought maybe it was me being tired but i heard it so clearly i just can't believe it was all in my head. i have seen things in that apartment as well so until i left for texas i had a hard time sleeping with my door open. i had a cat named socks and she didnt seem spooked at all. i just can't explain it.

The neighborhood I grew up in, including my old elementary school, was built near and on top of an old cemetery (I don't recall if it was a normal cemetery or an old Indian burial ground, although I believe it was the former). Supposedly the stones themselves were moved, but not all of the bodies were. In any case, many of the neighbors have seen ghosts, and one had even gotten a picture. They had been taking pictures of their new house (when they first moved into the neighborhood) to send to family. When they had them developed, however, one had a ghost of a civil war soldier standing in front of the house (I've seen the picture). A ghost that both my sister and I (as well as several of the other kids in the neighborhood) have seen over the years is a little girl with long blonde hair in a light blue nightgown holding a brown teddy bear. She doesn't say anything, just stands there holding her little bear.
