Band History Three Days Grace is a Canadian band formed in Norwood, Ontario in 1997. The band consists of members Adam Gontier (vocals and guitar), Brad Walst (bass), Neil Sanderson (drums), and Barry Stock (guitar). They originally formed as a quintet in 1992 under the name Groundswell; they changed their name to Three Days Grace and became a trio in 1997. The group moved from Norwood to Toronto and met producer Gavin Brown, formerly of the band Big Sugar. Brown helped produce their self-titled debut album, Three Days Grace, which was released in 2003; it reached the top ten of the Canadian albums chart, the top 100 of the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart, and number-one on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. Upon completion of the album the band recruited Stock to help on lead guitar to give Adam breathing room on stage and on tour. The album's hit lead single, "I Hate Everything About You", reached number-one in Canada and the top ten in the U.S. The second single "Just Like You", gave the group a second number-one in Canada. A third single, "Home", was also released. A fourth single, "Wake Up", was only released in Canada.
Brown won a Juno Award in 2004 (see Juno Awards of 2004) for his production on the album and his work on Try Honesty by the band Billy Talent. Three Days Grace was also nominated for best New Group Of The Year but lost to Billy Talent.
It was all over, the band became burnt out from exposure and torture on the road and they needed to just go home. Adam, Barry, Brad and Neil decide to jam it up in the cottage country. With Barry now on board in Three Days Grace, he was envolved in guitar for Adam to concentrate more on vocals. In the recording studio it all came together. On March 31, 2006, the band released their first single off of their album One-X entitled "Animal I Have Become." One-X was released on June 13, 2006, and landed at # 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200. In the record's first week, it sold over 78,000 copies, an outstanding achievement for the band. Three Days Grace is on tour with Nickelback and Hoobastank to promote the record. A second single, entitled Pain, is expected to hit the radio very soon and a video will follow up.
Adam Gontier Adam Wade Gontier is the lead singer of the Canadian rock band Three Days Grace.
Adam began playing in the band when he was 14. Adam and his other band mates are from Norwood, Ontario. The album's hit lead single, "(I Hate) Everything About You", reached number-one in Canada and in the U.S. The second single "Just Like You", gave the group a second number-one in Canada. A third single, "Home", reached #2 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock singles. Three Days Grace released a follow up album titled One-X on the 13th of June, 2006. The first single off of this album was "Animal I Have Become".
Neil Sanderson Neil Sanderson is the drummer of the Canadian rock band Three Days Grace.
Mr. Sanderson is a Peterborough, Ontario native. Mr. Sanderson and his band Three Days Grace have played many times at the Gordon Best Theatre and recently with Nickelback at the Peterborough Memorial Centre in Peterborough. He has also played music in many other cities, likely Toronto, and maybe a couple times in the United States.
He is also a noted philanthropist.
His first self titled album reached the Canadian Top Ten, the top 100 of the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart, and number-one on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart.
He is currently touring internationally spreading the message featured on his second album, One-X. The music on his second album features themes dealing with personal identity, effectively dealing with relationships, and also raises questions concerning the existence of fate on the track “Time of Dying” where the lead singer Adam Gontier suggests the possibility of choosing one’s own free will to overcome death.

I have yet to hear them live, but from what my friend said(who saw them open live for Rolling Stones in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada), they pretty much suck. I don't mind their previous hits of I Hate Everything About You, Just Like You, and Home, and I liked their two recent hits of Animal I've Become and Pain, I dislike the entirity of their album One-X, except the two songs I mentioned previous.
My reason for disliking One-X is that it seemed to sappy for me. They're an awesome band for the music but I don't like the lyrics or vocals overly. The lyrics themselves seem to "listen to me so I can make money." But then, that's merely my opinion. I'm not trying to bash anyone. I don't get drawn in by the lyrics, they repel me. Although I'm quite happy that the song Pain isn't "Emo." It's sort of the anti-"Emo."
