January is the average height for a woman her age. She stands gracefully at 5'8'' and has a pale complection thanks to her reddish brown hair that reaches about mid thigh. Her eyes are a deep garnet color, frightening most, dazzling others. She has a light, and agile body that was made for speed and dodging.
Garnet is what January would be if she were a star. Glowing garnet eyes and deep garnet hair that reaches mid back is the norm. A garnet aura always surrounds her while in this form.
In both forms, the girl usually wears light garments that are easy to layer and form fitting. Her pants are always a bit wide in the leg, making it easier for her to conceal any weapons. Her pants are either black or khaki colored, but occasionally, she has jeans. Her shoes are always sensible for her activities, usually black skate shoes (Similar to vans) or sturdy, but comfortable boots.
Personality
January is a cool person by nature. She doesn't speak a lot unless she is particularly interested in something. It takes little time to get to know her. People find it hard to believe that someone so random can be a fighter, but she is fierce and often merciless.
Strengths
Garnet's powers allow January to move so fast she is difficult to see. This makes it incredibly difficult to hit her. She is so fast, that the force of her impact from the sheer speed makes up for her less than impressive muscle mass. She also gains the power to use her aura as a minor deflection for lesser attacks. She can also turn her energy inward to heal small injuries and stop bleeding.
Weaknesses
While Garnet may be fast, she is not very strong. Her endurance is incredible, but she is weak when mentally anguished. Her emotions greatly affect her performance in battle. It is quite obvious that the longer she fights, the more she loses her will to fight, and the more she loses her energy.
Weapons/Fighting Style
Small daggers and various projectiles are always on January. Usually hidden in easy to reach places, the weapons are light weight, and do not weigh her down. January tries to keep to long range battle for less of a chance of being hurt, though she has the ability to dodge almost anything, she doesn’t like to take chances.
Bio
January was born to nice parents, who managed to hide the fact that their daughter was an amp. Amazingly, she had a fairly normal childhood, blaming her eye color on a birth defect, something that was common amongst regular children. Though she was never quite aware of her abilities, it was obvious that she was different from others. She thought differently about the outsiders called amps and the people in the towers.
Though January has never been one to judge others, she has never been comfortable around most people without the power to amp. The red-head first discovered her powers at the age of 15, during a situation that required quick thinking. A man driven to desperation had threatened her life for her money, and it was then that her amp manifested completely.
Using Garnet’s speed to escape from the man made January realize why she was so different, and just why her parents had been so protective of her throughout her life.
When the community found out about Jan’s little gift, they were not nearly as thrilled. Though it hurt them to think of her as a threat, that’s exactly what the red-head was. If she’d stayed, no doubt stories would have spread, and soon she would have to fight against the people who lived in the tower. For her own safety, and that of the innocents who might be hurt, January was banished from her home.
Driven from all she knew and all that she cared for, Jan was forced to create a new life for herself. How? She found a bar to work in and soon found a new dislike for alcohol, creating a long list of reasons. She managed to get extra pay for singing once in a while up on the small karaoke stage, where there would be local performances.
It wasn’t what she’d ever thought to be great, but it was her life now. She managed to finish her education by learning from a tutor that rented her the apartment she was living in. Jan worked around the age limit for the bar staff by lying about her age, as she looked much more mature than just 15. It was always just assumed that she was old enough.
By laying low, January managed to avoid the government, and any trouble that came with that. Now, she’s just trying to live out her life in peace, though she has had to rid the area of particularly violent amp users. A woman’s work is never done, so they say….
