Before I start, I warn you: This is a tear jerker! It's one of the few poems I've ever written and actualyl liked, and it requires a bit of an explination.
When I was 11, we got a black lab puppy to replace a dog we had lost, and named him Bear. I loved Bear to death, even if he drove me crazy, and he saw me through some very tough times in junior high and high school. In my first year of university, two years ago, we lost Bear. My family spared me the news until I came home after finishing my exams, which I had been stressed out about enough. It had been two weeks, so they had all grieved, and it was very hard for me because I didn't want to reopen healing wounds. So I wrote this, and being Wiccan, I encorperated images that were meaningful to me, and it helped. Last Halloween, Bear's spirit (or so I like to think) made a trip to my dorm room to say good bye, which was something I had been aching for since I had first heard the news and then wrote this poem.
I’ll See You
I’ll see you every time The wind blows from the West; When the spirits of the dead call to the living And you used to hide.
I’ll see you when it thunders And lightning streaks the skies; When rain pounds on the window, And you should be hiding in my room.
I’ll see you every time I walk along the sandy beaches As Apollo’s chariot sinks below the horizon, Where we played in better days.
I’ll see you every time I hear “Painted Black,” When they told me that you were gone, And this void took up my heart.
I’ll see you every time I come home and you’re not there; Not there to meet me Like you did for eight years before.
I’ll see you every time The holidays roll around; The memories we made That are all that remain.
I’ll see you every time I look at her; The one we saved, While we lost you.
I’ll see you in the end When my Lord takes me; When I’m laid at the feet of my Lady And you’ll greet me once again.

Gypsy Blue I’ll see you every time I hear “Painted Black,” When they told me that you were gone, And this void took up my heart. Hey, is that "Painted Black", as in the song by The Rolling Stones? Rock on. I personally like The Agony Scene's cover of the song. The Agony Scene is so metal it hurts... Ok, erk, sorry, poem...concentrate Kelly... erk..! stressed ow... I'm not familiar with the Wiccan beliefs, so I don't understand some of the imagery...Although I really like the second four lines, refering to the dog hiding in your room from the thunderstorm, like many dogs do. And I feel your pain. I had a beloved hamster die when I was little. crying

Wow, that was great that you had such a strong bond with him. I've always loved dogs, and I know it can hurt really bad once you've lost one that has been in the family for a long time. I still remember my dog, Alex, when he died.. I watched him die, unfortunately.. It still haunts me in my dreams.
But enough about that.. I had a dog that was part lab named Little Bear. (Odd, huh?) He was a really good dog, too. :] - I just didn't like it too much when him and Alex tried sleeping with me at night, lol. They'd end up pushing me off the bed. ^^;
This was really touching, though. And I also like it because there are those out there who could really relate to it as well..

Hey, is that "Painted Black", as in the song by The Rolling Stones? It is indeed! It was one of my favorite songs before the news was broken, and I went through a period where I'd just start to cry when I heard it. Now it just kind of feels weird to listen to it.
