Yamapi kind of took ofer the role of Johnny's 'Golden Boy' once Tackey debuted. He's one of the single stars of the JE realm, acting in tons of dramas and doing many seperate musical preformances.
Yamapi's old band, 4TOPS, were used quite often for Tackey and Tsubasa's background dancers. They were all very close, and Yamapi cried onstage at T&T's debut concert.
Tackey gave Yamapi the nickname 'YamaPi' because he was always wearing pink on stage. He combined the 'Yama' from Yamashita and the 'Pi' from pink. THe name has stuck ever since.
Of all the juniors, Yamapi was the one that Tackey hit on the most. Sneaking up on him and hugging him on stage, kissing his cheek, always mentoring him.
YamaPi is best friends with Akanishi Jin and Ikuta Toma of 4TOPS.
YamaPi can be very serious about work, and is still earning to loosen up in some situations, though when he does he has a delightfully wacky sense of humor.
He said that Akira in Nobuta wo Produce was the hardest role he'd played. It was so unlike himself, and he took it very seriously, but most of Akira's little goofy traits were totally improved on YamaPi's part.
YamaPi has one dog, named Pi-chan. It was named by Tackey.
