~....I've fallen. Forever I will fall in my darkness. But never shall I be alone. For fallen with me, into my darkness, my sister is forever by my side. Together, we fall in the darkness. Together, always...~ Name: Eris Clan: Quicktalon Totem: Spiritual Third Eye Class: None yet RelativesHera - Mother (missing/dead) Ruth - Aunt Jei - Half sister HistoryBefore Jei and Eris were born, their mothers were the closest of friends. Hera and Ruth shared all their secrets with each other. They even decided to have their children be related by mating with the same male, a Hare they both caught. But something happened during Hera's pregnancy, something she wouldn't share with Ruth. Ruth pleaded with Hera to tell her what was wrong, but never got an answer. All she saw was her beloved friend slowly become more and more frightened. She would be looking over her shoulder, gripping her stomach like it was about to fall off. Ruth suspected she was just scared because this was her first pregnancy, and this can always make the mother nervous. But her attitude didn't change after she had given birth to the red-eyed Eris. Ruth would catch Hera staring at her newborn with a mix of fear and saddness. Then, without warning, Hera disappeared. Eris was found next to Jei in her crib but Hera was gone. Ruth searched for her, following her scent to the path that lead to The Gust Cliffs. Here, due to rock formations, the wind always whiped around in a wild manner. It took a lot of strength to get through the pass and you had to do it quickly. But Hera's scent wasn't found on the other side of the pass. So it was assumed that she wandered onto the path and fell to her death. Ruth was beside herself with grief. Not only had she lost her dearest friend, she never knew what caused such a change in her personality. She was also forced by the Chieftess to raise the orphaned kitten. Thats when she decided it must have been something about Eris that made Hera so frightened. From then on, Eris has been pushed around, hit, and always yelled at by her adoptive aunt. Eris has never known affection, except the love she recieves from her half sister, Jei. .....A Teen's Fall......Eris is now a teen in the tribe, but how long she'll live is unknown. At her ceremony, she contacted a spirit she had been speaking to out on Gust Cliffs. A strange, unnatural wind blew about, keeping even her own sister away from her. The spirit gifted her with a spiritual third eye and allowed her to break the final chain that held her. But what was this chain attached too? It would seem it held Eris's sanity. As soon as she awoke to the cries of her frightened sister, she could only think to kill whatever it was touching her, hurting her, blinding her. With claws and fangs she tore into her sister without a hint of remorse. It took two adults to pull her off and knock her out but the damage to Jei was already done. No one yet knows the extent of her maddness, but even the Wild Ones of the tribe dare not go near her. For when they are close to the teen, they see things, hear things, feel things that send chills down their spine. And so, Eris stays were she was bound deep inside a cave. How long will she stay there? What is her fate? PersonalityEris usually has her head in the clouds. Rarely is she focused on anything for very long. Her gaze is usually glazed as she stares off into space, thinking whatever it is she's thinking. No one really knows what that is because she never says what she's thinking about. She shows some affection to her Aunt Ruth, but doesn't expect the same from the elder. She shrugs off her Aunt's constant bad temper, finding comfort in her sister's words and strength. In fact, Jei is really the only person Eris is known to have long conversations with. She doesn't know much about her mother, Ruth forbids her to ask questions about her. All she knows, is that Ruth hates her and Jei is the only person she can trust. She is a constant source of annoyance amongst the elders who are trying to train her. She shows no interest in battle, which is a detriment to anyone in Quicktalon. She can't seem to pay attention long enough to even attempt to become a Shameness. And no adult will leave her alone with a cooking pot. Her future is unknown, both to herself and her tribe. Its whispered she'll be cast out for being useless if she dosen't start paying attention. Recent Change: Eris has suddenly become moody and prone to wild outbursts of emotion. Ever since her sister saw her have some sort of attack up on Gust Cliffs, she has had a horrible time controling herself. Each day she seems to get a little worse. And now, her mood changes are becoming dangerous.Eris's mind has been damanged. How and to what extent is unknown but all that is know is that she is mad. She attacked her own sister in a rage and is now bound hand and foot in one of the clan's deepest caves. At night she moans and shivers in her lost dreams, during the day she can be heard screaming her mental pain through the caverns.

. For you, dear sister. Name: Jei Clan: Quicktalon Totem: None yet Class: None yet Relatives Hera - Aunt (Missing/Dead) Ruth - Mother Eris - Half sister History (For the sake of space, I'm going to assume that we know of the Hera-Ruth fiasco.) Jei has always been a treasured child. Calm, well-mannered, a hard worker.. She regrets this. Jei has always thought of Eris as her best friend and not just a half-sister. From the time she could talk and walk she watched over the other kitten, hardly restraining herself when she found out her other's hatred for her. Not long passed before Jei started following her sister around, encouraging her when the others tossed insults at her. Never once did she think why. She was loyal to Eris, loosing quite a bit of possible respect by helping her. (Aaand, this will be edited as she grows older.) Personality Jei, as mentioned, is a precious, loved child. She adores battle, and tends to become quite cruel.. A trait that makes her mother very proud. She has never been really outgoing, though whether she is simply shy or extremely antisocial is up for debate. She is very cool-headed, never overreacting, never.. reacting at all. Anger has never been a problem for her. Jei has only been seen smiling when she was around her sister. Of course, Jei is completely different when she's around Eris. The calm, who-cares additude is gone and she seems to be like a kitten again. Bouncy, no longer sluggish, always so helpful.. Her sister brings out a side that very few people see. The moment Eris is picked on, however, Jei tends to revert to her more vicious side.. Small cuts and scrapes have been seen on her, most of them due to fights with other kittens. (Like above, this will be editted as she grows.)

Color danced around her. She couldn't tell what they were, only that they were colorful. They seemed to call her, like something soft heard on the wind....then it was gone as a sharp slap across the head woke the spotted cougar up.
It was her Aunt, demanding she get up and help make breakfast for Jei. She was use to it by now, if it didn't happen, she would some how end up doing something that would get her hit. She yawned a bit, ignoring the comment about her laziness and wandered blankly over to the cooking area. She stared at a Homemaker until they were freaked out and mad. She said she was here for breakfast for her family, which only got her a cold growl before her food was handed to her.
Back at the cave, she set the food down. Then went to wake up her beloved sister.
"Jei, its time to get up. Breakfast is here."

Jei always had horrible dreams. Screams and violent splatters still rang in her head as she awoke, giving her an odd feeling.. It wasn't anger, it wasn't fright.. She always pushed the thought out of her head, though. Her sister's voice helped to comfort her. It was calm. It was nice.. "Nn.." Jei pushed herself up, a soft fur blanket falling off of her as she did so. "I'm not hungry." She never was hungry.
She could hear her mother talking in a loud voice, but she couldn't understand the words. "Do you want to eat outside..?"

Eris smiled, a real smile, and nodded. Eris's voice was never hurried. Slightly slow, as if she were still thinking of the words as she spoke them. She never rose her voice, she never seemed to get angry either. She was always just there in the moment.
"Yeah, come on. I think Auntie is on another Eris Is Always a Problem speeches anyway. You should eat more. You are going to be a great warrior some day."
She picked up their food and a small blanket. Going outside she sat them out and started to nibble. Her eyes glossed over as she chewed, her mind wandering to wherever it went when she became silent.

Jei followed her closely, seating herself and staring blankly at the food. "Aahh, but you need the energy.. I've got enough energy. I've got enough practice. You need energy so you can practice.." Or maybe that wasn't a good idea. It wasn't like her sister ever practiced, anyway.. So, ignoring her own words, Jei took a bit of food and ate it quickly, a small smile on her face as she licked the rest of it from her fingers. She tried to think of something else to say, before realizing it would really be hopeless
After all, her sister wasn't listening. Jei occasionally glanced over to her, shrugging a bit when she heard her aunt finally shut up. "We can go back in, if you want.." Not that she did.

The silence in the hut behind them seemed to awaken Eris from whatever trance she was in. She looked behind her, blinked a few times, then shook her head.
"No. I don't. I want to go to Gust Cliffs."
She knew Jei wouldn't like this idea. She also knew Jei wouldn't like it if she knew Eris had been going there by herself lately. This time she actually decided to tell her sister before hand. But she liked it there. She knew it had some connection to her mother and the constant wind disruption actually kept her focused on something. Maybe she would sing again.

"No." Jei didn't say much else, nibbling on another piece of food. "I -" she was cut off by her mother's shrill shriek. A cry of 'WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER' echoed loudly, causing Jei to cover her ears.. smearing a bit of food on herself. "Ergh. More training." Normally, she wouldn't mind.. and today, she really didn't either. She was just rather sore from the day before (she had scaped herself quite a bit on her elbows, and now it was rather hard to move them correctly) and would have liked a bit of rest..
"Eris, be careful?" she sighed, glancing to her sister. "I'll be gone for a while today.. Just be careful. Try not to get someone angry at you.."

The younger of the sisters nodded and smiled.
"I'll stay out of everyone's way today. I promise....hey Jei. What's going to happen to us after you become a huntress?"
She looked at her sister, a bit of saddness in her eyes as she thought about the future. She had no idea what hers would be, but if Aunt Ruth had her way, Jei would be a talented and vicious huntress. She wondered if she would be left behind, as always, since she was so useless.

Jei looked thoughtful, not looking directly at the other kitten. That was a good question. She decided not to hurt her sister..
"I'll be stronger and able to protect you more." she said, a firm that's-the-end-of-that sound in her voice. It was final, and she would not add anymore to the subject. Sometimes, the future was just too much to think about.

Eris nodded and walked off, leaving her sister to train with her aunt. She could never stay around as Ruth thought she was distracting to Jei. And she was because Jei was so protective of her that she would often stop in the middle of a move to look over at her to make sure she wasn't doing something that would get herself hurt. Her feet carried her out of the village and into the surrounding mountains. Her mind wandered all over the words used to answer her question. She knew Jei was only trying to make her feel better. She had a good idea what would happen to them after Jei grew up. Others also talked about her future when they didn't think she could hear them. And it did hurt her to think about it. As she walked towards her usual hide away spot, the Gust Cliffs, she imagined her life and Jei's life when they got older.
Jei is a celebrated warrior of the tribe. Strong, fast, and lethal, she can catch any prey. Her skills as a warrior in battle surpass all those around her. But off in a dark corner of a cave sits a small, under nurished cougar. She can't fight, she can't hunt, and is constantly pushed aside in favor of even the kittens. Then one day, she is forced to leave the tribe for her uselessness. She would wander the barren land, unable to keep herself alive until she finally perished. Yes, thats what everyone thought her fate would be. But Eris didn't want that.
Eris hated the fact that she had no abilties. She tried to fight but couldn't concentrate enough to watch her opponant. Something.....she didn't know what....would always distract her, forcing her to look another way or simply loose her focus. Thats when she got hurt. She couldn't hunt. Again, something would distract her and she would reveal her presence. The animal would be scared off and Eris could never catch back up with it. She couldn't even cook because of....something....distracting her. She remembered the beating she had gotten after nearly setting the cooking area on fire after forgetting about a cooking pot. But what was it that distracted her? It was never something in the area, not an animal or a bug. It was as if....her mind just stopped thinking about what was going on at the time and looked away. She couldn't stop it. She hadn't told Jei about this, she didn't think her sister would really believe her. Who would?

A stout brown cougar walked to the cave entrace with a hare. Moriean shifted her gift to her other hand while greeting the cave's inhabitant in a loud but friendly voice.
"A Fare Day to ye, Ruth."

"Fare Day, Moriean. What brings you here? Did you want to help train my Jei? She is getting stronger by the day you know."
The black and brown cougar smiled proudly, ever so thrilled with her daughter's progress. She would never even mention the other kitten that lived there.

As she spoke, Moriean handed the hare to Ruth, a customary Quicktalon's gift. It was rude for visitors to come empty handed, even if the practicality of the tradition had been long lost.
"That she is. Jei is a very talented kitten. She will become a great warrior someday. No doubt one of the best."
It was true that Jei was a highly valued youngster, but that was no reason to force her half sister to go completely untrained. Moriean was confident that she would be able to work with Eris, if only to see if she had the potential that she suspected, as long as Ruth agreed to it. And why wouldn't she? It was clear that she hated Eris. Even now, her refusal to mention the kitten showed that.
If it was true that the spotted kitten was left alive for her daughter's sake, Ruth would have no problem allowing her to leave her home, as long as Jei could still see her.
"Actually, I came to ask about Eris."

Ruth accepted the hare with a smile, practically glowing with pride when Moriean talked about Jei. But dropped it as Moriean spoke of that good for nothing kitten. She frowned and growled softly.
"Has she done something again? Don't you worry, I'll beat the apology out of her when she gets home. Good for nothing kitten."
