Yay! New season. Okay, this season is pretty much a remake of the first season. Well, that's what I think anyways... Agumon has returned with a new look (red belts on his hands), however Taichi is nowhere to be found. >.> In his place is a boy named Marasu. Marasu and Agumon become friends by first trying to beat the crap out of each other. Once they find that they are evenly matched, they shake hands and you can figure the rest out for yourself. Anywho the two of them end up working at DATS (not sure what is stands for yet but its like the organization from season 3) along with Yoshiro and her partner Raramon (it looks like Palmon) and Touma and his partner Gaomon (think of a short, blue Renamon with red boxing gloves and a red headband). One thing has me confused about this season though. That being that I have watched all of the first eight episodes and I have yet to see a goggle-head. http://www.youtube.com/v/CLcCaYStbe8 <-- opening theme song...

Having seen up to ep 35, i gotta say by now the plot line's pretty ornate. It's not the regular save the digiworld and human world from evil DIGIMON. (note the emphasis on 'digimon') And Masaru's an...Interesting character, to say the least. It's definitely unusual for digimon.

I have got to say, Digimon Savers was my 2nd favourite season. Masaru was indeed a very interesting character, and Yoshino/Lalamon rocks. X3

In the beginning of the series, it is rather dull. Like the beginning of Season 2 dull. Stand alone adventures that don't have to be in an order and has no real bearing on the main story. About all it is for is to introduce the digivolutions and the characters. Which can be done in the first two episodes, but noooo. They didn't even have character development for the first 10-ish episodes.
Later on in the series, it does get better. But one major thing lacks the capabilities to be a challenge to Season One in terms of being good.
In season one, the character design and background of the characters was both relatable to everyday life and to you and me, and it was also interesting for ALL the characters. Everyone wanted to know about Izzy and his parents and foster parents, everyone wanted to learn Joe and his brother, and the same goes for TK, Tai, Sora, Matt, and Kari. About the only one that didn't really have a background was Mimi. But she didn't really need a background - you already knew she was a spoiled brat and its not hard to figure out why people become selfish like that. Which also made her a unique character as she was confronted with her selfish ways.
However, in THIS season of Digimon, nobody cares about Touma's history with his father and his family name, not about Yoshino and her piano playing. They were just presented in a very uninteresting way. Hell, Yoshino could have done with OUT the background information. Yukito was somewhat interesting, but once his story was told, it was over and done with and he was just another character that had no place. At all. The only character that remained relevant throughout the entire series was that of Masaru.
In the first season, even when you knew that character's background, it was confronted, and then resolved, he was still an interesting character that you wanted to keep track of throughout the whole series. They even had more to add on. Both more tidbits from their past, as well as how they use their new outlook on themselves in relation to the other Digidestined.
*sigh* They just don't make Digimon like they used to...
