Buahaha. I'm feeling a little embarrassed, posting this. BUT WHAT THE HEY!
Let's do this. >DD This is an original story of mine... haven't updated in God knows when. ;DD
Euhhh... I dunno. Read and suggest! Whoo~ Anyway, this has a bit of swearing, but it's not too bad. A bit of a hint of ... intimate activities, but it's barely anything. Just a girl pulling a boy itno a bedroom. XDD ... Yeah. XDD
Gunslinger
“But if he found out that more than five hundred people were killed in the process of the mission, how the hell do you imagine he’d react?”
“They weren’t killed, kid. They were slaughtered. More than five hundred of them; it was a rough eight hundred.”
The tall and slim boy put down the glass he was holding and paused in the movement to comb his fingers through his blond and black hair. “Eight hundred! Eight hundred of one thousand men died in the simple task of –?”
“That’s right,” the man on the other side of the room replied coolly. His back was facing the boy while his dark eyes studied the street below through the window. He took one more puff from his cigar, then crushed the butt in the ashtray. His broad shoulders shook as he let out a small laugh. “Surely, this is anything but surprising? There have been worse killings than this before, Moore, as we are both very aware of. You don’t need reminding, do you?”
The boy stood silently in the dim room. The hand that was previously on his hip fell and his body stiffened. “No,” he finally answered quietly. He then took one last swig from his glass and, feeling the tension beginning to rise, made his way towards the door.
“You’re not going to forget about it. No one is. Stop trying to destroy the memory, kid.”
The boy stopped momentarily before exiting the room and bowed his head. “Yeah. Goodnight.”
-----------------
The hard soles of his shoes clicked against the cold, steel floor and echoed down the dark hallway as he made his way to his room.
Domino Moore. Some kid, he thought pathetically to himself. He thrust his hands into the pockets of his black suit-pants and tilted his head back to look at the ceiling. His blond-with-black hair fell to one side of his face and covered one of his jade-green eyes. At age seventeen, he had already been through what that of a thirty-five year old criminal mastermind might’ve gone through: Domino Moore was a Gunslinger.
“Hey, Moore!”
Domino turned to see a redhead sticking his head out of a door. “Greffen. What’d you want?” Domino replied, then continued to make his way down the corridor.
“You gotta second?” the redhead asked, closing the door behind him while clutching a towel around his waist and following hurriedly behind Domino to keep up with his quick strides. Oliver Greffen was Domino’s closest friend. Standing three inches taller than Domino, he was 6”2, and, like Domino, was slender, yet was more on the scrawny than muscular side.
Domino looked over his shoulder and smirked at the foolish display, similar to that of a lost puppy trying to hold on to an extremely large bone while running a race. “It’s after two A.M.”
“I know, but –” Oliver’s feet tangled with the end of his towel and he stumbled to the cold floor.
“Listen, dumbass. I’m tired; I’ve had a long day. I don’t have time for walks in the moonlight,” Domino sighed, backing up and helping his friend to his feet.
“Come on! Listen, I’m in this horrible situation. It’s Marcia,” Oliver wailed helplessly.
As if on cue, the door to Oliver’s room clicked and creaked open. A girl that looked to be about sixteen stepped out into the hallway and looked around. A thin blanket concealed her small body and her chestnut hair draped over her shoulders.
“There you are, Olive! Now why’d you have to up and leave like that?” Marcia asked, then glanced at Domino and waved enthusiastically.
Domino replied with a weak, half-hearted wave, then looked to Oliver, who looked like a deer caught in headlights. Domino understood instantly. Marcia Charr was an aggressive, yet clueless girl. She may be persuasive to her prey, but when it came to her being the victim, she was clueless and gave in. Perhaps this was the reason why she’d bedded so many men.
“You see, Domino, Olive and I were–”
“Marcia, listen,” Oliver struggled, “Domino and I were just about to head out and get some fresh air.”
“Oh, well, I wouldn’t want to interrupt your... er, well you two just go ahead, I’m pretty worn out anyways.”
Marcia cocked her head, looking innocently sweet. “Are you sure, Domino? I just know how much Olive likes to spend time with you, I wouldn’t want to ruin that.”
Oliver nodded his head vigorously and gave Domino a pleading look.
“Hey, no problem. I’ll see him tomorrow morning anyway."
Marcia giggled, ran to Oliver and took hold of his hand to lead him back to the room.
“b*****d,” Oliver mouthed at Domino, who smiled and continued down the corridor to his bedroom for a long awaited rest. Once he finally reached the door labeled 219 – Domino D. Moore, he reached into his suit pocket and pulled out his cardkey. In the warmth of his welcoming room, he fell onto his bed and closed his eyes. Only moments later did he wish it could have been as simple to fall asleep as it sounded. His body cursed him for getting up, but his mind kept racing back, it wouldn’t let him sleep. He removed his black dress suit and glanced about the silent room for a moment, wondering why he had chosen to dress the room in rose madder.
"Violent kid", he said dryly to himself. He pulled aside the curtains and gazed out the window, finally deciding to go out and try to relax on the balcony. He pulled on a pair of old, worn jeans that were fitted and sported holes in the knees. He then pulled on a casual band t-shirt, stepped into his worn, red All Stars, grabbed a bag that sat on the table and slid open the clear doors. At first, Domino struggled with the coolness of the night, but he adjusted. He leaned over the railing and gazed out at the city night’s lights. He reached into his bag and withdrew a small black revolver gun; this was the gun that had been through everything.
On his twelfth birthday, Domino has received a gift from an anonymous Gunslinger, telling him that on that same day, he would start his training to become one of them. He was told not to tell anyone, including his parents. They never found out; Domino never had the chance to tell them.
Domino had never given up on his simple black revolver. It was a 001 – probably an antique by now. And yet, it had never stopped working. As he studied it lovingly, he heard the familiar sound of a sliding door below him and the clicking of high heels against a balcony floor.
“Hey Domino. Couldn’t sleep again, I see,” noted the girl from the floor below.
Domino smiled at the black-haired girl. “Yeah, same with you?”
“Couldn’t keep my eyes closed for more than two seconds. You’ve still got that old antique crap?”
“Hell yeah,” Domino replied. “This baby and me go way back, Jay.”
“Maybe a little too far back.” The girl’s voice was struggling to keep the same happy tone.
Domino let out a slow sigh, keeping quiet for a moment before saying, “Yeah... Maybe.”
The silence between the two set in, and the only sounds were those from the few cars roaming the streets below.
“If you want to get rid of a memory,” the girl finally started again, “the first thing to do is destroy the evidence. You know that, don’t you, Domino?”
“Yeah, Jayde. I know that.”
“Hey, you wanna come down? I just got a new 2010 from Boss yesterday. You should come check it out,” Jayde said smoothly, killing any tension that might be left between them.
Domino pushed himself back from the railing and took another look at his revolver. He pursed his lips for a moment, then put his gun back into his bag and went to lean over to the railing again. “Yeah, sure. Give me a sec and I’ll be down, 'kay?”
“Sure, I’ll leave my door unlocked.”
Domino slung his bag over his shoulder and passed through his rose madder dressed bedroom and down the familiar corridors once more. As two-thirty reached its peak, the hallways were even darker and quieter than before – of course, this was to be expected. As he made his way down to the elevator, he was grateful that his sneakers were soft-soled, unlike his hard, black work shoes that went with his suave and expensive suit.
Domino and Jayde were good friends, as they had known each other for five years. Jayde had also received a gun from the anonymous Gunslinger; hers was a 002. However, unlike Domino, she had trashed the small revolver when she was offered a 3k – a much larger and more advanced and powerful gun than the 001 and 002 – and it was the same process with each new gun she received. Domino gladly accepted the new offers, but rarely used any of them.
Jayde and Domino didn’t get to see each other often, as they were usually separated into different missions because of their rankings. As a Gunslinger, there were seven stages.
Stage one was for Trainers. This was the stage when one first comes to train to become a Gunslinger. Usually between the ages of thirteen and fifteen did one begin their training, unless Boss sensed a special Gunslinger quality in you. For a rare few, that quality carried through; for most others, it was only a spur of the moment illusion.
The people in stage two were Passers. A Passer was someone who had made it through training. In the adjacent court, those who couldn’t complete their training courses were Failers – though many of the staff often resorted to calling them failures.
Once you reached stage three, you could begin to call yourself a reasonable up-and-coming Gunslinger. To be promoted from a Passer to a Normal, it usually took the average Gunslinger two or, for the late bloomers, three years – it took Domino Moore one year.
Stage four was for the Regulars. You needed to have made it through all of your missions and tasks without more than five mistakes; in stage five, you could make no more than three.
The fifth stage were those who began to make names for themselves as a Gunslinger, and were more trusted with secretive missions; thus given the name for fifth-stagers, the Trusted. As each individual Gunslinger rose to a higher ranking, their given missions grew even more secretive, skillful and risky. This was to expected, of course: being named a Gunslinger had great responsibility, and a binding contract of which no Gunslinger could escape without suffering.
In the sixth stage, you were titled an Honor. As an Honor Gunslinger, you were given missions that, if done successfully, entitled you as an honorable Gunslinger, thus titling the sixth stage.
The seventh and final stage marked you an Official. Originally, those in the final ranking were named an O.G, for Official Gunslinger. But everyone, even those in training, were already officially named a Gunslinger, and so it was changed. Few had made it to the seventh stage, and among those who had, selections had died throughout the dangerous tasks given. Even so, this was a Gunslinger’s job: take a name, take a gun, take a life.
Domino was at stage six, he was an Honor. Most Honors had begun stage six between the ages of twenty-one to twenty-five. Domino had easily surpassed these numbers: Domino Moore was unlike other Gunslingers.
Jayde was at stage five, she was a Trusted. She was a fair Gunslinger, but still among the average rankings, as was Oliver.
Domino reached the door labeled 164 – Jayde A. Young and raised his hand to knock, but before his curled fist could touch the steel door, Jayde was standing in the open doorway.
“Hey,” Domino started weakly.
Jayde stared at him for a moment, and then cracked a smile. “You really are tired,” she remarked as she studied his face. “Well come on, you shouldn’t need an invite by now. You’re no more of a guest than I am.”
Domino let the corner of his lips turn up in a small smile and followed Jayde into her room.
“Want some coffee?” Jayde asked, sliding her feet out of her heels and making her way to the small kitchen.
“No, I’m tired so I’ll just be going to sleep after this. I don’t want to keep myself awake. Thanks, though,” Domino replied and took a seat on the edge of Jayde’s bed.
“Point taken,” said Jayde, setting her mug down.
“How late did you get off?” Domino asked wearily, eyeing Jayde’s suit.
“Boss didn’t let me off until twelve thirty, then he said I should put some practice in with my 2010, so I’ve been out ‘til an half-an-hour ago.” Despite the late hour, Jayde showed no trace of drowsiness.
“You’re not tired at all?” Domino asked, rubbing an eye sleepily.
Jayde shrugged and pouted her lips a bit in thought. “Nah, not really.”
Domino made a sort of grunting noise. “You never sleep,” he remarked, resting his head in his hands.
“Have you been playing your violin lately? I’d like to hear something when you’re not busy,” said Jayde, dismissing Domino’s last comment as if he’d never said anything.
“It’s not healthy,” Domino started, lifting his head up in great effort, “to stay up so late every night, and then have yourself waking up at seven or earlier five days a week, sometimes more.”
“Listen, when you become a Gunslinger, you have to realize that you’re going to have to make some sacrifices.”
“I still think you should consider talking to Boss about it, sooner or later you’re just going to collapse on the job, and then who knows what would happen! You could get kidnapped, or the enemy could shoot – BAM,” he squinted one eye and shaped his hands into the form of a gun and mimicked shooting, “and that’s the end of you!”
“I’ve gotten used to it,” Jayde fired back. “I’ll be fine.”
“You’re always too busy thinking of what others want you to do, do something for yourself once in a while, won’t you? Damnit, Jayde, you’re too stubborn!”

And that's basically where I stopped, cause I lost interest in writing it after a while. Smeh. Maybe I'll update again sometime later... XDD!
