So I went to the concert in Toronto and I thought I'd share my experience.

We got to the Docks at about 7:00 and had some trouble finding parking. We drove around a bit and found a spot, after freaking out at the pretty long line already. When we got to the line, we weren’t sure if we were in the right place at first, but a few guys ahead of us had Muse shirts on. Mom asked the guys ahead of us just in case and they said, “Yes, this is Muse.”
So we were in line. Waiting for Muse! We actually were pretty close to the front, and the line behind us was growing quickly. This girl behind us was calling her friend, freaking out and saying that she was about to see Muse. The friend didn’t know who they were so the girl said they sounded like Radiohead, so I had a little “they so do NOT!” moment. Heh. Then there was the argument of people in front of us whether Radiohead broke up or not (for the record, they didn’t).

The line was moving slowly, which didn’t make much sense at the time, but they were checking people. There was 3 hotdog stands on the way and people were actually buying hotdogs. This little kid walked by with pinkish/red hair that was probably inspired by Matt. I love musers!
We got a picture of me and my sister in line. When we got up to the front, we saw that they were checking people. So we get up and they find our camera and confiscated it. So we didn’t get any pictures and videos, which was a little disappointing. They checked us for stuff in our pockets and let us go through.

Then we waiting some more (and the people right ahead of us before got in way before us). At 8:00 the doors opened and we were let in in groups. We got in and it was all dark and people were crowded around the merchandise table. Mom needed to go to the bathroom so me and my sister waited there impatiently, staring at the tour shirts. We were just thinking, “Look how many people are getting ahead of us!!!” Mom finally came out and we had to wait a bit to get to the front of the merchandice line, but once we did I bought a lovely shirt with the trio on it, with their shadow saying Muse. $35. Just as much as the tickets, and that was the cheapest shirt too.

We didn’t know where to go at first, but then we realized the stage was right in front of us. So we got as close as we could (about 8 paces from the stage, on the right hand side) and stood there, waiting. My feet were starting to hurt already, although I wasn’t regretting wearing the heels since I felt really short already.

The Cloud Room finally got on. We had a good view throughout that (although I didn’t know there was a guitarist there until Mom pointed him out). My sister thought there was only two of them though, so I’m glad I was a bit taller. They were pretty good, although I couldn’t understand what the lead singer was saying, except for bits of Blackout and Hey Now Now and that’s because I knew the songs already.
People were getting impatient, you could tell. This one guy yelled out, “Who are you?!?!” and the lead singer just answered, “I ask myself that question every day. But I think I’ll go with the Cloud Room. Yeah, we’re the Cloud Room.” He handled it pretty well, I think, although they should have introduced themselves at the start. I felt like I was the only one who read into it enough to know who the opening band was and listen to some of their music, but that’s okay. I was dancing a bit, but every one else was just standing there.
They talked to us, which was good. He was like, “Do you want to hear our new song?” and people cheered, although not very enthusiasticlly.
The loudness of the music took a bit getting used to and it felt like the bass was inside of you, beating. Kinda scary, really. They got off after 35 minutes, which felt really short. Then the long waiting began.

There were songs playing while the tech guys got the stuff ready. At one point, someone was checking Matt’s mic and people cheered and a guy went, “Yay, Muse!” and the guy kinda bowed. It made me laugh, at least.
My feet were hurting really badly and at the end of each song playing on the speakers, people would get excited, but then a new song would start, which disappointed everyone. We were chanting, cheering, everything but they didn’t come out.
If Tom did come, out I didn’t see him at all.
This went on for 45 minutes until the guys finally came out!

Everyone pushed forward and Mom just grabbed our arms. The mosh pit was crazy and we were shoved around a lot. It took this guy behind us to keep us on our feet (and he left before we could thank him after!). So I’ll run it down song by song.

01. Map of the Problematique
02. Hysteria
03. Supermassive Black Hole
04. Butterflies and Hurricanes
05. Bliss
06. Forced In
07. Apocalypse Please
08. Soldier's Poem
09. Invincible
10. Newborn
11. Starlight
12. Plug In Baby
13. Stockholm Syndrome

14. Take a Bow
15. Time Is Running Out
16. Knights of Cydonia

Map of the Problamatique: This song was insane and being pushed around a lot. I was mostly concerned about staying on my feet and barely saw Matt (I glimpsed his head a few times). I had a great view of Chris & Dom though and I belted out my favourite part (And no one thinks they are to blame/why can’t we see/when we bleed we bleed the same?). I was jumping and having fun, but I could tell my mom was worried about us and maybe kinda regretting coming.

Hysteria: This song was crazy too, but I still screamed when it came on and enjoyed myself a lot. I had an amazing view of Chris for the opening solo and Dom for the rest. Still not much of Matt. Everyone knew this song, practically, so we were all singing and screaming out the chorus. I even joined in with the mosh pit for a bit.

Supermassive Black Hole: Instant hit. Everyone going crazy (and the mosh pit slowed down, so my mom was clearly feeling better). Sang the whole time and still had an amazing view of Chris&Dom. I had a better view of Matt than before, but not much. If the whole concert had such a bad view of Matt I would have been kinda mad. But it got better Matt view wise. I sang my heart out.

Butterflies and Hurricanes: I almost didn’t recognize this one at first (I blame the feet hurting and the heat: we were SWEATING SO BAD!). Once I did, I freaked out! I had really wanted to see some piano live and the whole SOLO was in this one!!! I couldn’t see Matt when he got to his piano at all (I only saw the piano at the start when my mom lifted me up: it was so beautiful and white!), so I had to watch it on the screen. But WOW. It was absolutely BREATHTAKING! I thought I loved it on the CD, but woah, this was so much better. One of the best moments of the night, for sure.

Bliss: I was so happy they played this. For a while I was scared they would only play Black Holes and Revelations and Absolution stuff, but this was an amazing surprise. Many people didn’t seem to know it and I could have sworn I was the only one singing, so I sang all the louder. Now I always think of it as ‘my song.’ And I had a GREAT VIEW OF MATT! Yay. First one of the night, but definitely not the last.

Forced In: I’m ashamed to say I didn’t recognize this at all, but I really should have (I wasn’t listening to b-sides for a while, cause I thought they wouldn’t play them). But it was great and now I’ve been listening to it a lot to make up for it. At least no one else seemed to know what it was.

Apocalypse Please: I was completely expecting this to be part of the encore, so I was surprised when the guys started clapping. All I could see over everyone’s clapping arms, was Muse’s arms, so red, white and black sleeves clapping. Everyone knew this song and we were almost as loud as Matt singing it seemed like (although we probably weren’t). Classic Absolution. It also got me wondering what they would play in the encore instead.

Soldier’s Poem: People didn’t seem too excited about this one, but I sure was. I just love this song, it’s so beautiful. I couldn’t see Matt at all, since he was at his piano, so I watched Chris singing the backup. And sang along the whole time of course (I was kinda thankful no one could hear how horrible a singer I was).

Invincable: This one was amazing live (I’ve always imagined it as a duet so I kinda sang really loud. Ha.) Incredible. Amazing. Just wow.

New Born: YAY MORE ORGIN OF SYMMETRY! Yes, I’m seriously in love with that album. Everyone knew this one, which was weird (so why didn’t they know Bliss too?). After the piano intro, I got ready for the mosh pit, and it came for sure. This song had amazing energy and everyone was happy, jumping and I was SINGING! So loud.

Starlight: I love this song too, so it was amazing to hear it live. Got to belt out my favourite part (let’s conspire to ignite/all the souls who would die just to feel alive). AMAZING!!!! (and calmer mosh pit. =o)

Plug In Baby: More Orgin of Symmetry goodness. I probably went the craziest for this song, jumping around, screaming singing. I WAS HIGH AS A KITE!!!!! Ah, it was the best feeling in the world. If I ever get to go to another Muse concert, I reallly hope they play that song. Definite highlight. Matt was such a showoff, playing the end riff behind his head.

Stolkholm Syndrome: For a second, I honestly thought they were playing Hysteria again (ever notice how they were so similar?) but I soon noticed. This was when the band started to get realllllllly excited I think. Matt had this huge adorable grin on his face the whole time. Everyone sang and I just screamed the ‘I wish I could’ parts. They did some riffs and stuff at the end, Matt still grinning like an adorable idiot.

Then they all went out, but I knew there would be an encore. Everyone was chanting “MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE” really fast. It only took them about a minute to get back on stage, which was a huge surprise. I was expecting a half an hour wait. So now I was excited to see what the third encore song would be. And it was….

Take a Bow: Yes! I really like this song, and the live recordings I’ve heard of it made it seem even better. It was definitely meant for the stage. Matt got up on Dom’s platform so everyone could see him and starting singing. He was doing the classic Bellamy hand movements around the mic, so amazing. After the first, “Take a bow” he raised his hand in the air, and we all did too. Then he did a salute and started on the song. IT WAS GREAT.

Time is Running Out: I knew this would be coming, but I still screamed really loud. Everyone was singing loud on the verses too (Matt seemed impressed with that) and he let us sing the ‘I won’t let you bury it…” part all on our own. Halfway through the song, the cable from a speaker fell on my head and me and the girl behind me just kinda looked at each other like, “what did we do?!?” great energy. And memories. It was my first muse song…

There was a bit of a pause, so I just screamed, “KNIGHTS OF CYDONIA!!!!!” and what do you know? Guess what they played next.

Knights of Cydonia: This was absolutely perfect. People moved, so I got closer, and all the tall people moved a bit so I had a perfect view of Matt for the WHOLE SONG. I know, amazing. This song was perfect for live stage. Matt was so theatrical and I loved his face during the opening. smile There were horses on the back screens, and the words came on for the ‘no one’s gonna take me aliveeeeee’ part and everyone was screaming it. It was perfect as a finale for sure!

When the ended (I know, it had to end…so sad), Matt waved and pointed at someone in the audience (I so wish it had been meeeee) and then waved again and left. Chris waved and left, but Dom stayed behind and raised his arms in the air, being the cute show off that he is. I jumped up and down and waved enthusiastically, but I’m not sure he saw.
Once Domdom was gone, the lights switched on and I couldn’t believe that it was over. Over.
We were too tired and thirsty to wait around for the band, so it was out to the car (past some raccoons). (I won’t be making that mistake again next year…I’ll be waiting!)
But it was THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!

Random Moment: I’m not sure when in the show this was, but Dom was talking, people cheered and then went silent, so I shouted “YAY DOM!!!!” as loud as I could and he looked at me. Yes, I’m quite proud of that.

So if Muse comes here next year I am SO GOING! I thought they were perfect on the CD, but live is a million times better.

I hate you. No I dont actually, but I was supposed to go to that concert, and then 5 DAYS BEFORE I was told I couldn't go. I cried so much. Instead I just stole some Muse posters off some lamposts at the side of the road advertising the concert at the Docks, I'm such a rebel.

sad Why couldn't you go?
I had a lot of trouble getting there myself. First, we thought it was a 19+ show. Then my mom just said no. Once we had the tickets, the day before, our tire was leaking so we had no chance of getting to Toronto at all. (no clue why it was fine the whole time).
I really should have thought to get some posters. Hmmm....

They're coming back to Toronto on September 9 for the V-fest on Centre Island. Maybe you'll be able to go then. 3nodding

Well I'm off to see them in Birmingham in november.

So I imagine it'll be a very similar experience.

Have fun! You might have a bigger line up since they're bigger over there. So going really early might be a good idea.
I wish I could fly over and go with you. rofl I want to go to another muse concert.

Nah, I've got a reserved seat.

They didn't have any standing left, so I just booked into a seated area.

Yeah, I'm just worrying about the view now.

xD

I couldn't manage to get seats near the front so i may not be able to see properly.

Hopefully the seating sections will be on a slope and everyone will be able to grab a peek.

I really can't wait for this.

Hmm.. My experiance. Oh yes, the day I'll never EVVER forget?
hehe

Well It's long so I'll TRY to cut it short. It's not all that exciting but for me it was:

It was sorta like a festival. All these bands were there, including Muse <3.
We didn't get there in the very begining because the main purpose was to see Muse. My best friend took me because she knows how much I love them. When we got there we had some time to kill so we went to get in line for autographs. It was this BIG line. So we waited for like 20 mins when we found out, it wasn;t the right line, it was buckcherry...... So we found the REAL line, which was much shorter, and stood in it. As we got closer I got more excited. Muse I could see them! We were about 4 people away from the gate thing and the guy in front of us turned around and said "you need a wrist band to get an autogrph." We did not have one. So I got all upset and was about to cry when he said "I'll get your ticket signed for you." hehe so We got to the gate and they shut it after the guy when in. We shood there watching and I wipped out my phone to take a picture and I yelled put Dom's name and he looked! I told him to get Matt, and he did! then I took a picture. It turned out REALLY bad... Anywho. the nice guy gave me my ticket and we hurried along to watch them perform. We were very close to the stage then all these people came when Muse came on. Kara and I are very little so once they started playing, people started dancing and pushing and moshings and surfing. One guy fell on me... so we had to get out of there, we were DYINNG... We went a little back and still managed to see them pretty good.

Yes. Even though there were some sucky parts, over all I saw my Muse and was happy.
TaDa, my experience. domokun

Aw, my experience wasn't even as exciting as that, but still pretty exciting since it IS Muse.

I didn't have floor tickets, but I had the next floor up from that. Next time I'll make sure I have enough money to splurge and make sure I pre-order my tickets or something to get those floor tickets.

This was their 20 song setlist:
  • Knights of Cydonia
  • Hysteria
  • Supermassive Black Hole
  • Map of the Problematique
  • Butterflies & Hurricanes
  • Assassin
  • Sing for Absolution
  • Citizen Erased
  • Hoodoo
  • Feeling Good
  • Sunburn
  • City of Delusion
  • Time is Running Out
  • New Born
  • Soldier's Poem
  • Invincible
  • Plug In Baby
  • Starlight
  • Stockholm Syndrome
  • Take A Bow

It was a really awesome show, and I was STOKED that they played Sunburn! I wasn't ready for it to end after Take a Bow. =/ But I ended up buying $95 worth of merch so I can have Muse with me almost anywhere I go. I even wear one of the shirts under my work uniform even though I'm not really supposed to. ^^;
