What is punk?

If you were to tell a complete idiot what punk means, what would you say? What does punk mean to you?

That is punk.
Sure,
maybe to you punk is about mohawks and moshing,
but when punk first hit the scene,
it was for the kids who had nothing better to do with their time,
kids who wanted more.
Not for people who want to be 'in'.

my opinion is that people should stop trying to define it because no one ever agrees and its way to diverse to be defined.

Punk means different things to different people. Ask different people what punk "is" and you'll be sure to get a wide range of answers. The only person whose opinion matters on what punk "is" is your own.

That's exactly why I am asking, I didn't expect to get one answer. What's everyone's personal meaning to it. What does punk mean to you, not as a whole.
