Aloha!
Okay, there is a good reason for this topic, i promise. And it will have a whole new meaning as soon as i say what happened to start off this brilliant idea (please bare with me as i tell a story...)
Right, so, i'm in Hawaii on the island of O'ahu ATM. As i am emigrating to NZ and it was over my b-day (July 29th) i got to chose the place where we stayed for a brake. So i chose Hawaii for my own reasons. So, we shopped, hung out on the beach, walked around, went to a luau, the regular stuff, but today we rented a car to drive around. So, last night, while looking at the map i see a road called...
KAMEHAMEHA HWY
My eyes skimmed over it first but then it registered in my mind and i backtracked and looked at it again, thinking i read it wrong. But, i was right. So, of course, the fangirl in my squeeled and looked at it's location, where it was going and WHY it was called that (could come up for a reason for the last one).
So, i convinced my dad to let us drive to it (wasn't that hard as we needed to take it to get to where we were going) and i looked at the sign. And, indeed, it was called Kamehameha hwy. In my fandomness i took a picture (which i can't put on here YET because the stuff to upload my camera onto my laptop is in a box somewhere in NZ so you're going to have to bare with me on that one).
PLACE FOR THE PICCY WHEN IT'S UP
So, that lead onto a WHOLE new thing about other places that may have DBZ related names...so, can anyone think of any?? And has anyone else seen Kamehameha hwy?!?!?!?!?!

Okay...i looked into why it's called this and here's what i got: The Kamehameha Highway is generally assumed to be named for the first monarch reigning over all the Hawaiian islands, King Kamehameha I ("the Great"), rather than his four less illustrious successors in the Kamehameha dynasty (most of whom have lesser roads and highways named specifically for them). Map (showing part of the Kamehameha Hwy): Hmm...so that explains that...but an awesome coincydink if you ask me!!

I have dear. We were in Hawaii for New Years once. The statue of King Kamehameha is on the big island in Honolulu in front of the royal palace I think. Seren if you're still there try to go to the North shore that's where all the big surf competions are held. HE! HE! twisted Surfer boys galore!!! You might want to go to the big Aquarium there too, they have a wholphin. The offspring of a whale and dolphin.

xd Hehe. I wasn't quite to the point of obsession at the time, so I didn't really freak out -- what I did do was make sure I had at least five notes about 'im, though. :XP: (In social studies in sixth grade, it seemed like every other day we watched a video and took notes on it. The teacher would pop one in and say, "We're watching this today and tomorrow, and I want you to turn in 75 facts from the video." But if you got a lot more than you needed, she gave extra credit. X3)
Oh yeah, and I also remember looking/listening around the room to see if anyone was going to say anything about it. xd But I have a feeling that the few who were actually paying attention didn't really know or care about anything involving "kamehameha."

xd There's no way I would've been outgoing enough to mention it to anybody unless I knew they'd be interested.
