I've managed to do some pretty decent 2-handed tapping on bass before, but I can never quite get the right hand techniques down for slap bass. Suggestions? For what it's worth, I'm using a 1983 Squier P.

well basically what you want to do, is bounce your string off your frett board, using your thumb. Hence the reason why you slap it.

Yeah after a LONG time. You eventually need to replace frets on any bass, but you never need to worry about it untill you play for a few years.

As a good rule though, you should NEVER slap on a fretless bass. Metal vs Wood = LOSE stressed
