I started listening to Japanese pop and rock music recently and love both. My favorite bands are Dir en Grey, L'Arc~en~Ciel, High and Mighty color, and Malice Mizer.

dude, i LOVE J-rock and j-pop. i have a couple friends who live in japan and they got me started on it, and then i started listening to music from anime, which isn't the best, but it's better than nothing.

"But it's better than nothing" ? By the logic you are saying that isn't good. And yet you just said you "love" it. I'm lost by your post.
In any case, though I'm not a big fan of J-rock, I must say that it is an interesting genre to listen to. I have never heard a small asian man make noises like the singer of Antic Cafe has. Not to mention he makes me laugh when he dances.
Quick question though. Why is there so many crossdressers and transvestites in J-rock? Like every single band has at least one. Antic Cafe's; Bou, Malice Mizer's; Mana. all of them from the top of my head that I have seen. But I am still not very informative on the genre. So I may be very wrong on all of this.

J-rock better. But J-pop is ok in certain asspects, but sometimes it can be annoying.

It's not so much a question of which you like better, over which do you like period.
I have been listening to little things here and there from both genres and to be honest... the J-pop singers all sound the same to me. They posess the same tones and everything. All that is different is what they are saying. I do wish I could understand what they were saying

I got into J-Pop with the Kingdom Hearts series (go Utada!) but i don't really know any artists (just a couple). Then one day we were randomly searching on YouTube and found some J-Rock which is also good. biggrin
